I support Amanda leaving and agree that in certain areas of the south it can feel like a hole. Amanda wants to see what it's like to have distance between her and the family, and enjoy life somewhere else.
I also agree a lot with Chris. In my opinion somewhere in their family timeline Amanda became the matriarch. I don’t think she asked or even wants it. Every time there is a problem it is always Amanda to come save the day. Especially to the two youngest one. I think Misty and Chris go to Amanda to talk and get clarity and Tammy and Amy need her like the parent. If this wasn’t Amanda family they definitely wouldn’t be friends
On Tammy and the surgery: from the perspective of someone having had surgery, my doctor was very concerned over his patients having as few surgeries as possible, to a point where he slowed your weight loss down if you started losing too fast. We got educated on the dangers of having too much loose skin (it’s not just unsightly: rashes can lead to infection, dead skin, etc - and that can be life threatening in itself). At the end of it all, I had minimal loose skin, but decades later, as I have gained and lost some weight, that loose skin I did originally have can HURT. It’s on my thighs, but I’m constantly (now) having to adjust having to sit so that the skin doesn’t break due to pulling or accidentally sitting and pinching (I’ve broken the skin before). I only lost 100 lbs originally, and 40 recently, so I cannot imagine how (losing 400+) painful Tammy’s skin might be. I have empathy for her and understand her disappointment.
I agree with most of Chris’ points. The current social media though shows Amanda returned to KY after the breakup. I also think there is a lot in the background we do not know and hate how TLC contrives silly scenes when the real turmoil makes for better TV. Enjoy your recaps.

Exactly! I thought I was the only one that got that!
