Nicole, this was a really wonderful tag that I thoroughly enjoyed doing. I'm going to be traveling to Ireland this week, and so I'm not going to be around for a big chunk of time in the middle of the month, which may prevent me from participating to the degree that I would have liked just because I don't know how much time I'm going to have to myself to read. But hopefully, I will get in as much Shakespeare as I can before and after the trip. Maybe next year I can participate more fully. Thanks again for creating such a wonderful tag and reading event!
Well Pat, you've convinced me to give Shakespeare another go. I also had to read Romeo and Juliet, decades ago, in 9th grade. We read the play out loud, but, honestly , my 13 year old brain just didn't get it🤷♀. I'm going to try reading his works aloud, because the language made sense, with minimal context, when I heard you reading it. Also, Justin's story was awesome. Some credit is probably due to his teacher😉.

I remember reading Romeo and Juliet with my 8th grade drama class. That's where I learned I loved to read plays. I loved hearing the Hamlet story again! You are definitely a Horatio. Great tag!
My favorite Shakespeare play is Romeo and Juliet because of the way my favorite high school teacher taught it. I love the movie soundtrack too. Every time I drop by I see you have more subscribers. That is so well deserved. ❤

Great answers, Pat. My mother had a complete set of Shakespeare's plays on vinyl. I think it was called Living Shakespeare. I used to love listening to them as a kid and they made studying them in later years a lot easier because they were all alive to me, and so familiar.

I remember watching Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet when I was a young girl. When Mercutio was killed during the duel I was brought to tears! I also remember reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet and the sonnets in school. My daughter and I went to Plymouth Mass to see the Tempest by a troupe of all male actors called The Plimoth Players The room was similar to the stages in Shakespeare's time. It was quite delightful. I was fortunate to visit his birth place in Stratford - Upon - Avon in England when I was 14 years old. It wasn't until I was 16 on an America Youth Hostels bike trip that I saw a Shakespearean Play in a replica of the Globe Theater in Stratford Connecticut in 1974. Unfortunately, it was burned down by arson in 2019. Sorry for the lengthy comment. I guess I was taking a walk down memory lane. Oh and it was so much fun watching The Taming of the Shrew with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton!!! I guess my age is showing. Wonderful video Pat.

I love the teaching story around Hamlet. How wonderful to be a part of such moments. By the way, my favorite Hamlet might be Derek Jacobi. It was on PBS as part of British television’s project to produce all the plays, unabridged. 💕

There’s a Shakespeare-shaped hole in my reading life-it wasn’t part of my high school or college curriculum, and I’ve never gotten to it on my own. Which play would you recommend to kick off my own journey?
Well, I would want for you to read Hamlet, but I wouldn't start there probably. I love A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's lighthearted and magical and funny. I might start there. But ultimately, I would want for you eventually to read the great tragedies--Hamlet, King Lear, Macbeth, Othello....But that's just me.
