Good fish man watching your videos I found a spot similar to that one on the Chattahoochee River. I’m military and been here for 4 years and never caught much of anything here. Always small fish. Watched your videos and caught a 44in blue a few weeks ago. Your videos truly are inspirational to those who fish for a way to get. Break from the world and focus on the water and the fish
Three nice Flatheads. That was certainly well worth the long trip to your spot. The last one was a beautiful yellow. Sun was just right to light him up. Thanks for another great video Justin.
Fantastic video Justin. This is the video that made me go buy my first kayak the very next day after watching it. Can’t believe I didn’t comment on this video. Great reason to watch it again.
I love the videos. You actually made me go out and buy a kayak i bought a hobie pa14. Just got everything setup, learning from your videos. Never thought about suspend fishing for catfish. Now this coming up weekend im about to try what i learn from you. Just the area im in, not so great for alot of big blue or fatheads. But i use to live in knoxville so i know alot of the dam areas you fish. Love Tennessee fishing lol.
Awesome video you know I have replaced watching television with watching shows like yours and catfish Dave and panfish rod bender it’s so much better than the programming they shoved down our throat’s keep making videos
It looks like your new Abu Garcia C3s are treating you well. I have just recently replaced the original handles on all my C3s with Abu Garcia power handles. They give me a better feel when I’m reeling in large fish. You can find them on amazon for $12-$17 if you’re interested. Another entertaining video. Thanks!
Appreciate your passion for them big fish i totally understand that feeling doing whatever it takes in Whatever the conditions to make it happen i dont share near the same success you do because im definitely still learning but man oh man if i can become half the catfisherman you are id be satisfied awesome stuff man!
Nice Cats as usual. One big ass ole Flat for a rod & reel. Love that Country background & the smooth river. Nothing like a quiet morning fishing. Makes it better snagging the big boys... Keep em up!!
Top quality video, top quality fish and top quality angler. Look forward to seeing all your future videos. Have you ever thought about making a saltwater angling video? Stay safe and fish on.
Thanks Randy! The gear ratio on my new Abu Garcia reels are 5.3:1. I have never had a fish pull a rod out of the holder but I have lost a couple rods overboard due to fish knocking my other rods out of the holder when landing them.
Hello Mr. Justin i always enjoy your videos. Your the man fishing in a kayak. I have been watching your videos four a long time and have seen you get better over the yrs. I have a local dicks sporting goods here in Richmond Indiana could you tell me a good kayak to start fishing out of for beginners thank you besafe and god bless ya Justin.
Thanks Chad! The best advice I could give you is to go to a demo day at a local dealer so you can try out several different brands and models. That is the only way to find out which kayak will be the best fit for you.
Wow,at least one a video. compared to Last year you on a roll. Congrats on the pig you landed you just can't beat the adrenaline rush on a trophy cat love it.
You've really motivated me to start fishing for catfish from my kayak, but I'm a little concerned that if I hooked into one of those big ones that it'd tip over my 10 foot yak lol.
We had no luck with skipjack Saturday at the competition I mean my graph showed nice cats dropping an draggin on top of them had 1 good hit that was it.
Good video man keep it up bt u think u can do videos of how u read a topo map n like what u are looking for how to go about finding FLATHEAD for noobs like me 😆
Thanks! The best resource for learning how to read a contour map is the Buck Perry structure fishing book series. I learned everything I know about map reading from those books.
I went on a site seeing kayak tour while on vacation and thought it would be a lot of fun to try to catch a fish from one. When I got back home, I bought a kayak to try it out and the rest is history.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s 50+ pounders all over my stretch, but to catch 3 flatheads that size in one morning only usually happens with hoop nets or bank poles
All be damn I bet he's a 40 . I don't weigh any anymore unless I think it's in the 80 range. I'm close to a state record. They are going to spawn in 3 weeks in the south. His lip was ready to dig . It will be dead in a month. A pound carp with find cut off all night might get you a 50 plus. I like how you don't fake the size like all those other guids ..it's all real time action. Those flats hate rod tention. They pull it really slow like that. The slower that rod goes down the bigger. Them 100 pound flats won't move your rod at all because they don't move. They will suck a bait in from six foot away and just crush it and all you can feel is a tail threw the braid. That's wen them team double action hooks shine. I freespool for them. They get hooked by my 2 oz weight and then they run like a blue. If I tight line they spit it alot. I used shad and cut next to live gills and not one hit on cut. The lives got eaten before I could even set up for the night. That's so odd. I'm going to call the biolagest about that. He told me they only take cut if it's right next to them. He says they have to feel the vibration of a big struggling bait to draw them in. I bet they are stacked in there and it's right in front of them. I can't think of any other possible way. Or maybe sunfish are not common in that body of water so they feed on shad. Technical they don't really hunt. They are an ambush fish just like a rock bass or green sunfish. I lost an 80 pound Flathead. Them blues are sure beautiful though. You fish with the same gear I have. I like them Gama octo circle 8/0 or team 9/0 double action.
@@KayakCatfish I don't either. I did my biggest two the rest I just guess. My biggest one was 42 pounds but weight Wise I got a 60 pounder that was smaller but much more dense and fat . I also think 45 to 40 pounders fight harder than 60 plus. They don't take drag. The 30s can spool like a blue if you if you have a bad drag.
Success on youtube requires content. Ideally 2-3 videos per week minimum. Yes, really large baits will undoubtedly produce big fish a few times per year but most trips are going to be a bust and nobody wants to watch skunk videos. Plus I would be bored out of my mind doing it.
@@KayakCatfish yeah I know I had one out last year and nothing took it. Giant Flathead are very hard for content. Although I'm catching 2 30 to 40 pounders at dusk every trip. Then it's over until 5 to 6 am

Thank you! Congrats on that huge blue! That’s one heck of a catch.
Two rods getting hit at once, best kind of problem to have!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I'm telling you, your the best catfisherman I've seen on TH-cam or real life lol. Great video as always!
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment.

Your dinks are our big ones I live in nw Ohio and I use lots of diff baits thx for showing me there are big ones out there
Chad Wright those dink’s he’s catching are considered huge over here lol.
I hear fishing is pretty tough up there on Ohio. Hopefully it gets better someday.
Im in ohio as well but we do pretty good on the great miami the ohio an surrounding streams so mabey its jus knowing where to go!!!
Congrats!! Awesome Flatty
Thanks Tom!
Those are some awesome flathead. Great job, love your channel. Keep up the Great work.

Great job man ... I don’t know if you’ve already made the video, but a video of locating shad and how you store them would be cool lol
Thanks Ethan! I made a video about netting shad a few months ago. As for storing them, I just put them in a zip lock bag and pack them in ice.
Top quality video, top quality fish and top quality angler. Look forward to seeing all your future videos.
Have you ever thought about making a saltwater angling video?
Stay safe and fish on.
Thanks Robert! I hope to make some saltwater videos at some point. A hurricane ruined my last vacation that I had planned for the beach.
Keep On slaying those quality fish man love the content
Thanks!
Good job man, wow those were some nice flatheads!! Like you said one of those would’ve made my day lol. Great video man 👍🏻
Thanks Jeff!
I gotta get around to trying this
Hope you do. It’s a lot of fun.
Awesome nice flatheads keep up the good work
Thanks!
Awesome video Justin!
Thank you!
Saw you on the explore page on Instagram and came to your channel, great videos man keep it up!
Thank you Hayden! I appreciate you checking out my channel.
Kayak Catfish no problem
Really nice flattys why do you not like channel cats ?
Thanks! Channels here are mostly small and just steal bait.
Great video.....awesome fish. Curious as to the ratio on your reels and if you have ever had a big cat pull a rod holder out of the kayak.
Thanks Randy! The gear ratio on my new Abu Garcia reels are 5.3:1. I have never had a fish pull a rod out of the holder but I have lost a couple rods overboard due to fish knocking my other rods out of the holder when landing them.
Nice fish!
Thanks Wanda!
Great problem having to fall behind with keeping the rods baited and going home with a empty bait bag 👍🎣.
I’ll take that problem any day of the week.
Awesome action

What's up man love your videos when you anchor up what kind of set up do you use
Thanks! Check out my how to anchor a fishing kayak video.
That was a huge flat head. The others were nice too
Thanks Scott!
Another great video
Thank you!
I caught a bunch of channel cats and one tiny 6 lb Flathead. Was wondering if you can eat small Flathead cats? Or if they are no good?
I know plenty of people who eat them and say they taste good.
Deserves 400k more subs
Thank you!
Do you have a motor on that boat or just a paddle
I have an electric motor.

Suspending a couple feet off the bottom directly under me.

Thanks Brian! As long as people keep watching, I’ll keep making the videos.
That’s a super heavyweight of all flatheads
Thanks! I caught one even bigger than that in the next video that will air on Tuesday night.
Do a catch and cook pls
I don’t cook anything from this river. Our water is contaminated.
Ok sorry i litterally just subed 2 days ago
Where can you get gizzard shad at
I catch them with a cast net in creeks.
Hell yeah!
Thanks Travis!
That first flathead you put on the board but you never did tell us how long. I guessed 34 inches
It has been so long I don’t even remember. I’m sure you are probably right at 34 though
Nice

Must be nice for those fish to be considered dinks for you lol. An 8 pound fish could win you a one day local tournament around here
