*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
I have some Abu Cardinal 55s that I bought in 1980. I dont use them much these days but when I do get them out I can't wait to use them. Perhaps he just meant it that way 👍
I think it's just basically for any fish that may drag your rod off the rest. It's a handy reel to have if like myself you like to have a session on a coarse rod and lighter tackle for bigger specimens now and then.
Got 1 of these nice reels, only problem for me so far is the lack of a rear drag, so when you hit a big fish unlike the Shimanos in the range which have a rear drag.

RIP Jan, he passed away in April 2016. A great Angler 🙏🎣🎣🙏
Just ordered the 2500 model thanks to this video , can’t wait 🎣
I've just bought the 2500 today. How are you finding it?
I have a friend that uses one for pike. His biggest on it is 19.5lb. Holds up great. Had my doubts. But really good for the money

Hello. Which rod is used in the video?
Your the man Jan !!!!!!
How can jan porter fully recommend a reel that he can’t wait to use ? He has said he used it for x y z but goes on to say he can’t wait to use it
Maybe he got mixed up with big baitrunners he used for boat fishing. Good demonstration though and reel. I have one for method.

It is. You are not allowed to catch anything other than carp with it.
Superb reel given it's price.

??? He states rear drag and even demonstrates it; or am I misreading your reply?
The rear is the baitrunner drag, on the front you have the drag for playing the fish. The 6000 and 1000 ST have both drag systems on the back.
😂😂😂🤣
Anyone here still have this reel? It is still working? Plan to Buy one..thank you. .
Alesha Zahra had mine for 2 years now for saltwater deep sea. No issues at all
Thumbs down for a graphite spool.
