Set 0 is on the ground... gotta love rehearsing that somewhere in Louisiana in a mud pit with fire ants crawling all over you! Great show, congrats Vanguard!
I'm sure I have no idea what the judges look for in these performances because I just finished watching your DCI show in Indy and it was amazing. Your drum line win was well deserved you all work so well together as a team. I thought you were better than the Blue Devils by far but they always seem to get these high scores and I'm like what?? Top 2 for me was Blue Coats and SCV with you guys #1. Great job SCV I enjoyed every minute of your show!
yeah usually you should take context into a comment. yours was just kinda rude as clearly op meant if anyone knew of music. also even if it's easy for you it doesn't mean it will be for other. I DEFINITELY couldn't learn that lick without sheet music.
wut luckily I actually self-taught myself traditional grip when I was like 3-10 and now I'm not allowed to use it in band, but I still do and my band director just gives my the death stare and I start smiling 😂😂😂 I saw nt even know where this comment is about 😂😂😂 that is the funny thing 😂😂😂
the worst person i self taught myself traditional in a few months, it wasn't perfect in that time but it was passable. It takes a lot longer to perfect something than to learn it.
the worst person yeah it took me about a month or so to get comfortable with traditional. now when I play snare it's all I use. such a good grip and way more possibilities than matched
Prolly BD 18, lot of weird ratio rhythms and sticking, but if not that then bd 2016 but that’s purely because of the fast speed at which they had to play some weird stuff. If you send me your insta @ i can send you some sheets and show you what I mean

I have a tech and teacher who was 2010 SCV center (blond guy if you look for lot vids) and he has the same thing with a more relaxed and wide hand... might just be a vanguard thing, but who cares. They're all gods lol

TRUEE
Imagine living here😂
Gotta be honest I always come back to this video and think, this is the year that started it all.
holy shit me too
but for me this was the show that started it all

you guys had amazing percussionists this year, that best percussion award was well deserved
2:20 sun makes a v reflection on the head. Brand recognition is key.
Oh my god Austin's duts get me every time
The sticks look like the rubber pencil trick I use to do in middle school lol
It's called rolling shutter, digital cameras do this, check it out on violin/guitar strings, you can literally see wavelengths
I miss those days, practicing chops and running lol , not really. BUT i miss practice chops with the crew.
Duh breathe duh breathe duh breathe duh breathe
I am aware I march tenors
He also hits the drum with sticks to make sounds...you know...rhythmically.
Not to mention that he eats food when he's hungry. . .
not to mention he walks here and there
Does anyone know the lick at 9:48-9:54? It is pure FIRE to say the least!
+uasuka That answers the question, thanks :-/
I was hoping that someone could transcribe those 6 seconds but I see that it is a lot to ask.
+uasuka Okay young lady, duly noted.

The fisheye camera makes the drumsticks look floppy.
5:59 DUT DUT DUT (impact)
Excellent job! Congrats to you guys!
The opener to this was my 2017 snare audition music.
SMOKEY 5432 what is the name of this song
“Nyehehehe” moment, you guys were awesome

Spencer Harris they're great heads
I love there drum line this year
Absolutely amazing!!!
THREES!!!!! Awesome job Jonz.

ahs*
I love this video so much
How was the gopro mounted? love the video
Joey Marchese on his forehead
I know this is a snare video, but what sticks and mallets do the tenors use?
Paul Rennick has tenor mallets as well as sticks.
they use the Innovative TS-PR Paul Rennick Tenor Drumstick
What is that stick visual at 4:55,
how do you even do that?
Mach Z if you still don't know how to do it, it's on the Allentown lot video, just play it in slow mo!
Did they sand the butts of the stick?
Johnathan White IP just makes their sticks like that.
They're taped on the ends. They leave the hand section untaped.
Doesn't it seem like the 184 ish section of the show is supposed to be faster?
What kind of setup is this camera?
GoPro on the harness
+Jon Maynard like what go pro and frame rate
+Jordan Proffer oh. GoPro 3, 1080p, 60fps I believe
+Jon Maynard oh nice
It's actually a GoPro Hero 4 silver! Frame rate is right
this looks really fun but then i'd have to learn traditional grip
wut luckily I actually self-taught myself traditional grip when I was like 3-10 and now I'm not allowed to use it in band, but I still do and my band director just gives my the death stare and I start smiling 😂😂😂 I saw nt even know where this comment is about 😂😂😂 that is the funny thing 😂😂😂
With a good teacher, some discipline and good exercises you can learn it in a couple of months, that's what I did :)
the worst person i self taught myself traditional in a few months, it wasn't perfect in that time but it was passable. It takes a lot longer to perfect something than to learn it.
the worst person yeah it took me about a month or so to get comfortable with traditional. now when I play snare it's all I use. such a good grip and way more possibilities than matched
traditional grip is not that hard to learn :)
Are you center snare?
Austin was the center snare in 2016 and '17 and just aged out
Great video!
4:14-4:25 holy fucking shit
SG Airsoft Team thanks
ImThatRandomDude I can play it but like 130 bpm
ImThatRandomDude ikr I wish I could do that, but I'm only 13 I hope I learn how to do that in high school
+Jon Maynard. What sticks 1 or 2. Thanks in advance
Jordan Droomer can't say for sure but I'm 99% sure they use PR2s
thanks so much man. helps alot
yeah those are 100% pr-2s. my school's line uses them, they have a very recognizable shape and are the gold standard of marching snare sticks
Yeah they use pr2 sticks, i read the label
12:26 anyone hear that messed up dut
What sticks are those ?
Immortal Xeno Innovative Percussion FS-PR2
Great stuff. Congrats and thanks!
Traditional on a flat battery has always puzzled me...
1st place percussion :)))
Man, that's a lot of ridiculously complicated rhythms.
William Austin Smith haha welcome to drum corps
Ur just bad
Hey what sticks do you guys use?
Paul Rennick PR2's
what kind of sticks are being used?
Brian Tan Paul Rennick FS-PR
Ian V FS-PR 2's
I wanna play snare but im learning mallets i can play all the scales and minor scales
Aaron Hickerson glad to hear it! We need more well rounded percussionists in this world :)
Wyatt Hatch yeah lol it's hard learning but you just gotta do it i was playing drums today!
Has anyone transcribed the snare break at 4:13 yet?
its on snarescience page 158
What snares are those ?
RussellJamesMusics Dynasty brand drums
is there a tenor cam?
Coming soon!
+Jon Maynard 👌 😎 👌
what was that band music or something towards the beginning
nvm
So I’m going to say it: this is the hardest book ever written. If you disagree with me in the comments, please name a harder book.

Biggest mistake i ever made was not doing drum core. All those shirtless guys ...
9:36
4:05
3:25
ohhhhhhh borbie 9:55
goom
Thats a lot of notes
KJKING326 yet it's still so clean!
What kind of god awful technique is that? Is it normal for SCV to stick their middle fingers up?
It's not out too far, it's the angle more than anything
I hear that sound quality is valued more than absolute proper technique
Eh, as long as the whole line is uniform I don't think it matters as much
I have a tech and teacher who was 2010 SCV center (blond guy if you look for lot vids) and he has the same thing with a more relaxed and wide hand... might just be a vanguard thing, but who cares. They're all gods lol
they go for sound, if you look at their hands they may look like shit but they sound like Gods. not saying his look like shit but generally speaking
What sticks do the snares use?
Thanks.
joey cheese
yooooooooo
I love your new drum!!
Paul Rennick FS-PR
