Inside the cottage, the atmosphere was one of warmth and coziness. A large, stone fireplace roared with a crackling fire, its flames dancing and casting a warm, golden glow that flickered across the room. The scent of burning wood mingled with the earthy aroma of freshly baked apple pie cooling on the kitchen counter.
The rain began softly at first, a gentle patter against the roof and windows. But soon, it intensified into a steady, soothing downpour. From the comfort of the overstuffed armchair by the fire, Emma watched as the rain transformed the world outside into a shimmering tapestry of droplets and mist.
