the last one wasn't stuck just having a good old scratch.
farmers pay more per sheep to have their wool cut off than what they make from selling it, the wool is an inconvenient by-product of lamb meat and sheep's milk. it also wouldn't surprise me if those buying the wool pay more in transport/delivery cost than what they spend on the wool

literally found a fence going vertically down a cliff one time in NZ
That square type of wire fencing is what we used to call 'pig netting' here on our farm in the UK. It is designed to keep pigs in a field not sheep. Square holes always mean sheep get stuck as they push their head through to eat grass on the other side. Sheep fencing here in the UK has small round holes to stop them getting their heads stuck.
The sheep getting stuck multiple times is what peak sheep evolution looks like
That`s like the stupidity of humanity. We have stucked so many times but never learn from history and there you go. I hope we make it this time but it is painful to watch what is going on.

I'm a jaded old guy but am concerned the sheep got hurt.
If so, it's dinnertime with sheep on the menu.

I love sheep and have hand raised a lot of them. They are loyal, affectionate, intelligent, protective of their flock, but nah yeah, they get into some really stupid trouble sometimes. And if there's a horrible way to die a sheep will do it. I had to check the paddocks several times a day during rain and when they had a full fleece, because they'd fall over from the weight and couldn't get up again. They're also really warm and snugly on a frosty cold day. I forgot to add that they are very very funny sometimes. I had one that loved getting on the trampoline with me.
You are correct, I keep horses and in the paddocks adjacent to ours are sheep. I've spent some time rescuing them, esp during lambing season when the lambs are little escape artists. The adults just love to get stuck in bramble bushes. Just a few briars in their wool and they stand there waiting for death. It always amazes mw how easily they give up.

@@angelkotilainen People don't realise that sheep are like wolves in that there is an alpha in every flock. They trust in the alpha to guide them and when they're separated from the flock they're, well, they're lost sheep.
@@elizabethscott7660 You know that common notion about "alpha wolves" is a myth, right? What they observed in that study were just the parents/breeders of the pack, which obviously had the more dominant position over their pups.

I swear stock fencing is designed specifically for sheep to get stuck in. Probably free at least one sheep a week.

Yeah goats and other animals have issues with the same fencing, but it's expensive and having to cut and mend and string two ply fencing is just unrealistic. Which is why many people go for barbed wire and electrical fencelines and then they do some pretty messed up things to get the animals to touch it to realize they will get jolted so they learn to avoid the fenceline as a whole. Problem with electric line in my area is weedeating the grass under and around it to keep the lines electrified and without a drag on the circuit. Otherwise you have a jurassic park situation where you don't understand why the fences are down and you have to figure that out while you are herding and rounding up the escapees and it's usually in crap weather on the hottest or coldest day of the year, and that's why you bottle feed them so they are tame enough to come to you cause they know you have feed, or like the salty good french fries, that 4 out of 5 doctors warn you about eating, or whatever.
Always be aware when you drive next to electric fences however because if a deer or other animal tries to escape getting hit by your car but gets zapped my the line it will turn right back around and then get hit by your car anyway, unless it suddenly remembers how to vault it like an Olympic Gymnast.
Oh and also, don't pee on electric fencelines even if you have the equipment to do it during a pit stop in farm country. Might just be a myth but do you really wanna find out?

I used to be a farmer. A sheep can stuck just by rolling over onto its back, they can get stuck in a patch of brambles absolutely wrapped up like parcel. They can get their heads stuck in a fence, they can definitely get stuck in any narrow space. Almost always the root cause is their obsessive search for food and eating.

Everytime I hear “ya big bloody beautiful bastards” I know it’s all going to be okay.
You should buy the Ozzyman keychain. One of the buttons has that line. I like to press that button when i enter a new setting, or meeting up with friends. Sometimes I'll accidentally sit on it, or hit against something, and it'll randomly say it. It always gets a good laugh, and it makes my day. It's absolutely worth it with that one line alone, but there are 5 more as well!

@Satan McDougal yes but no, if you WATCH the video, you can see the sheep is already stuck, not being stuck, and then is helped into a state of being unstuck, then suicides down a hill. My thoughts and prayers go out to the sheep and its family, after what must have been quite an awful struggle-snuggle once released it just could not take it any more, so sad, will be having a candle lit vigil to remember the feels.

Sheep are so frickin dense. But your commentary is legendary.
My family had a few horses for awhile. One was wicked smart. He could open the gate, get into the garden, and when my mom came running, he'd go back to the pen and try to close the gate like nothing happened. He got a branch stuck on his leg once and panicked until I came to help. He actually stopped bucking and stood perfectly still looking at me like "Please get this thing off of me." He even turned a bit like he was showing me the leg that was caught.
On the other hand, one of our other horses was so clumsy and accident prone. He poked his eye on something, once got startled by a bird and ran through the fence, ended up eating too much one time and had to be walked around to avoid colic, oh and he slipped in some mud and permanently injured his back. He couldn't be ridden, but he was still cared for.
I knew a guy whose new wife was worried she wouldn't be able to cope with the seasonal lamb slaughtering on his family's sheep farm. Within weeks, however, she'd crossed over to the dark side - "They're too dumb to live!"
Aint that the straight truth. Them and goats.

actually, the world is backwards because these days it glorifies qualities of pushy, stubborn, aggressive, fighting qualities. That's what the goat represents in scripture. Sheep are meek, humble, peaceful, loyal. For example: today the expression "Bad ass" is a compliment. Jesus said "blessed are the poor in spirit for their's is the kingdom of heaven". A goat has no hope.

I grew up in a farm with sheep. They are way more emotionally complex and cuter than they seem. Some develop a bound with the people that feed them and take care of them.

Sheep getting stuck is an everyday hazard of country life. They never learn, and when you rescue them the bastards thank you by trying to kill you. And they stink, so *you* end up stinking and your wife asks what you were doing up close and personal with a sheep. Tricky.

I rescued a stuck sheep once. It got a leg wedged in the fork of a small tree and broke the leg trying to get out. I had to lever the leg out with a piece of wood it was so stuck. Sheep didn't make a single squeak even though it must have hurt like hell tugging on the broken leg. Brave little girl she was.
