I would like to give some additional points on this topic:
* NBIOT is introduced in Rel-13 and freezed in Rel-16
* Inter-RAT cell Reselection is not supported
* Very low power/battery consumption
* No mobility
* No voice support
* CATNB messages are standalone and do not have any dependency on re-12 or rel-11 or any previous releases.
* One can completely remove these messages and implement CAT4 or CATM projects.
* No ETWS/CMAS indication IEs in paging Message
* Mobility related information like CSFBParametersRequestCDMA2000, MeasurementReport,
counterResponse, counterCheck, H/O, mobilityFromEUTRA, loggedMeasConfig etc are not present.
* Make use of HFN [MIB will have HFN-LSB and SIB-1 will have HFN-MSB]
* Offers very low speed (less than 10KBPS)
* Requires only 200KHz Bandwidth
* High powered antennas are not at all required
* Consumes less memory footprint
