Who wouldn't like her version? It's stellar, and she's a frickin' legend! The whole point of these covers is for people to put their own spin on AIC, not to pretend they're Layne and Jerry.
People are confused. They expect something that sounds similar to the original. But, what would be the point of that? She is going to put herself into it and try to do a different take. I know it's hard for people to not compare it to the original, but that's what you have to do.
Respect. How on earth has Ann Wilson retained her voice for so long. It's far from the best version of the song, but her ability to keep pumping out those notes for five decades is amazing.
It makes me so happy that Alice in Chains is in the spotlight again. When Layne died, I went numb for several days. His voice was so insanely beautiful.
For a 70-year-old, her voice is absolutely phenomenal. Almost sounds like she's still in her prime which is very impressive given the fact she's been doing this for 50 years!
She is amazing...what a voice. She isn't Layne...but that's the point. One legend honoring another NOT trying to duplicate or replace. Tremendous respect 🙌.
I love how they interspersed the footage of the guys playing along with the cover players. And she does nail the chorus all the way up to the Layne above!
