One of the most interesting thing is that you wsnt to "wear them in", which is something that makes me throw away a notebook instantly, because I want them to look neat.

Looking forward to your videos in 2024. Your channel has been an inspiration. I started to carry a passport sized notebook as an EDC item after watching some older video of yours. Really dig your FN collection!
I copied your idea of leaving the first page blank! It really helps to start a new, fancy notepad. And numbering them is the second idea that i borrowed! Greetings from Latvia!

Hope you don't slow down too much Lucas. Really enjoying your content. I have come full circle - As a journalist, I always used ot be a notebook user. But having switched primarily to LiveStreaming, a lot of my note taking became digitised. But I have missed the analogue approach too much so I am switching back in 2024. And I will be following your guidance as I stock up!

Excellent video. Thank you. The most surprising thing in my year was picking up a jumbo Staedtler Tradition triangular 2B pencil - it is not only super comfortable but a very smooth writer. Although it is designed for kids, it is a superb pencil for long writing sessions.

I have completely adopted your small notebook method and love the Fieldnotes, but I also have some others.
I’ve always struggled with how to keep notes, but I’m a messy writer, doodler and note taker.
So now I use the small NB for everything but once it’s filled I transfer important notes to a series of others. One for work, another for medical notes, etc.
It really works for me and I got the idea here!!
I have a collection of new ones and it’s so much fun to pick the next one!

Was my first year doing planners, journaling, and pocket notebooks with any consistency.
I use the uniball jet stream 0.38mm for when I’m doing stuff in my planner. I usually also use that or a Pigma Micron for journaling.
As far as the notebooks: for my planner/journal I use the Cortex Brand Notebook. And my pocket notebooks are the three pack of moleskine pocket notebooks. All with dot grid - I like the structure it allows but that it’s easy to ignore as well.

Thanks for another great video! Most commonly used gear for me in 2023: 15 Field Notes notebooks (edc), Muji A5 dot grid (personal project), composition notebook 4x4 grid (work), Blackwing Natural and 651 extra firm pencils, Koh-i-noor 5608 lead holder, Indigraph fountain pen, Field Notes FN-31 gel pen, Sarasa Mark On 0.5 mm gel pen, Kaweco Lilliput ballpoint, Pokka ballpoint pocket pen, Field Notes FNC-58C eraser. 🤓

I use it as my everything book - todos, thoughts, book notes (which I transfer to a project notebook), book recommendations (transfer to a dedicated FN, thanks to you), blood pressure results (my doctor wants me to check it daily), sketches, … well, everything 🤓 That’s how they fill up so quickly. I’ve been using Field Notes off and on since 2012. (I have some without the trademark on their logo!) 2023 is the first year I used them regularly, and that’s because of your channel. Thank you for sharing your passion for Field Notes and everything stationery. Be well and stay curious! 😊

  • @CinkSVideo

I keep a TWSBI Vac Mini on my Travelers Passport notebook. It’s inked with a water resistant Noodlers Empire Red. Great pen! It’s my EDC set up. A monthly calendar, lists, general notes, and one book for more meaningful writing/notes. Travelers systems lend themselves well to this kind of setup.
I’m a serious fountain pen user and rotate through pens and inks. I usually have between three and five inked. Really hard to pick a favorite. I often have a TWSBI Eco in the mix and/or a Lamy AlStar. I’m inching my way to a Grail pen, with a Sailor King of Pens being the top end of what I currently have.
I use the full size Travelers for my daily diary for work. Apica for story/play writing. Field Notes for journals and activity tracking (hiking, camping, instrument practice, etc.) Finally broke down and subscribed to Field Notes. Much better savings over how I had been buying them. I have a Murdy Notebook that’s much like a moleskine for to dos and general tasks.

    4) Ink is light black or Dark black
    5) Does the Ink Skip on paper, leaving gaps in writing
    6) Is it comfortable in the hand ,for writing and why
7)Price ranges / is it budget or expensive

Fun review! I purchased the set of Signs of Spring Filed Notes. I’ve been wanting them a long time and after watching a video where you decided to use one of yours, it’s been on my mind. Looking forward to using them once my current Field Notes & homemade pocket notebook are used up.
I also got the TWSBI Diamond with a fin nib early in 2023. I love it! I’m not loving the Blackwing softer pencils I had bought a box of. I would like to try the firmer Palominos - maybe in 2024, but the box I have was a little pricey. 🤔
Thanks for the tip on the Kum pencil sharpener! I loved my Blackwing sharper but misplaced it somewhere and didn’t want to pay for a new one yet.
Happy new year! Glad to hear you’ll keep making videos in 2024. I like your style and I think it’s a good balance to other similar content. I am a mix of more utilitarian and a little pretty. Most of all it’s the tactile, analog experience I crave in stationary.

Great video as always. I have a Twsbi Diamond 580 w/a medium nib and that thing is a gusher! I enjoy it but cant use certain inks w/it. I've been using Platinum Carbon in my Pilot Vanishing point in Fine and it bleeds thru the new tomoe river paper. Can you believe?! I've never had anything bleed thru tomoe paper. Was pretty shocked that a fine nib did that. Oh well. My trusty pen that I had inked almost the whole year was a Narwhal Peter Draws Pen in Fine. UGH! That nib is glorious! so smooth and reliable from day 1. It's the first pen that has given me that experience. This year I used an old(2020ish, when they use to be handmade) Soumkine Notebook, such a nice experience.

I have allways considered carrying a field notes type notebook as edc. I guess I just wonder, what is worthy of writing down on a day to day? What sort of things do you put in there? I keep logbooks in my bookshelf for maintenance on my motorcycles and such and sticky pads to jot things like bolt torques and stuff down while I work in my garage. Writing something by hand is very satisfying. If im asking a question answered in a video already just point me that direction and id be happy to watch. Thanks!

    • @BlankFirstPage
      @BlankFirstPage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

What a great question. I put very mundane and everyday things in my notebooks - to do lists, shopping lists, tracking my expenses. I also had a motorcycle a few years ago and used to log maintenance in there as well. I am a big believer that all these everyday things are in fact the most important things to note down. It can be daunting thinking you need to write down some deep or important thoughts, but the every-day note is the most critical thing to write down. I love going back into my notebooks and seeing my scratchings for places I've been, appointments I've logged or ideas for furniture I wanted to build.
I've got a few videos on specifically what I fill my notebooks with:

I have a video coming out about this in the future, but I would highly recommend the Tombow Mono 100 in HB. Pricing depends on what is available to you.
