Honestly in my 2.5k hrs in rust I didn’t know the mechanic worked like this I just learned to get faster and accurate still not as fast as this but pretty fast gonna start using this trick!
It works like that on consoles as well you clear inventory of other materials but the one you want say example stone keep stone and clear others out then hit x/square depending on console to upgrade quickly
I've watched you for a little while now and you quickly became one of my favourite building youtubers. It's crazy how much you've taught me along the way, thank you for all the content man, really love the video style. And you know what it feels like it's time someone says it back to you: hope to catch you again soon and much love ❤️
Absolutely fantastic tutorial. Didn't waste any time trying to plug stuff or slowly explain it to pad out the time. Just a quick, entertaining video that explains exactly what I came for and nothing more. Keep it up!
THANK YOU! I have wondered how to do this for so long and never seen anything explaining how. This kind of info should be way more prolific across the Rust community.
@@GameLightz What about placing new tiles as stone or metal right off the bat? Is that a local server / admin priviledge that people enable via a mod or command of some sort?
Thank you for making this video, I've seen TH-camrs do this but never knew how and always assumed it was ether a server mod or an editing trick. I will now be using this all the time.
Man, every single one of your vids has contained top notch tips I have never heard, or a better way to use old techniques. You rock, I tell all my RUSTY friends about you.
I've known about this trick for a while but wouldn't use it because I had to go from twig ->wood->stone. Never thought to drop wood out of my inventory. Sometimes the answer is right there. Thanks for the tip.
I never knew this so I tried it and it worked. Thought it was amazing but in the process of trying it out several times, I learned you don't even need to pull up the wheel first. Just start holding left click with the hammer and press right click to insta upgrade. My life is changed.
I wondered how to do this when I began watching aloneintokyo's videos. At first I thought he was simply upgrading REALLY fast to the point where the upgrade menu doesn't have time to appear but this video clearly shows that isn't the case. Thanks!
KCMO introduced this years ago. I've always pressed both mouse buttons down at the same time, which does the same thing. If you're going for a speed record I think you could shave a couple of seconds by standing in the middle of the two square tiles, and with default lookatradius you should be able to hit every foundation, ceiling and wall, apart from the inner airlock.
Damn, you have the best tips and tricks on Rust :)) I started to play Rust again because I saw your tutorial of "The Best Trio Base".Good job! Keep on the awesome work and I also love your editing skills. I look forward for your next videos!
I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 7K HOURS AND HAD NO CLUE! THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!!! 🤯 thanks for taking the time to show us that trick! definitely going to be putting it to use!
Im gonna be honest, Ive known about the cursor automatically going onto the next available material, but my slow brain didnt think to just take out the wood out of my inventory so i wouldnt have to upgrade to wood first
Long ago it was possible to upgrade right afte swapping to the hammer from the building plan,it was in that era that this method came up and you can imagine the salty rivers we saw while getting onlined and just rebuilding fast af since there was no rebuild lock after a structure was destroyed (i once saw a macro doing that in less than 0.4 seconds, not even the time for a raider to swap from rocket launcher to weapon), glad to see the upgrade part is not gone lost in the years tho, i kinda forgot this method since with experience i started not feeling the need for that anymore. Great job at spreading informations!
@@GameLightz well, looking at what happened to a bunch of mods and hidden features we had over the game's lifespan, i guess some of them will be implemented into the game itself if the playerbase response is good enough, so keep spreading those kind of details wich some day may be implemented into che game! Some examples: minicopters were a mod before being implemented, boats too, there was a rudimental eletricity mod and also elevators, crosshair being implemented even if not so common on moddeds due to player response, external cosshairs count as response/feedback since it's still a player choise to have it or not (@readers: don't even start comparing this logic of "feedback" with scripters or we will end up writing walls about a thing that should need an entire forum network to be discussed). Im sure there's more into that but i switched rust on and off in the years from alpha to now, so i must have missed something. Have a good day everyone!
Been building bases for a long time, once you get used to it you can have wood and stone in your inventory and upgrade as fast as if you only had stone.
Saw tokyos video where he stands in the line between the two foundations to upgrade whole base without moving but he either didn't do the instant upgrade or I missed it.
Wish I had learned this back when I started. For a while I was building with 2 triangles to start just so I could get my base set before getting boinked. Once I even had someone hiding in a bush and as soon as my team mate put the code lock on he leaped out and put a code in! I was locked inside the base with not much inventory about 10 mins into the game. We ended up leaving, it was a terrible way to start. Good luck in your RUST journey, having a partner is so helpful but no guarantee of success by any means, lol. It is a tough world as a solo.
Btw you can have other resources but this trick will auto do the lowest tier so if you want stone wall don’t have wood on you. Want metal wall don’t have stone and wood on you pre simple but saves hella time
Honestly in my 2.5k hrs in rust I didn’t know the mechanic worked like this I just learned to get faster and accurate still not as fast as this but pretty fast gonna start using this trick!

Daaammn!! I was aleays thinking how they do that fast??!!! 🤷🥴 ( Yeah!after 3khours....)

10k hour here. I doesn't Know that. But i make something like that. I only keep the Stone and i press the click buttons at the same time.

I didn't think I had much left to learn, thank you as always for the tip my friend.
Figured this out on my first 10 hours of the game. Amazing what a little commonsense and ingenuity can do for ya
Bro! I am speechless. I’ve been playing Rust for years and I didn’t know this? Thank you Sir.

I appreciate that!
Good thought. I never even think to teach these things too noobz cos it's so ingrained in my playstyle.
I knew there is a way to do it so quick, I was always wondering when watching Blooprint how he upgrade so fast, now I know.
Thank you so much man this was so useful, I will try it in my next wipe to see if it works. big ups!
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, MAN this saved me hours of upgrading, realllyyy great content mate , keep it up

From the obscure meta.add or ~ functionality, to the lesser known craft.add functions.
Thanks for the idea!
