I love watching Hop Along Cassidy William Boyd was a great actor and played his part just the way he lived his life great movies he made and I watch them every day they make me feel good
some of the best series ever made...i would absolutely love to have an original 1940's tv set with all these great Hopalong Cassidy series on, and i would religiously watch them...i love this! so many great laughs, and supreme acting...
Love Hoppy, simple straightforward and a character that ran constant through all the movies and tv shows Brings me back to my childhood every time I watch
Movie executives said that Mr. Boyd, who couldn't ride a horse, had made Hopalong too much of a gentleman. But,‐he persisted, became a good rider and adopted Topper who would be his mount for 19 years. He sure made riding look easy for him. Love Hopalong.
Hoppy's iconic white horse was named Topper. Hopalong Cassidy movies (66 of them) from the 1930’s and 1940’s were shown on early TV in the 50’s adding to his popularity! William Boyd and Topper appeared in parades around the country in the 1950s that would easily draw 100,000 people! A documentary hosted by the western actor Dennis Weaver (who played Chester on ‘Gunsmoke’) said Boyd made two world tours and was seen by 20 million children! For us kids who grew up then, we had Hopalong Cassidy gun belts, lunchboxes, watches, trading cards, comic books, etc.! The Hoppy movies had high production values for western films of that era. The consummate western hero! As they say, a "straight shooter!' And that laugh!!! The best laugh in the westerns!!! Hah-hah-hah!!!
The daughter Dorrie was played by Jane Clayton who was the mother for the first 4 seasons in TV's "Lassie." She and Hoppy's sidekick Lucky - Russell Hayden - were actually married to each other when this picture was made!
I absolutely love the time long ago whete the good guys wore white hats and always won the battles over the bad guys without the blood and gore as well as the cruising. Our children learned what the meaning of "GOOD GUYS MEANT". Thank you so much for remembering such wonderful entertainment!
I think it's neat that these movies had the same women's wardrobe clothes so we see different actresses wearing the same clothes much of the time. I recognize the dress that the girl is wearing from a movie I watched just yesterday. I only watch Hopalong Cassidy movies mostly. I like him better than Roy Rogers or Gene Autry. My mother was a nurse who once worked with a nurse who was Gene Autry's aunt. She said that her nephew hadn't known the head from the tail of a horse before he started making the movies that he was in. 😊😊😊😊😊😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I met and shook hands with Hoppy at the Canadian Ex ,he looked ten feet tall every garbage day my mother would throw out my Hoppy hat and the next day I would appear wearing it .
Poor Topper !!! He certainly got the short end of the stick in this episode. I wonder how it felt about Hoppy's mounting on the wrong side of him? 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I like to make a correction, HC disguise himself as easterner specializing in Rat Traps! Not a writer of Western novels. I wish Charlotte Wynters, had performed in more than 2 episodes.
@@timothyplonk4266 Clayton Moore who played The Lone Ranger on the TV series did not ride Topper. William Boyd bought Topper in 1937 and after that only Hoppy rode him. Before that he rode a horse called King Nappy that belonged to the studio stables. King Nappy had an injury and could not be riden and Topper was the replacement in 1935. Hoppy bought him and his wife, Grace, named him. After that only Hoppy rode him. There was an actor by the last name of Hart that played The Lone Ranger in early movies and he rode King Nappy also but after 1937 no one rode Topper but Hoppy. Hoppy has a Museum in Cambridge, Ohio where he was raised in early life. Topper died in 1961 and is buried in Calabasas at the Pet Memorial Park. It can be found on Find-a-Grave website Hoppy rode Topper thru The Pumpkin Show parade in Circleville, Ohio in the mid to late 50s. I got to see him and meet him thru his sponsor, for which he was in advertisements for, MED-O-PURE DAIRY. He was a striking figure in Black with his silver trimmed guns, holster and saddle and that silver hair when he lifted his hat to wave it and always with that big, beautiful smile of his. Ohio is proud to claim him!
The visual is so poor in this movie is so bad so that I can barely make out what's happening. I'll watch I bit more and see if it gets better. However, if not possible I may have to find another Hopalong Cassidy movie to watch!!!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Hoppy and Windy with toothbrushes? I suspect that may have something to do with the young fans who may be watching this movie to encourage them to brush their teeth!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
thank you for posting these Hopalong Cassidy movies ..
that I really enjoy watching .
it is very appreciated..
Good old days r the best; respectful real rugged men can't beat it; I love it!

One of my favorite Hoppy films. Loved it!
I love Hoppy so much and watch him daily.
I wish movies like this were being made today. Still have the memories. Hoppy is still The Man.

I always thought Hoppy looked kinda small on Topper although he was the perfect horse for Hoppy. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
What a great and funny actor Hopalong Cassidy is playing the wimp. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hoppy had the greatest laugh ever. Thanks for showing.
The All Time Best in the business [men, along with Dezi Arnez]; And for the women: Bea Benaderet (My opinion).
They cannot stop the old time western just luv them
Back in 1938 Hoppy was on top of the world.
Gabby, was the best sidekick ever,
🤠🏇😇✌🎥
I love hoppalong Cassidy he's the best
There were a lot of great western heroes, but for me Hoppy was number one. I love his card game scenes.
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Old Western Movies though. 👍👌👏
An of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
This is as good a movie as any of the 100's I have seen. Well made, good action, good story line, excellent acting, and very nice music.

Thank you for the that great info any bit of true life happenings only make it that more special kind regards Paul from Australia ❤aq😅❤😅❤😅
I get a kick out of hearing them referring to the station wagon and seeing that it’s a horse drawn vehicle. 😊😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I kinda liked Hoppy coming in as a tenderfoot! People underestimating me is one of my favorite ploys! 🤭🤫
my opinion 🦂🍻

Hoppy in his “get up” as someone else is as good as The Lone Ranger was.
thank you, good entertaining movie.
What a beautiful voice that woman has. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never realized Boyd was such a good actor. His "dude" is a hoot.
He had a career before the Hoppy series, he was one of the highest paid in Hollywood. Read his story on Wikipedia.
@@bethdavis7812 Like Gene Autry, he was no dumb cowboy, buying up all his movies which again made him a very wealthy man.

Thanks, I enjoyed this film
This is a really good Hopalong Cassidy movie. Seeing Hoppy play the role of a " Nervous Nellie", really shows off William Boyd's acting chops.
“There are still men in this country that will lay down their lives FOR THE RIGHT!” I pray we can get those men in Congress and clean it up!
Movies with R. Hayden ' appeared ' better than with Ellison !
A 1938 movie with Hop Along Cassidy !

I only met one actor in my life. A guy named Ronald Reagan. I think he was running for something when I met him in 1980.
I met Jaime Farr (Klinger from M.A.S.H.)
What a memory of an all around wonderful actor and role model for children in the 30-40-50’s. Enjoyed your post.
In my opinion, California stole the show. He was hilarious as the English man. And as I stated below, so was Hoppy.
Riogi!I know so do I but it’s not easy watching alone in your old age! Lol
Poor Topper !!! He certainly got the short end of the stick in this episode. I wonder how it felt about Hoppy's mounting on the wrong side of him? 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
There Mr Steve, I guess she put you in your place!!! Good for her!!! 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I think it's a good movie. I'll watch.
During the fight scene between Steve and Windy, the girl kept calling Windy "Lucky". They sure let that slide. Lol.
LOVE,THAT CASSIDY LAUGH.

WTF FREESES UP AND GOES BLANK HALF WAY THROUGH SUNSET TRAIL
I like the lauh he had and topper
TUBI has Hopalong Cassidy TV shows Free with ads 👍👏👊
Watch Hopalong Cassidy’s Topper bite some hairs out the mane of another horse at 9:52
She remembers the serial numbers on the stolen money. Baloney!
Hey don't chase gabby he never has any money
when he says, do you want to come with me, he means your paying

Hoppy Rules. There isn't a western today -- not a recent one with its foul mouthed grammar and failed humor attempts that can begin to compare👍🇺🇸
i keep telling glenn, go get a job at the longbranch, he will listen one day
Just curious- Does anyone know what type of horse Topper was? Looks to big for a quarter horse. Possibly Andalusian?
@sgbobsg spot on prof
Not sure the type of horse, however I did read that Hopalong and The Lone Ranger both rode the same horse.

The Lone Ranger rode Silver and Silver was a different horse from Topper, the horse that Hopalong Cassidy rode. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Jan Clayton as Dorrie Marsh.
This is labeled 1938. However I’m pretty sure the release date was February 24th 1939.
Mance Rayder you are correct, the correct release year for this movie is indeed 1939.😎🇱🇷👍😎
