- We’re still in year-end list-making mode when it comes to the best sneakers of 2024. With the dust from the ComplexCon Sneaker of the Year panel finally settled, we’re revisiting that compilation to briefly go over our final sneaker of the year selections. More than that, cohosts Joe La Puma, Brendan Dunne, and Matt Welty talk about their personal favorite shoes from 2024, like Ronnie Fieg’s run of Kith Asics and the Stash x Nike Air Max 95s. Also, they discuss the Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache release in New York, the “Legend Blue” Air Jordan 11 release, and the biggest flop sneakers of 2024.

Personal Shoe Of The Year lists are much more interesting than list of shoes you think are peoples favorite from the year. Joe has a pattern of liking pink color on shoes. Also so refreshing to see Matt being positive about retro Jordans. My most worn pair this year green HUF X AM 1. I think people totally slept on these. Perfect shoe for all weather conditions. Will now go to StockX to get me the Stash AM95 now. Thanks Brendan 🙏🏻

Glad JLP is sticking with the pink 991v2 from the city pack. I have them and the yellow ones and they're definitely my favorite NB of 2024. The hi-liter pink suede with the black laces goes crazy, IMO

The current consumer climate is so much healthier now than in past years. Good sneakers are sitting on shelves because we have time to think and choose what we want to buy as opposed to feeling like if we don't strike RIGHT NOW we're going to have to pay $100+ on resale sites. Let's not go back to this. People are getting what they want and wearing it isntead of reselling. This is a good thing.

The KidsOfImmigrants SNDR Max is like the elephant in the room.. took forever to mention them. It seems as if people are hesitant to give them their flowers because they kinda came out of nowhere but it’s easily a top 3 if not the best sneaker of the year from an aesthetic standpoint. I understand it’s a bit early though.
Sidenote: Wish they did green/yellow instead of yellow/orange

As someone who was old enough to see Jordan play, I don’t understand how these retros end up on “end of the year” list. The colorway’s haven’t changed, it’s just the same shoe being released over and over.

Having mostly GR's on the list makes more sense than flooding the list with rare collabs.
Personal favorites not talked about CDG Foams were a beyond great shoe this year along with the NOCTA and JFG new balances 990 made in USA

If we are going to mention the GR dominated sneaker of the year, yes the Asics runners are still going strong, but also the NB 9060, NB1906r and NB 2002r, and Sambas have been the most worn on these streets all over NYC.
Exactly. I barely see people wear Jordan's and Dunk's anymore. And that's what sneaker execs care the most about not the tiny minority of sneakerheads. They want to move units not limited releases that sit on shelves.

Almost as weird as people who worry about album sale stats. Is he also under the impression Nike didnt flood the world with pairs..? That they made 50k pairs and they're still sitting? Consumers can get whatver shoe they truly want, froma retailer. Stress free, dont have to worry about its authentication or any potential issues with returning. This is the biggest win in sneaker collecting in a decade.

Futura Laboratories x Dunk Low SB "Bleached Aqua' ::: And the Quality Control on the black cement 3’s was poor enuff to not want to purchase a shoe .. and the legend blue 11’s classic colorway but most favor the other OG colorways…. And too many pairs made … and other things playing in the background consumers are smarter now and trends shifting play a part too …

Stash 95 is the easy winner. Futura one is nice and cute and I love em but in terms of wear-ability, colors, shape, edginess I think the 95 takes it easy.

I think the gammas were such a big deal bc in 2013.. Jordan didn't really make new color ways for 11s... Doesn't seem like a big deal now bc there's jubilees, win like 96, win like 85 etc.. but that just wasn't a thing in 2013. JB basically stuck to the concord, breds, etc. back then
The list this year was just average and there was some great misses in the year - Minted Saucony, AMM 3s, Dunk big money big savings, NB 991V2 Blue, KAi 1s, and a few others who should have been mentioned. There shoudld be sneaker of the year for actual new kicks not retro. Retro of the year and performance sneaker of the year. 3 lists.
