ka1133 Rick has the right idea. It can be very difficult to have a turkey come out truly moist from the oven. I can't tell you how many times throughout the years I have ate baked turkey dinners that were dry and bland. I would be willing to bet that Rick's turkey is delicious and very moist.
As someone who loves turkey but I'm disabled so I find it too hard to cook turkey in the over and have to babysit it but this way is so good and juicy. I can finally have turkey again. I love my instant pot sooo much ,it's just set it and go. Thanks for this recipe
2020 Thanksgiving was my first pressure cooked turkey and it was excellent. Very easy 14# 90 minutes and the breast wasn't dry the next day for sandwiches. Will not go back to oven. Very succulent!
Just a tip for when you do this again, it might be helpful if you dry the turkey off first before torching it. Makes it get nice and crispy faster! But thank you for the video I'm definitely going to try this!!
Hi Rick! Thank you for posting your pressure cooker videos. I bought one after watching you and recommending these to young moms to save time in the kitchen. You are an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for demonstrating how to cook a turkey in 60 minutes in a pressure cooker! Butterballs website says it takes 4 hours 30 minutes to bake a stuffed turkey at 325 degrees in the oven. What a huge time saver! If you ever need to cook a bigger turkey for a huge crowd you could buy a Kuhn Rikon duromatic 12 Quart family style pressure cooker if you want to make a bigger turkey or add potatoes and carrots. Oh I did a quick search and Presto makes a stove top 16 quart pressure cooker too and its about $80. BUT Rick, you are lucky because you have 4 other pressure cookers so you can make mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. Oh my! You rock! Again, thanks for taking the time to make this cool video!
Hi Rick, I have an 8 qt. Elite pressure cooker from HSN. I am planning a chuck roast with vegetables, carrots, parsnips, onions, and new potatoes. My question is on timing the cooking of the beef compared to the vegetables. I know my instruction book said 35 to 40 minutes for the beef. The vegetables, however, take different times, potatoes take about 6 minutes, onions about 3 minutes, and root vegetables like carrots and parsnips about 5 minutes. I originally thought in the last 10 minutes of the roast under pressure cooking, I thought I could do a quick release of the pressure, put in all the vegetables, reseal the pressure cooker, bring back up to pressure and cook for the remainder of 10 minutes. Now, due to the different times listed for the vegetables, I am not so certain this may be the preferred method. What do you suggest? Thank you. Sure enjoy your videos.
If I wanted to put it in the broiler after the pressure cooker to brown it a little...how long do i leave it?Obviously I don't want to dry it out and defeat the purpose of the pressure cooker leaving it juicy
Rick what do you think about using the cajun butter injectable marinade to flavor the water that cooks it vs injecting it outright? Think it will still flavor the whole bird???
a creme brulee torch is just a cigarette lighter fancied up. If you're going to blow torch then keep a regular blow torch that you would use to fix things. maybe you should have made some sort of contraption for getting it out easier. I'm going to do my turkey in 2017 this way and the gowise 14 quart will hold it beautifully.
How many years have you had your Instant pot for? I am worried that it will stop working after two years. Mainly because I purchased around 12 crock pots in the last 8 years! The heating element always dies. I wonder if I should use a power surge protector and maybe that would extend the life of my electric appliances. Have you ever used the traditional stove top pressure cookers? Do you own any? Thanks a million Rick!
+Blake Smith Hi, I've only had the Instant Pot for 6 months. So I can't say how long it might last. No I never tried a stovetop one. But I think I will. Thanks again!
Cool. Thanks for the info! I have been doing tons of research 12 hours a day for the last 5 days on stove top models and electric. And from what I gather there are 3 top brands that anyone would be happy to use. The Instant Pot 8 quart is on equal footing as the stove top Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cooker. And the WMF Perfect Plus 8 quart pressure cookers are supposed to be fabulous too. Both of these have amazing warranties. The Kuhn Rikon has a 10 year warranty. And the WMF has a 3 year warranty. Basically, they'll last a life time and they sell replacement gaskets. I read a lot of blogs. I am leaning towards an Instant Pot and a Kuhn Rikon Duromatic for when we have no electricity due to power outages caused by tornadoes and I need to cook on a butane single burner. Again, Rick thanks for all your advice and awesome videos!
So glad I found your channel. I'm new to Pressure Cooking and I am getting so many ideas from you. Did the meatloaf, potatoes and carrots in my pressure cooker tonight . I put brown gravy mix in the water so the potatoes and carrots cooked in it. Turned out great. Thanks for the videos please keep them coming.
I would broil that thing, that torch is way too much work. lol Just took our Instant Pot out of the box we've had for two years. I'm working on learning to use it. I'll be going through your videos.
Great Idea to use the pressure cooker, now I know I'll do one but will injected it with garlic butter all over no stuffing in the bird I'll put the cooked bird in a pan of real stuffing, cook the stuffing and brown the bird in the oven
Pressure cookers are good for precooking meat, chicken, turkey but it doesn't taste that good but its a great tenderizer, I cooked a turkey in the cooker but then I deep fried it, you don't have to deep fry it vey long because its already cooked and this is to give it a good browning after its pressure cooked I season it, sometimes I will dip it in a batter, then fry it. its delicious.
I probably would have just put it under the broiler on high after it was cooked. Then maybe hit the lighter areas up with the hand torch where needed. The broiler would not have dried it out because it would be too hot to get to the inside before crisping up the inside. With that being said, I am confident that turkey was juicy as can be.
+Tracy paglione I have 9 so far. Yeah maybe soon I'll cook a turkey in there. Here is a video of 2 big chickens in the 14 qt GoWise. th-cam.com/video/KtAUn1pdvww/w-d-xo.html
I saw that which is making me want the cooker more especially since its 120.00 on Amazon right now. What size turkey do you think would fit in the 14qt and could you do a frozen one?
+Tracy paglione I'm not sure how big of a turkey would fit. I think I'd measure the pot then the turkey at the store. No I wouldn't cook it frozen. The 14 Quart sold out quick last time, I'm glad it's back in stock now.
I've been using cooking bags in the pressure cooker. They make clean up so much easier. I use a rack with it so it doesn't touch the bottom and you put the water in the pot not the bag so your sauces dont get watered down. I get bags off Amazon instead of the reynolds ones in stores.
my ptessure cooker is cool just dont hear the music lid is an xl to :( should I bring it back I git it at a show case store other then that I love it made stew
I'm loving the pressure cooker idea! Wonder how it would be with carrots onion and celery on the bottom so your broth is seasoned for gravy making. I would have seasoned it on the counter top, so I could season all for sides of the turkey, and under its legs and wings, and inside, rather than just on the top as was the case in this demo, cuz it was already in there. I think browning in skin in the oven would be less time consuming, and browner. Cooked instead of charred. Having used butane torches for jewelry making, i bet the butane ran out before it browned? More time wasted. Love the idea tho! Awesome for cream brûlée!
I am very impressed with you making a whole turkey in the pressure cooker. I would be willing to bet that there is not another video on TH-cam showing someone doing that. How was the white meat? Most of the time it comes out dry when cooked in the oven if not cooked correctly. Great idea on using the flame to brown it. I think if you were going to serve this at Thanksgiving dinner then you may want to put it in the oven to get a more even brown. Was 2 cups of water to much or about right? Thanks!
The browning come from coating it in butter and allowing the butter to brown in the oven, I suppose you could have painted it in melted butter before applying the flame it would have been more golden brown.
+Rick Mammana If I had a spare electric pressure cooker that I didn't really care about, I'd try it just to try it. I don't see what the difference would be whether it were an old style cooker or an electric new one. However, I would do it outside in the yard for safety reasons. Hell Rick, you gotta few extra ones, why don't you try it? I don't think there's a single video on here using an electric pressure cooker to fry some chicken in. It'd be a first and I'd like to see it myself. You'd could dress up like Colonel Sanders and make some pressure fried chicken. OUTSIDE. I have no idea if it would even work.
I've missed you! I watch you, but I haven't been leaving comments. I lay in bed half asleep and dozing and wake up and the video is over and I have to start it over again! NEW GADGETS! Way to go Inspector Gadget👍 Your meal looked really good!!!
You've convinced me to invest in a pressure cooker. I cooked my Thanksgiving turkey (whole breast) in my slow cooker and browned it under the broiler. It turned out great and would have to say it was the best turkey I've ever cooked. However, it would be a lot more convenient to cook it in far less time.
would a been quicker under the broiler, and more even. But I definately would try using a pressure cooker to cook. been afraid of them always think they will blow. lol. good video
very nice. Won't work in my 4qt, but could I suggest a propane blow torch? A small, hand held?? Would that work? Now, I love legs and thighs, those I can do in my 4qt!! Thanks again Rick!
Quel bonne idée je savais pas que ça marcherai une dinde au complet merci pour l'idée je vais peut être l'essayer si j'achète une dinde un jour merci pour la recette encore
You're funny. The torch would be great for toasting mini marshmallows on top of mashed brown sugar and butter sweet potatoes. I only just heard of electric pressure cookers a few days ago and looking forward to trying one out.
I don't want to be a Debbie downer but I was taught to NEVER put hot stuffing in the raw cavity of a bird because of possible bacteria. I hope everything turns out ok.
Great video! I was curious on whether this could be done and I'm glad to see someone tried it! One recommendation, however, get you a Searzall to use for browning it!
I bet you could put that stuffing in there dry, right out of the box and it would have made stuffing on its own. You can brush it with Kitchen Bouquet to make it brown, a lot easier.
First thing I do is take the liner pan out and get rid of the pressure cooker off the counter! Also, I take all the skin off, so don’t care about browning.
Ok Rick I must have your autograph... I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm pretty sure your the first person I subscribed to after getting my pressure cooker. You always come up with great ideas and I appreciate the time and effort you put forth. Just a a fan learning how to get by with the pressure cooker...smoker and all the different gadgets you show...btw thanks for the discount on the boxiki silicone bakeware 👍
Mix yogurt and some tomato paste or suave and brush it then broil it it will be easier and very nice color turkey Thanks for sharing I think would work with stuffed chicken too yum
After watching this video you have convince me to stick to the old method. Real stuffing and bake in the oven ...
LOL!!
ka1133 Rick has the right idea. It can be very difficult to have a turkey come out truly moist from the oven. I can't tell you how many times throughout the years I have ate baked turkey dinners that were dry and bland. I would be willing to bet that Rick's turkey is delicious and very moist.
ka1133 no matter how the bird is cooked as long is cook and flavored with spices...
ka1133 just stuff it before it goes in the cooker and brown it when it comes out.
Its fine if you don't normally eat the skin anyway or just put it in the oven to brown up. I wouldn't have stuffed it though.
As someone who loves turkey but I'm disabled so I find it too hard to cook turkey in the over and have to babysit it but this way is so good and juicy. I can finally have turkey again. I love my instant pot sooo much ,it's just set it and go. Thanks for this recipe
The pressure cookers make it so easy and fun to cook. Thank you very much for watching! :)
I hit my bong!!! and this looks better ever time!!!
I myself would have put in the oven and broiled it , but that's me !
Thats what i said i applaude it tho
He did say you can do that but he wanted to try his new torch.
2020 Thanksgiving was my first pressure cooked turkey and it was excellent. Very easy 14# 90 minutes and the breast wasn't dry the next day for sandwiches. Will not go back to oven. Very succulent!
Did you broil it too?
@@hbn9net no our family doesn't eat the skin. it pretty much fell apart. I'll give up presentation to have juicy meat.
+Kimberly Campos Hey thanks! I'm glad if I could help a little. Pressure cookers are great if you like to cook and eat :) Thanks again!
I would probably eat this, but isn't it basically a boiled turkey with cigarette burns?
I like cigarette burns myself
Bahahaaaa!!! 🤣🤣🤣
LOL!!!
You should try a pressure cooker. It is not the same as boiling. Also really cigarette burns? WTF lol...no.
😂😂
that's a good idea I would put in the presure cooker for an hour and then put it in oven so I don't have wait for 3 or 4 hour to be done
Myrna Vazquez
That's a *great* idea!😊

Thanks! The big stovetop one sounds good. I'm glad you liked the video!
Blake Smith presto makes a 23qt pressure cooker/canner. can cook a 21lb turkey and maybe still have room for another 16
You are the Evel Knievel of Pressure Cookers! "Taking it to the limit and beyond"
Yeah Evil Kenevil!!!!
Lmfao
Ty. Will be doing this in my 14qt this weekend.
It's gonna be delicious! I think I'll make another one soon.

+rgoidel Yes I would do it exactly as you described. :)
First time I made a Turkey I left the Giblet bag in the ass...lol
😂
If I wanted to put it in the broiler after the pressure cooker to brown it a little...how long do i leave it?Obviously I don't want to dry it out and defeat the purpose of the pressure cooker leaving it juicy
+strife01104 Just a few minutes till you see it get brown.
One of my favorite TH-cam things is when you put it in fast forward for however long you do, and your voice is higher. So funny.
Not funny. He's a self-obsessed egomaniac...
and a very entertaining one at that!
You his ex-wife or something?
tapdancerman Who Me? :) Could be worse! Thanks!
Thanks for the torch idea - will try it for Christmas! Does the water quantity 1 or 2 cups affect the tenderness?
+Kat Pryde Nice, Yeah try it! Well I believe 2 cups is what you'll need at least to create the pressure needed. It will be real tender. :) Thanks!
Rick what do you think about using the cajun butter injectable marinade to flavor the water that cooks it vs injecting it outright? Think it will still flavor the whole bird???
+strife01104 That's an idea. Yeah whatever flavor is in there will be infused into the meat.
a creme brulee torch is just a cigarette lighter fancied up. Hi rick. What size turkey would a 14 qt pressure cooker make...
I'd have to see how big it was. I'm sure it could fit one bigger than this 10 quart but I forget how big that one was.

10 minutes in a hot gas or charcoal grill with some wood chips and the skin will get crispy and taste fantastic.
+MrBeach Yes that would have been perfect! Thanks!
Okay, now I want a pressure cooker.
+MzGumby02 Yeah you do. :)
MzGumby02 Just got my 8qt and can't wait to use it!!

nice salt and pepper shakers. where you find them
Hi, Thanks. I got them here. amzn.to/1VqSEUc
How many pressure cookers do you have? Can you do this with your 14 qt go wise please.
+Tracy paglione I have 9 so far. Yeah maybe soon I'll cook a turkey in there. Here is a video of 2 big chickens in the 14 qt GoWise. th-cam.com/video/KtAUn1pdvww/w-d-xo.html

my ptessure cooker is cool just dont hear the music lid is an xl to :( should I bring it back I git it at a show case store other then that I love it made stew
+Patti Haley Hi, I don't believe that brand has a sound when you open it. Only Aicok and Instant pot do that so far.
That does look good. I have an ovel shaped crock pot. I cook six pound turkeys in all the time. Set it on low. Come back 6 or 7 later. Easy as can be.
+Thomas Tommy Sounds great!
Oh..and turkeys.... do fly...😆
W K R P!
Since i do not have oven, I will put it in the pan to toast it???
Rick you are so entertaining while you cook. I sit here and watch you instead of watching t.v. Keep up the great videos. Love em
+Jan Hamilton Excellent! I'm so glad you like watching! 👍😊👍
in the elite pressure cooker can u put quart jars to stand them
+Carol Johnson I believe they would fit in the 10 quart.
I'm loving the pressure cooker idea! Wonder how it would be with carrots onion and celery on the bottom so your broth is seasoned for gravy making. does the torch affect the food in a negative way at all
+Mike D Not at all. I should have used a bigger torch. :)
The kind the plumber use lol.
I have a 14 Qt. Love it

Thanks for the info.
+ do you use a cookbook for to know how long to cook at 4
+June Mils Hi, Sometimes I refer to books or search online. But we mostly learn from experience and doing it more than once. Thanks for watching! :)
We have a propane oilless fryer for doing turkey. Best turkey ever from that thing!
+Bad Drivers of Fort Worth, Texas Sounds good!
Brother, that looks very good
The browning come from coating it in butter and allowing the butter to brown in the oven, I suppose you could have painted it in melted butter before applying the flame it would have been more golden brown.
+Joe Hinson Yeah I could have done a few things differently. Thanks
Another great video. You always come up with the best PC recipes of anyone on YT. I am kicking myself now that I got the 6 qt IP and not the 8 qt.
+Jilly InCali Ohhh. Well you can always have more than one pressure cooker. This was the 10 quart. :) Thank you very much! :)
I HAD TO HAVE AN 8 QT...ALSO, SO JUST WENT OUT TO C.T.C,[canadian tire] and bought one...$129.99...GREAT...!!!!
Wow 1 hour, even if you do put under the grill (broiler) thats one quick turkey meal!
Tfs & take care 🌹
+Aussieflix Yeah! Thanks for watching! :)
Doesn't the stuffing get soggy and mushy from the steam?
No it was ok. I liked it!
Gracias!!! Thank you ....
I was just wondering can you pressure fryed chicken?
+Ibebebe babe Only with a special pressure fryer. Not these kind. I looked into it! :)
Rick Mammana ok thanks for the info. just got me one of these boogers and excited to give it a try. I will leave my frying in a skillet. lol
There is a video of a guy pressure frying some chicken in a non electric pressure cooker and it came out really good. Would you like the link to it?
I saw that. There are pressure cookers that you can fry in. But they are different from these that we use.
+Rick Mammana If I had a spare electric pressure cooker that I didn't really care about, I'd try it just to try it. I don't see what the difference would be whether it were an old style cooker or an electric new one. However, I would do it outside in the yard for safety reasons. +Victoria Price 👍😊👍
Might try Turkey in my pressure cooker. Thank you for sharing.
+hot purple 😁 Thank you for watching!
I loved your video in wanting to cook ours the same way for Thanksgiving
Happy thanksgiving Rick lol. That looks so good
Thanks! Same to you!
very nice. Won't work in my 4qt, but could I suggest a propane blow torch? A small, hand held?? Would that work?
Now, I love legs and thighs, those I can do in my 4qt!! Thanks again Rick!
Yeah I should have used a bigger torch, but I just got that one and had to try it. :)
+Desktop Kitty Yeah try it out! Thanks for watching! I'm glad I made you laugh. 😁
I can't wait to try mines..ty for the video
+Monielove B just videos Yeah! Thanks for watching! 👍👍
Rick, Go Wise makes a 12 Quart Electric Pressure Cooker too.
+m Day Yeah that's new! The 14 Quart will be back soon too. :)
That's so cool Rick, the Turkey looks so tender and juicy. I bet it was delicious.
Where can I find the gloves?
I wonder how Cornish hens would be in the pressure cooker?
+David Lukas I made them once. th-cam.com/video/MniRpHDDkbo/w-d-xo.html
Put Paprika on the Turkey. When it comes out, It looks Brown. When you put Gravy on it, it becomes Soggy anyway.
I would also put it in the oven to brown it.
Stove-top stuffing gives me terrible heartburn.
I don't want to be a Debbie downer but I was taught to NEVER put hot stuffing in the raw cavity of a bird because of possible bacteria. I hope everything turns out ok.
+Debbie Z I lived. I think. That was a few years ago.
I always do, they are cooked together, my in laws always love it. Turkey is completely eaten
I thought he was gonna do a dab lol
Great video! I was curious on whether this could be done and I'm glad to see someone tried it! One recommendation, however, get you a Searzall to use for browning it!
Sounds Good, Thanks!!!
You sure do have a lot of gadget. The salt and pepper shakers were my favourite.
+Maimoonah Nice! Glad you liked watching! :)
How do we avoid food tasting watery in pressure cookers is my mission
I bet you could put that stuffing in there dry, right out of the box and it would have made stuffing on its own. You can brush it with Kitchen Bouquet to make it brown, a lot easier.
+Candide Thirtythree Yeah probably! Thanks for watching! :)
You are a mans man Rick ,looks like a really good meal.
What do you do for your normal go to work job I'm curious ?
+Bob Martin Ohhhhhh I am a mechanic in a hot dirty factory. Thank you very much!
Turkeys can fly lol
what weight/size is turkey?

Wild turkeys fly. They roost at night.
First thing I do is take the liner pan out and get rid of the pressure cooker off the counter! Also, I take all the skin off, so don’t care about browning.
looks good. a project for the 14 qt go wise next time

how do you know 60 min for turkey?
Because I did it before.
I believe broiling might be easier after pressure cooker....You da Man Rick, Cook on my Brother....Love your video's......
Yeah easier than the little torch. I had to try it though. Thank you very much! :)
was this frozen?
+Zay Dean No it wasn't
thanks. do u think a whole turkey or roasting chicken could be done in this (if frozen)?
This is AWESOME!!! THANK you!!!!
Thank You!! :)
Should have put some butter on it for better browning ,even olive oil.
it would have made more sense to just brown in the preheated oven for 15 minutes on 400 or broiler for five than that torch. Excellent video l!
