To say that last year's Predator Edge was a disappointment would be an understatement! While the design had huge potential, when it came to fit and comfort, they were simply some of the worst football boots from Adidas in years! Possibly ever! For 2023 however, the Predator is back and better than we've see it in quite some time!
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Adidas Predator Accuracy.1, the $250 option within their top-end offerings, that feels more like a "power" boot than we've seen for a very long time! We discuss what they've changed, what's new and what's been brought back from past Predator models, ultimately concluding why I think this is their best Pred since they came back in 2018! In all honesty I find these new Accuracy.1s a lot more appealing than the respective Mutator and Freak models. Never mind the Edge generation. It’s one of the times that less is more. Focusing the rubber to the instep instead of it being scattered over other parts of the upper. It simply allows the upper to flex more naturally and be devoid of excess rigidity. This new Pred I feel is more functional and easier to live with than it’s predecessors. Mutator and Freak were more leaning to the “wow” factor. And I am hoping the Edge was a social experiment or something. I was never much of a Predator guy. I am a Mercurial user and Nike loyalist for much of the past decade, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate and admire Adidas’s and other brands’ efforts. I liked the Ultra 1.3 and X 18.1 as much as my favorite Mercurials. These are definitely boots I wouldn’t mind paying full retail for.
As far as the inevitable comparison to the Phantom GX. They have a very similar goal. Giving you that extra bit of grip on the ball when striking or making any contact. But they do it in a very different way and style. But there is no wrong choice.
I’m pumped. I was looking to spend $75 max on new boots, but a small sports shop was looking to offload their last couple pairs. They were selling the accuracy .1’s for JUST $100. Outside of the original budget, but what a deal! Had to jump on it.

This is honestly a major step forward from disaster class of the predator edge and returning to hybrid touch while some look at it being a step backward but I think it’s a necessary step to take
the edge wasn't a disaster class, stop thoughtlessly following the opinions and think for yourself for once, I got the boots and they were actually good, not the best, but not nearly bad enough to justify the remarks you have about it, stop mindlessly following what others say and actually think for yourself, the boots were actually really good, I really enjoyed the grip on them

Josh, do you know if any other colorways of the New Balance 442 V2 Pro have the full leather upper or is it just the gold? Or in your opinion does the midfoot not having the leather not make much of a big difference?

Love the channel my man! Question, I just bought the Accuracy .1 AG and from what I can see, understand, and have read on reviews, the studs are super aggressive for AG fields. Do you see any issue with using the AGs on firm ground? I play in two leagues; one is all AG fields and the other is all-natural grass. Essentially, I don't want to return them if I don't have to, however, I don't want to risk any potential injury. Please let me know your thoughts!
The AG studs are shorter than the FG studs, and there seem to be a little more studs on the plate. I think the length of the AG is shorter by half an inch or so. It won't be the same using them on FG but you can still get away with it. If you want one pair, then I'd get the AG boots because it's safer to use those on FG than the other way around.

Hey Josh, can we get a video on the new speedportals, they seem like they changed in a big way; no carbon, reduced volume and seems to have an altered heel area (atleast in the .1 from the pictures), but no big youtuber or website has mentioned these giant changes at all.
I didn’t know about this, is there a way to confirm these new updates?
@@andrewgood287 I mean we need someone like Josh or jaymike to verify this via video. But the carbon removal seems to be almost 100% confirmed from some small youtubers. But the other changes are things I noticed from images, maybe in reality they're the same minus the carbon

@@andrewgood287 yeah these r things I noticed on initial pics, then I saw people unboxing videos and eventually asked jaymike from unisport, and replied back saying that yes it has no carbon and is more flexible :/ but no one has made a video on them which is really strange

been using these boots this year really like them the only thing i don't like is the little pink rubber bits if it didn't have those on it would easily be a 10/10 boot IMO
Does the boot make a difference in shooting (curve) and control?
@@fazailkhan3121for me personally, they incredibly increase my weak foot’s shooting power as my friends recognized that. So I tested by wearing another pair of shoes using the same power, then found out Accuracy really worked for me! But they also decrease my acceleration and speed as well.😂

In my opinion I still prefer the look of the predator freaks, I just can’t get used to the new look of the accuracy. I don’t know maybe it’ll grow on me

hey its a 11 months late but you should probably get size 12 as when i tried on half a size too small it was too tight on the width of my foot.

What’s the difference between the accuracy.1 and the speedportal.1 ??? Any help is appreciated
HUGE difference. Speedportals feature a stiffer (slightly plasticiky) upper with a thin liner, giving a barefoot feel to the ball, with an aggressive bladed/chevron soleplate with lots of snapback (great for that first step when sprinting or changing direction). The Predator features a softer foam lined upper with the rubber elements on the strike zone and inside of the foot for extra grip, and the soleplate has triangular bladed studs with a solid, but not snappy sensation underfeet. The shape is also different. Speedportals are narrower, but can accomodate a somewhat wider foot, but the Predators are WIDE, probably the widest base shape I've seen on a boot for a long time. One is a "speed boot" and the other is a "power boot", it's like comparing older Mercurials to a T90 Lazer or a CTR 360. I'd argue, and I'm sure Josh would too, that the Predator is a more comfortable boot out of the box, very little break-in time. However, they are VERY different on the ball and and underfoot. It's totally up to your preference as to what you want. The way I view it: Speedportals are for those who like to stay on their toes (ready to move or change direction at any time), while the Predators are a far more relaxed experience, great for pinging long balls and free kicks.
Oh, and before I forget, if you get the Predator Accuracy, get the mid-cut .1 model, NOT the low cut. The low cut has a different construction which feels shallow, and it can feel like your heel is moving side-to-side when changing direction. The mid-cut model has FAR better heel lockdown.
I wonder if the shape of this accuracy .1 is similar to the freak .1? Not so much in the midfoot as it is wide in this new model but rather in the toebox which was so roomy in the freak

Glad they are good, but not hard to beat the edge. If they were leather, i would buy it. Sadly the blackout was not leather, would have instantly bought that in particular 😕

I'd say the Nike Phantom Gx would be the best boot so far this year. This could be second. I don't know why they don't just make it red. The pink just looks sad to me.
I would get the predator over the phantom gx just for the looks.. I really hate the colourways and those weird shapes on the gx. I wish they went with something a bit more "discreet".
But yeah, red over pink would have been much nicer 😅

I like these quite a bit more. Precision.1 is cool, but ultimately very bulky for no real benefit
If someone asked me "what would a predator look like 20 years from now" back in 2005, I would picture something like this.
It's definitely what a modern predator should be. Just wish it had a heel counter
I find them a bit too clunky, maybe i need some more time to break these in also.
As someone who loved the mutator and freak models, these are not quite that good. If you have a narrow foot do not buy! These are quite wide so I am confidant they would be fantastic for a wide-footed person, just not for narrow footed people.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but despite the actually build flaws of the edge, for me they were by far the nicest looking preds ever. I didn't like the material all that much and the .1s were crazy stiff, but they looked cleeean and I actually loved the rubber fins despite losing some feel for the ball.
These accuracys are ugly though, hate that 3 stripe design on the side. Not a fan. Copa pure over these
Just bought these on sale for $59.99 at a warehouse sale! They feel comfortable on feet so far. Granted I haven’t been on grass or played but they feel good out of box
