"Keep in mind, these are duel sword. Two halves of a single weapon. Don't think of them as separate, cause they're not. They're just two different parts of the same whole. -Zuko, Season 2. episode 7; Zuko Alone
I appreciate your videos I’ve been watching for a long time and I got my own forge up and going recently, you were the reason I thought back all that time ago that I could start doing this at home too and making these incredible ideas real so thank you for the inspiration and for the knowledge, I’m still learning and appreciate that you break things down and explain what you’re doing
This one by far has the best camera work! Man the time to prep the camera angles to get the footage you wanted must’ve taken forever and a ton of trial and error! Regardless, amazing work!
Suggestion: Find those plastic little cocktail picks that look like tiny swords-- different brands for different shapes, maybe make a few of your own. Make molds of them. Now you can make metal ones _en masse..._ Like... about a thousand? Pile into a throne shape. *BLOWTORCH BARRAGE INTO IRON THRONE*
dude just straightild the weapon. No extra fancy music, no commentary, no nothing. Just him building the swords.ese are duel sword. Two halves of a single weapon. Hmm won’t bronze being in contact with steel very quickly cause galvanic corrosion? How’d you remedy this? Always worried because you do use quite a bit of brass, copper, and bronze as hilts and stuff and they’re usually directly contacting the steel bare metal; which will start galvanic corrosion quickly.
Just thought of this... What if the blacksmith that designed Zuko's swords was not one of the royal smiths, but rather a peasant who only had half of the materials to make the casting mold. So they just mirrored what they had?
The theory doesn't really add up when you consider how many Earth Kingdom guards seem to carry the same sword that zuko does, plus those swords exist in real life
There not many Chinese dao forge video out there and i like this sword better than katana. Thanks for this video Can you please make a single dao with a normal handel ?
While very pretty, I can't imagine being able to grip those swords properly. The shock of any impact going into your palms at the corners must kiillllll
sorry to be "that guy" but no, Zuko's swords are twin sabers, not butterfly knives. If memory serves me Zuko's sword type was popular in the early to mid Qing dynasty
Zuko uses Niuweidao or as we more commonly know them Chinese Dao or Chinese sabers. Butterfly swords are much shorter and more closely resemble LARGE bowie knives and more often than not have a straight and flat spine the blade is relatively straight the whole length until the final third or fourth where it curves up swiftly towards the spine forming a relatively large belly and can be seen in such movies as American Ninja 2. Butterfly swords are commonly used in WingChun and have been featured in such movies as WingChun (1994) starring Donny Yen and Michelle Yeoh where they feature prominently on the coverart and used by the main character
honestly, your work is gorgeous, but you're making your work more difficult on yourself. I know that you have your own system, but you should grind the shape and roughness from your works before heat treatment, that way you're not spending so long grinding
I love how my dude just straights up build the weapon. No extra fancy music, no commentary, no nothing. Just him building the swords.
