I met Terje before he died. At a live show, I was and still am a big fan of Windir. I had just bought their 3rd album 1184, which I still have today. The CD is signed by Baaken and the rest of the band. He was one of the most inspirational living beings I had ever met. Because of him, I decided to start playing folk metal music. He also made me want to connect with my Dakota Sioux roots. We remained in touch through e-mail and I still remain in touch with his brother and the rest of the band.
It doesn't matter what subgenre you want to give it, they are badass, period. Its one of those few bands you can immediately recognize when you listen to them. Definitely one of my fav bands of all time. Valfar's legacy will last forever. This concert is a perfect homage to a great man. Thank you Valfar for making such perfect and enjoyable music.

I even to a spiritual name, Sequoia, because it represented my very wise personality and the fact that I always do the right thing. I am the vocalist and instrumentalist for 2 self-founded bands. When Terje died I drove myself to the Psych Ward to talk to a therapist about it. I was very emotionally distraught, but then again, who wouldn't be distraught over the death of a musical genius?

Music is not a business, music is done because it soothes the soul in such a way that the normal pleasures of life cannot.
