      Marseilles Vieux yup blow the engine and if you buy a Crate Motor and re and re you actually make it better and as long as you don’t do a bolt by bolt tear down it’s gonna be worth more then you put into it. (Too many guys do a complete tear down and you never get that back but can buy them for as little as $.10 on the dollar for what went into them.)

      Haha, yeah, I totally forgot to clean that ash tray...... related to that switch, I only put that there as I would have never trusted myself... So a little insurance cant hurt. Best I can tell Matt never tried to joy ride..... Some people connect the neutral safety to the cigarette lighter. I chose a switch close to the parking brake so no one would notice when I release the parking brake.

    FYI I still enjoy watching this video once in a while.... Selling a car to you after 26 years of owning it is painfull, but being able to re-watch this awesomely positive video about it is a huge plus. Going to start a 63 Falcon restoration next. hoping it will bring as much joy as that car did... I saw that you blew the rear out in a past video.. I did that myself but at that time it had a single rib early 60's center carrier. replaced with a better waffled carrier...guessing it wasn't strong enough.... Guess that motor has more power than I thought.....

    IMO resto-mods are the truest form of the spirit of American automotive heritage. The reason stock-numbers-matching originals cost so much is their rarity. So many of these cars went from the showroom to a shade-tree mechanic where they started modding and adding personal touches to them. From the slick racers of the '50's who were modding there dad's old '46 to the "stock" car racers of the '70's. Everything back in the day was modded. Kudos Hoovie, have fun and naysayers be damned.

    • @andytaylor1588
      @andytaylor1588 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      390 was a great engine. With the right heads, you can put a ton of boost into it as well. Good for perhaps 1500 hp.

      @whydoihave6neutrals772 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andy Taylor why would you do that for a 67 mustang though. And you’d need more than boost and a few thousand in parts for “1500 horsepower”😂

    I'm completely behind you on this one Hoovie. That guy did a really nice job with this even if it is a faux or tribute car. There is nothing wrong with resto-modding from a lesser model, a bastard, or non-number matching car in my opinion. If it were an original or Concours grade full blown restoration I may say differently. But this thing is pretty damn cool and I'm happy for you. I share in your excitement and enthusiasm. The Kenne Bell superchargers are a real blast and a great way to wake up some of these older/lesser Ford mills. Enjoy the hell out of it, have fun with it, and put all the miles on it you want. This thing can be turned and reborn in another 10 years as long as it's in good shape and mileage won't matter. Congrats on the new ride.

      You're not in the minority Joe. SEMA has almost always been chock full of restomods, drag cars, etc. Some of the biggest names in car modifications, Holley, Edelbrock, etc. Got their start with kits for V8 engines, and still provide a lot of support for them. Muscle cars and Super cars are different animals entirely, super cars just appeal to a wider audience, but a lot of that audience probably aren't even actual enthusiasts. I think the rapidly increasing prices for a lot of muscle cars is a testament to the demand for them.
