I didn't even know the concept of "data masking"... Great video!

Where did you add that Ismasked and masked revenue measure ? What is that Utils ? Is it a table or something else . Could you please explain it a bit please?

Is there any way to do the same but this time to mask the names instead of the values?

Thanks for the video. In term of performance which method is better?

performance should be the same either way, the difference is mostly functional as these are two completely different approaches to hiding certain data depending on user access

Is it possible to mask visuals like Pie Charts, Donut charts using this measure?
If not then what are supposed to follow for that?

Hi KnowledgeBank. Thanks for this quite rare video combining quite a unique approach. Just wondering if you can explain the data model side a bit. Is a relationship required between your distribution channel table and the other tables? And if so, what type? I guess if you wanted one user to have access to many channels the setup would need to be different. Any clarification you can provide would be great.

in my case, distribution channel is connected to the fact table, so all the work was already done to assign each row in the fact table to a corresponding distribution channel... In your case you might have individual ShipTos have a single distribution channel as a parent, in which case you can just add that column to the customer dimension

Great video, I would like to see the data model for this. Is that possible?

it is not possible yet, sorry, but I am working on a tutorial with a similar dataset that I will be able to share. Stay tuned!

Can't share that specific file, but I will put together a separate tutorial on how to do masking vs. RLS hopefully soon

That's a ton of coding. Isn't this the same as an MDX role attribute called "Show Visual Totals"?

nope... Masking is definitely not the same thing...
