brings me back in time that. and the old NRG kits stuff. 5watt exciter into 50watt amp. taking it to the limit to get most power. And now look at the tech in them now
Lol yeah it used to be a thing to amplify low power transmitters. That 5Watt transmitter actually was the main transmitter for an actuall FM radio station. It ran at 1 Watt ERP and had about 14 000 listeners. The good old days lol.
Worth saying that the power wires to the AIO have obviously been modified. They should not run tight and diagonally like that. In fact it looks as if the PA is actually disconnected. I'm former BW tech support manager.
Lol well spotted! The Amplifier in this transmitter is no longer working. I just used it to show the inner workings of the transmitter. Most people would not notice the PA unplugged lol. This transmitter is running the 1 watt straight out of the main board. Had to mod a little bit to get it to run without the Amp.
Hey thanks for your comment.Yeah BW makes some awesome gear. I don't think they make the 5Watt transmitter anymore which is a pity because it is amazing. What I can say about any BW gear is that the sound quality is spectacular. I make no money for saying it but I would recommend BW over many other brands. I have used their transmitters and loved them completely. I haven't looked at their new transmitters for a while but that sounds very cool to create relay links in the transmitters. It could make for quite a big saving on stl equipment to be able to link one transmitter to another. Very cool. Not surprised at how innovative BW are. They really are an awesome company. Cheers.
I have been ysing the BW tx 150 fir a few years and today station went off the air. Only one of the fans work and no lights, no display. Checked viltage coming out of the power supply and there is a 24 volt buss and a 40 volt buss, dont see any other smaller voltages that the I.C.'s would typically.use. anyone have repair experience?
Hi. I used to repair transmitters many many years ago but I wouldn't be much help these days. The only thing I can say is that without a schematic diagram you stand little chance. You may as well try repair it blindfolded. Try see if someone has one. Without it you are lost I'm afraid.
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I don't sell transmitters so I can't help you with that. The best is to go to BW website. They have a wide range of new transmitters you can buy.
Oh no, that's very sad to hear. I have not bought a transmitter from them for a few years now but I see that their website is still up so that's very strange if you say that they are closed. www.bwbroadcast.com/
