The USA defined the policy between Russia and Ukraine and now Ukraine's problem is Europe's problem? Ukraine was the third country with the most nuclear weapons and handed them over to Russia at the hands of American policy.

Polarisation implies that there are two extremes, but the reality is that you have 'sane' vs 'delusional'. There's little you really need to say to Democrats - they are informed, the things they believe are largely true, they understand the importance of democracy. MAGA, on the other hand... are absolutely insane. There is no 'equal but opposite' here. It's not 'polarization' that's the problem, but the bad-faith actions of one side in particular.

A general comment regarding the situation we find ourselves in:
It's not US policy to help Ukraine win. It's US policy to help Ukraine survive until the political mood in the country changes. This is frustrating enough, but as the internal political crisis deepens, the country's commitment to defending its allies and international law in general is growing weaker as well.
I'm Finnish. It's in our national interest that Ukraine wins. That international law prevails.
We're used to navigating these kinds of threats alone. What really gets me is that the USA is starting to block European initiatives.
Why? The USA wants Europe to do more, right?
Well, yes, unless that means going against a nuclear power like Russia. Then, all you can do is duck and take cover. This is very short-sighted but not unexpected from the point of a view of a nation that's been in the situation that Ukraine is in now.

I must give admiration to Pyotr for his statements about President Biden after the assassination attempt. I see Biden as a lifelong statesman which gives him a good grasp of gravitas. This ability is invaluable, and completely beyond Trumps vulgarity.

      @njswampfox474 หลายเดือนก่อน

Calling Biden a statesman is absurd. He's always been the dumbest man in the room. Re Ukraine, he's slow rolled needed defenses and weapon systems to Ukraine because his fear of Putin's huffing and puffing. Unfortunately, Trump's statements on Ukraine call into question his judgment and moral clarity, and may have even been worse. The US is in a bad place.

I was watching live. I do not think this was staged. However, what I saw when trump got up and told the Secret Service to ‘wait, wait, wait’ and the fisted and yelled ‘fight fight, fight’ while the SS stood there! There was zero concern for their wellbeing, or trump’s or the crowd. They didn’t know there was a shooter so they had to assume there might be another. There was ZERO hurry and it just looked like a Reality TV episode set up for ratings. At the RNC, the crowd is now fisting, yelling ‘fight, fight, fight’! This is not defiance. Defiance would be getting the hell out of the situation, trying to protect others and then talking about it afterwards. It’s marketing! Please help others understand this.

I have a question for Dr. Lucas. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, a great deal has changed in terms of global economics, not just global security. Prior to the war, the EU offered Russia a very sweet economic deal, NATO was dwindling in terms of actual armed forces and was really more of an economic union. Now Russia has effectively been kicked out of economic dealings with the EU, and the US has benefited hugely, most especially in terms of oil and LNG sales. Could Trump really convince the US to shutter a huge portion of its industry and give it all back to Russia along with a chunk of Ukraine? It seems unlikely.

NATO has allowed the US to pay for everything for far too long and now with American isolationism rearing its head, is terrified...typical and not very far-sighted. Europe frequently has difficulty looking beyond its nose. France and Germany dealing with the Chinese and Russian hydrocarbon dependence in the case of the latter is an example. The same happened before with Iraq, as all the Europeans had backroom deals with Saddam, ignoring all of these threats and depredations.
The USA has not really had a real long-term foreign policy since George Bush Senior. Trump began a long-term policy shift against China, which Biden has carried on. Economically, the US is refocusing on the Americas, bringing industry back and with them supply chains much closer to home.
Biden, is non compos mentis. Whoever is running the Executive, it is not Biden but non-elected persons. Biden has no expertise or depth in foreign policy or anywhere else.

On the other hand, this distracts from the endless sensationalist news coverage of Biden's age. Also, it's a short-term reaction. The election isn't until November.

@@SiliconCurtain With all due respect, your statement is moronic. Biden compared Trump to Hitler. I subscribe to your channel because you are usually insightful and measured in your analysis. This is far, far, below your usual level of discourse. In all the criticisms of former President Trump, I heard broad brush negativity. Not once, unless I am wrong, did I hear the phrase, "For example..." Unless I am wrong, it is President Biden's fear-based, feckless, foreign policy that has strung this conflict out, resulting in needless Ukrainian casualties and destruction. Biden's "gifts" of out-of-date weapons from the DOD war surplus store, priced as though they were new, together with his failure to state a goal of Ukrainian victory, or at least one of Russian defeat, have been insufficient for Ukraine's needs and tragic for Ukraine.
Trump's presidency was marked by widespread peace and progress toward the resolution of long-standing conflicts. Ukraine deserves friends of better quality than is has in Joe Biden.

Nobody has the time to list the endless reasons Trump is unfit for office. Who are you, Rip van Winkle? Where have you sleeping? As for why so many americans support trump, it is an endless frustration first described by Mark Twain - how easily the public is fooled.

The drama of the impacts of your illegal military invasion and land theft of Ukraine.
Your genocide and your refusal to accept any responsibility for it.
