Shawn Golmes dang chill out he has great potential and Julio and Calvin Ridley are gonna get him straight in practice he just had 1 bad game over a 3 year career against a godly offense
Bryce Hall should be next, likely tomorrw, as he only played about half the season. Who should I cover after? Cam Dantzler, Damon Arnette, or Noah Igbinoghene? Other suggestions? Comment below!
Most DBs will look questionable when you only show targets because the bad outweighs the good. This doesn’t really show what he’s best at and that’s staying in faze with his WRs. Need to watch all his snaps to get a true tell.
Romain Appreciate what you do, man. I just felt most of the comments needed to understand that there’s plays where he phases people out and the ball isn’t thrown his way.
@@thefmsrinder6324 You are absolutely correct. Two critical aspects my videos don't show are 1) Coverage Snaps where the cornerback removes his receiver as a viable pass option and the quarterback is forced to continue his progression, and 2) Coverage Snaps where the cornerback is beaten but the quarterback is unable or unwilling to throw the ball his way, hence the purpose of scouting tapes superior to mine displayed in what is colloquially referred to as "All 22" clips, which is where real scouts should go to complete their analysis.
He's relying on his safety help on deep routes. I can see it. Good hand skills. Good man to man for the most part. Good pressure on receivers. Also looks like he tries to bait QBs at times by giving a little too much room. He's lengthy though, so he could make up the recovery. Doesn't have much recovery speed though. He nicely adjusts to throws and knows how to use the sidelines.
He wasn’t picked to guard the other teams nest wideout. He a gonna guard primarily the 2, and 3 wideout out. I think he will hold his own, against most in the nfl
Great content. Folks are prisoner of the moment. Guy is a stud. He just had the worst game of his life in the SHip. Other than that he is what you want in a cover 3 corner for Raheem Morris. He will come up and hit also. And shut down sides of the entire field. This film wont show that he was rarely targeted.
Well you saw he only got targeted once for an incompletion in the second half of the Lsu game. He completely shut shit down after halftime. Dude plays 1 on 1 against teams #1 receiver with no safety help a lot. He is going to be good
He had a couple plays but man. Doesn’t have good long speed. Gives up too much separation (especially against smaller WRs). Don’t like his hips. He has good size and can be physical with bigger WRs (which is ideally who you’d want to match him with as those Quicker WRs like a Jarvis Landry, Odell, Tyler Lockett, Will Fuller etc will eat his lunch. Best fit: Carolina Panthers (Spend most of his season matching with guys like Julio, Evans, Godwin, and Michael Thomas. Tough matchups but with speedster Donte Jackson on the other side to match with the quicker guys. Allows better matchups.)
I think he’s decent.. he definitely shows times lack of effort and discipline with coverage, his eyes get caught in the backfield alot looking at the qb.. he can also get too over aggressive with the WRs and with deep balls he’s the target.. overall he has good upsize and can make some plays but I didn’t think he was worth the first round pick just my opinion probably would have took bama safety or Grant Delpit
That is just because it showed the targets. Most of the time he locked the receivers down and the QB avoided throwing it his way. How gather all the footage Romain? Did you just watch each game and get each one?
@@FuneralGraveMemorial That's right, I did just watch every single game, snap by snap. But you're right, videos like mine only serve to accomplish about one third of what an evaluator should consider when evaluating a DB's coverage ability. Two importing components omitted from my videos are a) Coverage Snaps where a corner is in phase with his man and forces the quarterback to continue his progression, and b) Coverage Snaps where the defender I beaten, but the quarterback is unable or unwilling to get him the football. If people view videos like mine as a focus point to start and stop their analysis, then I feel that I'm doing them a huge disservice.
Romain - Good work on this though! Now I am curious though, how long did it take you to make this and where did you find the full games in a format that could be recorded?
Jerry MicGuire Ja’Maar should have been flagged for a push off on that first touchdown imo you can see he was right there with him and then all of a sudden you see him shoved off and the separation between them. You can see dabo swinney on the sideline freaking out looking for the flag
@@lukehutchings9752 There was a push, but I didn't think it was egregious. The great WR's are good at those subtle push-offs that don't get called for OPI and that was a good example of it by Chase imo
He was one on one with no safety help a majority of that game against the heisman winner and the belitnekoff winner.. He had good positioning but great offense beats good defense sometimes. He has solid technique.
Good pick y’all need to chill you can coach technique but not size and speed it’s all about that ,potential and personality to DQ and he was available I like how they ask TD&DQ which other CB they had in mind and the said just AJ that brotherhood plus look at his teammates on the other side 11 & 18 we ok he’ll get better rise up you fucker good pick💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯he’s one man we’re a team ‘next pick’
I'm not gonna say he's good or bad cause I haven't watched him but watching targets for a DB isn't a great way to evaluate him. Players are usually targeted when they are open or it's a contested-catch situation. Targets also don't show things film would show. For example, if the corner takes away or locks down a receiver so that the QB can't throw that way OR if he does let a guy open but the QB doesn't see him.
@@insertnamehere2964 Precisely. If viewers decide to take videos like mine and reference them as a start and stop for their analysis of a corner, then I feel I may be doing them a huge disservice. As you said, what my videos don't display are Coverage Snaps where the cornerback has his man shadowed and forces the quarterback to continue his progression, as well as Coverage Snaps where the receiver beats the defender, but the quarterback misses, is unable, or unwilling to get the ball to the pass catcher.
I honestly don’t know why people are so high on him. Im all for setting guys succeed but he is flat out garbage there’s no other way to put it. Tired of scouts rating these guys based on size instead of actually watching film. Don’t even let me get into the ohio state and LSU games
People get targeted when their man gets open. You could condense all the times Revis got targeted in a season down to less than a 5 minute video. These compilations are basically a lowlights reel for corners. There are things you look for when they get targed like INTs and PD's but the game doesn't work the way you think it does.

Shawn Golmes bust? Relax dude
Shawn Golmes dang chill out he has great potential and Julio and Calvin Ridley are gonna get him straight in practice he just had 1 bad game over a 3 year career against a godly offense
Right now in the league he is no doubt one of the best corners he improved a lot
Love seeing how all of these takes aged. Man is a top 3 corner in the league now.

Do cam dantzler
Either Cam Dantzler or Amik Robertson out of La Tech
Dantzler then Noah please. Eventually Troy Pride if you can. These are great, thank you.
Arnette!

Hes getting beat to much
At times he looks really good then there are times I just don’t know what he’s doing. He looks like a good number 2 corner in my opinion
Devante Smith AJ bouye
type
I love his tackling. His coverage skill will get better at the next level.
He doesn’t seem like an amazing jump ball corner , but I like him playing man to man on the inside. He seems to get beat a lot on the deep routes
Skyler Kline I think he’s getting beat because of Footwork but I’m not sure

This man is play with NO SAFETY HELP. He’s in great position almost every time just gotta finish.
I don't know what Atlanta was thinking! My boy struggling. Good combine though 🤷
How bout now?
@@Jhammer283 My bad bro, I'm a dolphin fan (Good defense) But I do recall the Bucs and the saints picking on him a little. But he's a rookie....
