I didn’t want to go to Donnie’s concert in Cleveland around 1980. I went reluctantly (cuz I had a free ticket). To this day I still have great memories of the show. The band kicked butt, Donnie was an amazing performer. Engaging, funny, and personable. Never judge a book by (the album) cover!
Love this song! Takes me straight back to my senior year in high school when this came out. It’s a banger that still holds up. Great song choice to react to!
"My Girl" released in 1982 from his second album King Cool was his highest charting single. It went to #25 on the top 100. Totally different sound by him.
The Jaggerz song was big back in the day. Ah Leah, Love is like a Rock, Sweet Merrilee…. Do You Compute was in rotation on MTV when they actually played music.
We all loved that song back when we were kids, still love it! great reaction. I was waiting for the part when you were going to just start shaking your head. lol
Yep - this was all over the radio at the time in New England... kinda like Hungry Like the Wolf a few years later... haven't heard it since then --- funny how this comes after my very 80s Jane Siberry request -- both *very* 80s...
Iris is just the *_SPELLING_* he used to make it easier for people to remember his name, so if you look again at his real last name, you can see that it would also be pronounced, Iris (i.e. Breaking down his name to I-Race, but sounding more like I-Ress).
Just a no would suffice. Being that I'm 62 I obviously know this tune as it was all over FM rock stations back in the day. Not really good at all. Talk about a one hit wonder. Cheers. 74'-84'....
He was 36 when this hit the charts. Still performs today at 80!
The drummer added that perfect playin and sound that put the hit sound that made it sound bad ass.
My go to sing out loud in the car rock anthem!
I had this on 45. Loved this track. Except for the falsetto Ahs before the solo.. they could have left that out.. the rest of it is *chef kiss*.
Love the power chords.
Can't go wrong with a good power cord.

This song was huge when I was a kid, his other hit Love Is Like a Rock is worth a listen as well.🔥
Thanks so much for this!
I've loved this song ever since it came out and since the 1st time
I heard it on the radio!
Rock on!

This song and his "Sweet Merilee" are two of my favorites of his.
I remember this song and Love Is Like A Rock were big hits in the early 80s.
Omg this song was the bomb in ny childhood teen years!!!
People who love this song will also love another early 80’s band Jon Butcher Axis’ song “ Don’t Say Goodnight.” GOD Bless all you good people!
So in 84/85 (i forget) hurricane Gloria made it up to Boston... G-L-O-R-I-A (U2? I forget) reminds me of this song which was still popular...
Good example of early 80s minimalism. Takes me back to high school.
What a great old jam👍👍👍👍
Still have my vinyl copy of this. Great song. I love the guitar tone in the short solo.

Check out "The Rapper" by The Jaggerz. Donnie's first band, Back then, rap meant to talk. 😀
They did the hall fame concert for football game and they were wild Cherry 🍒 and rapper number one hit. Wonder three times
How can you not heard this song?
Absolutely love this track. Don't know if I've even ever checked the rest of the album.

Sweet Merilee is a monster by Donnie
C'mon man! The keyboard in the bridge is epic!
Classic!
Hes alone
I was 13 when this came out!!! Huge hit such a banger!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Always loved this song. He does not look like this song sounds at all.
Great song . I liked your reaction to the “one part” . Funny stuff .
Fun listen. Some nice little bass fills, too.
The "Ah, ah, ah" section always worked for me, but I don't think I'll hear it the same again.😉
Was that a synth or a guitar?
sounds like both
Hey its a fun song thats all, and it should be run. The guy kind of looks like Eugene Levy. Who out there agrees

He did all the instruments and vocals (except drums) otherwise it's all Donnie
You have to listen to Agnes
So I’m not the only yinzer follower, I guess
