I love Polyphia for showing their instrumental skills in a sort of concentrated "showcase" style song. If you like more story arc music (like the essence of a soundtrack), my favorite band of this type is TesseracT and their studio album "Altered State" (2013) is almost prophetic of where I think prog metal/rock is going. It engages any audience in such a way that dissolves the tropes of genre. The songs are connected via 4 suites but I avoid the music videos since they are shortened. If you've never heard funk or sax with metal before, you've got a surprise waiting. :)
@@bobcieslinski You Absolutely have to check out Plini. He is one of the most incredible musicians of this generation. Check out Cascade first for sure, you won't be disappointed! th-cam.com/video/RiX7ZFe3kXs/w-d-xo.html
that was really cool and smooth. great sound that we haven't heard come from Tim before. i feel like we're lucky. with it being nearly impossible to predict what he (and Polyphia) will do next, it makes me believe that there are decades of innovation coming our way. they are constrained by nothing but their imaginations. and I agree with you, that Plini guy has a very cool vibe. gonna have to go and check out some of his music.
One of my favorite "Math Rock" collaborations of all time! I'm glad you gave it a reaction. Another good collab you might like is Tim Henson with the band Unprocessed. The song is called "Real." Very good jam, very worth the watch/listen! Polyphia and Unprocessed are on Tour together right now too. I'm seeing them in Fort Worth, Texas, and I'm super excited!
It's such a catchy, airy and summery song. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw who he was playing with, but they didn't go overboard with complexity. I kinda wish they would make another where they nerd out even more though :D
i love how this song just meshes all their styles together, i remember when i first heard this song and i was only listening, not watching, and i could tell exactly who was playing at each moment. you can hear the more funky style when cory plays, u can hear the melodic metal sounding stuff with plini, and u can hear the fingerstyle vocoder stuff with tim. each of their styles is here and out there while not being jarring, and the main chorus is just so smooth. it makes me sad knowing this song is only on youtube and not on spotify
Yeah all three killed it. They do have their own styles and if you know them you know right. I’d love to hear another one of theirs. Yeah wish it was on Apple Music.
If you have not already checked out Plini's stuff, it's so positively epic and ethereal sounding. His section in this song is a pretty good representation of his style and band's playing. Please check out Electric Sunrise, Handmade Cities, or Every Piece Matters. All of his stuff is incredible, great reaction Bob!
This song is a vibe!! I say this often, and I may have even said this on one of your reactions, but I want Tim Henson and Henrik Linder on a song together SO BADLY!!
I feel that it's a bit overstating to call this "analysis". Still, it was really fun to see the immediate stunned reaction when Plini's solo started. I've had Plini on repeat lately and I'm like, "yeah, yep, it really is like that"
You are obviously unbiased music conessour. Henson and Wong are just a poor background music to Plini. Thank you for your deep real analysis and opening eyes of dumb deaf listeners.

This is an amazing song! Plonk was a surprise for me.
That track is straight up butterscotch.
Personaly, I think that more than a song, this is a kind of spot for their neural dsp archetypes.

Please, react Gabriel Henrique - Leads the Way, Ease On Me, Oh Holly Night, Ocean, etc, etc. (level Dimash?)
I’ll add that to the list thanks!
Disciplined playing especially from Plini if comparing to his own songs. There is no the money back if you can see the fingers moving - feel here.
