Of course I don't know Korean or Japanese but there are a lot of borrowed words from Chinese in the Korean and Japanese language. So those ones I can pick up as they all sound a bit similar...but it only helps with vocabulary not actually knowing the language. Example, satisfaction = Chinese (Mandarin)'s Manzu = Korean's Manjogham = Japanese's Manzoku = Chinese (Cantonese)'s Mun Zuk. Actually Cantonese is closer to Korean/Japanese. Another word is cheers = Chinese (Mandarin)'s Ganbei = Korean's Geonbae = Japanese's Kanpai = Chinese (Cantonese)'s Gonbui Chinese has no phonetic writing system but there is the pinyin system to assist with learning Mandarin. But Chinese only has 4 tones so there are a lot of homonyms, so saying something in the wrong tone can totally mess up your intended meaning. Just listen to Jackson speak Chinese lol. Because his mother tongue is Cantonese, his Mandarin was not that strong and humored a lot of Chinese speakers.
