I love doing stuff like this and getting into the nitty gritty of a UI and see what it is that I can do to make things that much better for me. Great video and I look forward to your next UI video
I love this concept and would do something like this if I had two screens, but I haven't ever managed to get round to buying one. So, for anyone like me, you can kinda do this on one screen if you want. Just have everything you don't need to see constantly to fade out unless you mouse over it. I play relatively high end PvP, and my UI always shocks people when they first see it because I basically have very few things constantly visible. My main action bars aren't even visible unless I enter combat; when out of combat I simply see my most important abilities such as burst, crowd control and all abilities used to gap close or initiate combat. A lot of people in the PvP community have mocked my UI, but when I changed it to how I have it, my skill went up so much, because I was able to focus on important stuff without having clutter everywhere on my screen at all times. If anyone would like to see my setup, let me know.
I used to do something like this back in MoP, wouldn't even have my action bars on my screen for raiding, just a brief bar for CDs. Moved my own unit frame off too, since I was a healer and used grid. Very easy to see everything happening, probably the most enjoyable UI I've ever used, just having everything not directly combat related shoved off.
Alternatively, if you have a really LARGE monitor, you could use viewport to shrink your “playable screen” Down to a smaller monitors size, and then use the black space on the sides for maps and chat and whatnot.
How do you keep your character centered on visible area? When I make viewport, it covers my screen without changing POV so all I get is black area blocking vision almost all the way to character. And of course character and camera are way off the center of monitor when I stretch window like that
ohhh Man, i Remember trying to do this Back in the day, it was pretty handy, I might try it again, as someone who records a lot haveing the extra Data can be super handy
You got a windowed game in your ultra wide? How did you put the game going to the top and bottom edges? I got a Samsung G9 Neo and to achieve that I have a Python screen that moves the game window but it still doesnt go to the edge of the bottom screen. Basically its setting up the game to be taller , moving the window up so the top bar sits outside of the monitor viewport and stretching it down to the very edge. It also has a few things to change the windows decoration in windows to make the borders smaller. But its far from ideal solution. For position everything else I am using Windows Power Toys FancyZones
Super great idea! I am trying to duplicate what you have done, but in windowed mode if I stretch my game window up, it automatically also stretches left and right. How can you stretch in just 1 direction please?
I used to put all my meters and tertiary action bars and whatever down in a section at the bottom of the screen. Then use SunnArt to resize the viewport. This worked very well on my ancient CRT and the following 16:10 Mac I had. It's not so great on widescreen. Can't find a decent 16:10 monitor for a decent price anymore. I would go back. Edit: OH SNAP the CRT is right over there I was playing dreamcast with it. I'm gonna run a 17 inch emachines status screen lol
Curious on how you managed to get wow to play in the middle of your screen without the boarders showing and have the other 2 on each side of the game perfectly
I don't understand how this is recent video and his Leatrix shows v3.0.0 and the current downloadable version is 10 ! And there is NO option for Viewport in it.
@@Howtoleague actually I did !!! And its sweet ! Just use Nvidia control panel to merge 2 displays into 1 using the Surround Display option. I now have my center and left monitors as WoW, and right one for internet. The addon you want is not the one he talks about, it's Sunn Viewport Art to size game onto one, and now I have my left for chat and map. Really helpful when knocking out achieves and collectables.
Only thing that doesn't make sense is having your unit frame so far into the topleft corner, away from the action, being able to see your health is important in this game.
I first got Leatrix, enabled viewport. Set (in my case) the right view port to max size. Then I went into the graphics game settings. Changed to Windowed mode. Then dragged the edges of the window to the borders of my screen edges, and on the one side over onto the second monitor until the black area just hit the edge. I then realized that my character was way off center and realized I would not tolerate that or he does some other stuff he did not tell behind the scenes and said fuck it.

I've got the same monitor, Samsung g9 and I just play full screen. It's amazing, soo much space for all addons etc. You're overcomplicating it lad, just full screen it, get addons on the sides etc and ur good. Just put discord on ur top monitor
Have you had an issue with screen flickering on your main monitor when playing WOW? I just ran 2 monitors, so when i try to play wow i get bad screen flickering and im not sure why. Ive tried other games and its not an issue. im running a 3090 Ti
better way to do this could be using Surround settings in NVidia control panel if you dont mind having your top screen and main screen being treated as one monitor by windows
Neat idea. I was watching AOC's UI showcase in how they are trying to design a fully customizable UI since they will not allow add-ons, then I see an idea like this which would likely be impossible to achieve without breaching their apparent plans for TOS. Something very niche, very personalized, but certainly a reasonable change for the individual player. Some things can only be achieved through community mods and this makes me appreciate it that much more.
looks like the addon doesnt have that feature any longer
Opens map….. checks monitor behind me to see where I am, all my other stuff is on the monitor on the ceiling 😂

I don't have an "Enable Viewport" option in Leatrix...am I missing something?

Which version of MoveAnything are you using? I cant find a version thats made fpr Classic.

Leatrix plus does not even give the option for viewport on retail

how do you dual.sreen wow at the first place?

Thx mate. Will totally try this out! Teff
Im confused how you stretched the screen resolution? I may have missed something, but I don't think you mentioned in your video.
I did this to simulate ultra widescreen before that was a thing
Very cool but didnt work for me follow your directions but i dont have the option to resize after reloading.
I have a 49” ultra wide, how did you manage to get wow to display in the centre of the screen without the borders? It’s been infuriating me for years!
Where to find working MOVEANYTHING addon?! I couldn't manage to find any...
Doesnt work horizontally :( not like i want, the view port pulls inwards, i want to stretch a black area to the right
Does this work in retail? MoveAnything was broken beyond repair last I checked in dragon flight

How do you save the settings? Every time I launch the game it goes back to a tiny window
can't resize when doing this with monitors side by side. any fix?
Month later, are you still using this, how has it played out?
Love these wow + tech videos you do. No one else seems to do it lol
