    I have a couple of theories myself, mostly based on what I know about the historical witch hunts. One of them being that the witch hunts stopped being useless after the 14th century when the books say they were useless. In fact I believe that starting with the late 15th century, the witch hunts started to be really effective, hunting magic people to near extinction over the course of the next 300 years, and they choose to hide and disguise themselves in order to avoid being wiped out. That's also why there was so much muggle hate and so much fear from muggleborns. I think that "The Dark Arts" was actually a term from anti-magic muggle propaganda, imported via muggleborns and the muggle parts of mixed marriages, but "Dark Witch/Wizard" was a very honorable title to have until about the 1720s, when the muggle influence on magical culture lead to disrespect and distrust towards people who used such a title, or any magic seen as "Dark". I also believe that magic folks celebrated Walpurgis Night and Yule up until some point, where in order to appear more friendly to muggles and muggleborns entering magic society, they replaced Yule with Christmas and Walpurgis Night was done away with...

    • @Piecrab

      We still celebrate Walpurgis Night here in Sweden! It's called Valborg and is mainly an excuse for students and young people to get drunk from 9 am to 3 am.

    The first Death Eaters were: Nagini, Antonin Dolohov, Lestrange, Avery, Mulciber, Rosier, Nott. Why do I say Nagini? Because they knew each other, even before he became Lord Voldemort. This makes sense that she would join his organization, and the rest are his 6 original "friends". I am sure there were some more from the same time, there are also private names published about the 5, but they are not cannon to the books. I sure hope one day, we get to learn more about them, because until now they are shrouded in mystery.

    So why didn't Dumbledore reveal Tom Riddle's heritage to the world? That he was a half blood? Even though he would have kept his main death eaters, but he would lose support off the greater wizards that don't want a half blood leader.

    During his time at Hogwarts, Voldemort had a gang of fellow Slytherin students, which acted as a precursor to the Death Eaters. This gang included members such as Avery I and Lestrange, and possibly included Rosier, Mulciber I, and Nott as well.

    The history of Walpurgis has a bit more to it than just "witches communing with the devil" that was a catholic addition to discard the original pagan holiday. Also Walpurgis was a saint, making the holiday and its name just another one stolen from pagans.

    If JK Rowling really has all of this material worked out, than the thing to may be to release it on Pottermore at some chosen time in the future. At some point, when fans are eager for some new material and the social controversy over Rowling's views hs subsided, it may be a good series of articles for the site, much like the material she provided about Ilvermorny, just before "Fantastic Beasts."

    • @leventebardossy5962
      @leventebardossy5962 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not. Grindelwald got locked up in Nurmengard, beaten, in the year Tom Riddle graduated from Hogwarts. When Grindelwald was still at his peak, he would have no business with a bunch of high school students, learning in the building where Albus Dumbledore, his only real foe, lived.
      When Tom graduated, the Knights Of Walpurgis probably dissolved, as he went to work at Borgin and Burkes, then he officially was considered a missing person. He may have stayed in contact with the former Knights, but the order in its original form (as for what we know) didn't exist, until Voldemort returned over two decades later. By that time, they wouldn't have wanted anything from a fallen icon like Grindelwald, who ended up defeated.

      Not enough pure bloods so in their view half blood was ok to. In the trails they held in half blood prince you read in the books they focussed on muggle born and blood traiters and let half bloods be. At least for the moment it could be that later on they focus on half blood to with the exception on those who show great magic abilities such as snape and only let those be. Voldemort hated spilling wizard blood as seen in deadly hollows he told neville and gave him a change to join him
