He's an excellent interviewer, you should go find the full hour-long Off Camera show if you're interested. Some old episodes are on Netflix and I believe all of it are on Spotify as podcast, and I'm sure it's available elsewhere too.
I came across this channel yesterday while I was supposed to be at work answering the phone. I watched about fifty videos in succession...not proud, but happy...
There's actually an extra in the Series 2 Blu-ray where David filmed that moment, it's on the David Tennant's Doctor Who Diaries or something like that
It's one thing (& a significant one at that) for as a parent to get to have and share the pride and happiness for your son when they successfully make it into the acting world when that as a profession was such a dream of theirs since they were a kid, but then ALSO it's having attained in particular THE role within that career that they'd wanted so badly as a kid. When it's an insanely exclusive club to which that child now belongs, only 10 people (by then) have ever gotten to do this one thing across a half century of show legacy. It's like your son just nailed the acting equivalent of a dead on bullseye shot inside a 5 inch wide circle from 300 yards away lol
David's been my first and only man-crush, starting with his Doctor. Comes off as such a nice and lovely guy. But mostly I'm extremely envious of that hair.
From playing Doctor Who in the backyard to playing The Doctor on TV, how amazing it must be / feel to make real your childhood dreams. I’m still reaching for mine.
What a lovely interview. It felt like I was watching one of the old tv shows, like when Burton or Oliver Reed were interviewed. I'm so glad I follow you channel, just so interesting and sort of relaxing/peaceful. :)
It's wonderful to see David's passion for the show still shine through and in a lot of ways, because he was a fan of the show before, a lot of us really relate to him as a Doctor and I think that's probably some of the reason why the Tenth Doctor is loved so much and is the favourite for a lot of fans.
He's not my favorite Doctor character-wise (that's because of the writing), but he gave one of the best and most consistent performances in the show's history and brought such an energy that it launched Doctor Who to unrivaled new heights. His era working on Doctor Who will forever be fondly remembered.
Mine was Tom Baker (1978 or 1979, I think). I managed to see the last season of Sarah Jane Smith as his companion, and the episode when he dropped her off in England (and it was in the wrong neighborhood -- maybe the wrong city, and maybe the wrong year too).
I fantasize about being the Tenth Doctors second daughter, where he was able to raise me and teach me all his Time Lord knowledge and oh the adventures we go on💘and the memorials we have to honor our beloved Jenny 💝
It is a bit disappointing that once again David spends an interview talking about Doctor Who when that was ten years ago and he has over 100 credits on IMDB.
That made his career though. He has a great attitude about it as well, knowing that without it, his fanbase would never have increased at the rate it did.
David had just starred in Blackpool, Secret Smile, and Casanova and had several critically-acclaimed roles on stage when he was cast in Doctor Who. He was up and coming. It could be argued that Doctor Who altered his trajectory. It took up five years of his life and suddenly he was known as nothing but Doctor Who (until Broadchurch came along.) Despite his successful turn as Hamlet and Richard II, and several well-received BBC miniseries over the next few years, Dean Devlin and Neil Gaiman have both said they had to fight the money people to be able to cast David. Dean Devlin said he tried to cast him several times but no studio would let him. He is not seen as a "box office draw." He is only seen as "that guy from Doctor Who." He still has yet to be nominated for a single BAFTA or prime time Emmy, despite several award-worthy performances, suggesting that members of "the academy" simply do not respect him and/or possibly resent his popularity due to Doctor Who.
@@sallyatticum He's received a BAFTA Scotland award as well as numerous NTA awards including one for special recognition for his entire career up to 2015. So it's not like he hasn't gotten some recognition. The thing is Broadchurch didn't get the recognition it deserved and Jessica Jones was an American production. In fact most of the stuff he has done have been smaller roles or stuff like Duck Tales that his kids would like but that wouldn't get him nominated for BAFTAs. I'm sure before his career is over he will receive one as well as an Oscar. Dean Devlin isn't the best person to be an endorsement for talent though and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him so I don't believe what he says about no studio letting him cast Tennant. Especially since he's been in several movies since ending Doctor Who (that are definitely higher quality than anything Devlin would put out) and while he was making Who it's not like he could really do any big movies. Since ending his time on Who he has been in at least one or two movies every single year (that's not counting the crazy amount of stuff he does on TV since then).
This interviewer is remarkably good: intelligent, warm, curious.

I'm actually gonna cry I can imagine David's parents sitting in front of the television being like "that's my son!!"

Correct
The hair gives me life. And the beard. Do NOT get me started on this man.
THE THING ABOUT THE SCARF IS SO SWEET
From playing Doctor Who in the backyard to playing The Doctor on TV, how amazing it must be / feel to make real your childhood dreams. I’m still reaching for mine.
Well, Peter Capaldi (the 12th Doctor) *also* grew up a huge fan. Matt Smith was too young and I don't know about Jodie.
Especially being able to work with the late Elisabeth Sladen, could you imagine?
And then marrying the daughter, Georgia Moffett, of doctor number 5, Peter Davidson.
@@willimations277 indeed. R.I.P. to the late, great Sarah Jane Smith.
This guy is an insanely good interviewer
David Tennant is my Doctor, so it's lovely to see this interview. Feels intimate.
Doctor 10 inch
I love David😊❤️especially when he talks in quiet interviews like this one. His voice sounds sweeter and he looks even more adorable💗
When he talks about still having the knitted scarf 💖

I love David Tennant.....he such an amiable human being and a great actor
The depth of unspoken emotion when he says, "It's in storage, but I know where it is," could stager a team of ox.
The perks of good omens is more DT interviews! He is such a charming and eloquent person.
Gosh the guy is a lovely interviewer, and David is so sweet, I want to hug him !
Got to meet him at Comic-con and he is a sweetheart and was a pleasure for my husband and brother in law to meet! So polite and patient with his fans!
I'm going to meet him at a convention next month. I'm so excited!
Thought David was about to tear up from the thought of his sadly departed parents. The crack of his voice then...
"Did you spend alot of time alone as a child?"
Alright pal, cut to the chase why don't ya?
Such a mixture of intelligence, humor and humility is rarely seen. I admire him.
David Tennant is just perfect.
This just makes me want to rewatch all of his Dr Who episodes.

The first episode you had to come out this swashbuckling....
Most of his first episode he was asleep!! 😂
Yeah, somehow I don't think the interviewer had really seen much of David's run... :-P lol
Yeah, but he literrally got into a swordfight, so swashbuckling is accurate.
oh yeah 😂😂

A real decent humble talented man.
He is The Doctor
He’s so precious
Oh my dear Tenth, you almost made me run out of tears during your time as the Doc.
He made his dad proud. He became the Doctor
I literally love David so much it makes me cry
The best doctor and human!
My grandmother made me a Tom Baker scarf too.
And I still have it. 😊

no wonder he's the best dr of the modern age

This is just part of the interview, not the entire thing, and they've talked about quite a few different things here, including his theatre work.
