+johnny drone - never score electronic parts or the circuit board. If the pcb will not accept solder, the pcb needs to be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Same would be true for electronic parts.

abrasive scouring pad takes the finish off your solder tips, would definitely not recommend this method at all.
