      then maybe you can explain to me how I get snails in my tanks when I have

      & no fish or waste ?

    • @KJSully92

      @@unitedwestanddividedwefall2073 Did you buy the tank, filter or heater second hand? Could have had snail eggs on them maybe. Or substrate can sometimes have snail eggs. If you have no plants or fish in there just dump a bunch of aquarium salt in there and that will kill them. Or you can just squash them.

    I don't think using Salt with plants is a safe option specially with delicate and rare plants. Salt dehydrates healthy leaves and roots causing undue melting and rotting, at times the plant may even die.

      Let alone the force he used to shove the plants into the bowl you can hear a lot of them breaking. I would always go one by one rather than just shove them all into a bowl or tub (I get soaking them all together but than you have some that are soaking longer than others while you clean one possibly causing more harm than good)

    Nice try to help, but very bad information because you don’t specify the strength of the “peroxide” (hydrogen peroxide) at what strength? 3% or 35% people will get very different results with different strengths of solution.

    I'm quarantining my plants the slow way, at 86°F for 5-7 days. I welcome snails because the tank is for puffers, but I'm concerned with ich, velvet, etc.
    I am currently on day 5 with 86-88°, and am lowering the tank to around 82° to accommodate the fish.
    It has been 5 days at 86 and the first two days at 75°
    I plan on a water change tomorrow in preparation of adding fish.
    Will tomorrow be a safe time to introduce, or should I wait a few days longer?

    Gotta say I followed this advice exactly except i used kosher salt. Im now left with a heavily planted tank full of transparent plants. Even my swords got nuked. Just be carful when doing this process. Either do less salt per gallon, maybe half a cup or less time. Check them after 2 minutes to see how they are holding up.

    I hope someone sees this comment because I cannot find the answer to this question.
    So I have a planted aquarium. I didn't quarantine any fish and plants. Guess what? My fish are sick. I'm currently quarantining fish in a separate bucket but shrimp and snails are in aquarium. Will all fish diseases die after being in no contact with fish or can they survive on shrimp and snails?

    • @nicoledivino8008
      @nicoledivino8008 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honestly if you suspect all of the fish, shrimps, and snails are sick, put them all back in the tank and medicate the whole tank so everyone is getting treated. There's no point in quarantining if everyone is sick in my opinion. If you want to keep them separate, have a filter that's running on the bucket without a carbon filter media and treat the fish just as you would in the aquarium and keep medicating them for 1 to 2 weeks.

      Chinchilla Flowers I have plants in my 3 gallon so I don't think I can medicate the original aquarium, right?

    • @platyadmirer
      @platyadmirer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robin C. Aw boo. I'll have to find a plant safe disease medication if that's possible

    • @nicoledivino8008
      @nicoledivino8008 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@platyadmirer fish medications does not affect your plants at all so you should be fine when medicating all of your fish in the aquarium. If you're super worried about it, you can just take out the plants and put them in the bucket but leave the fish in the aquarium.

    • @platyadmirer
      @platyadmirer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chinchilla Flowers I ended up finding meds that specifically said they're plant safe and invertebrate safe so I'm mediciating the entire tank
