Nice video. Museum looks really cool. The CSX warning sign is for the current active tracks, and land owned by CSX. Notice the fence next to those RR cars of the museum.
Been to the museum and its a great place for old L&N history. CSX waycross GA to New Orleans M705 and 706 train symbols pass through and M734 is a local train to Milton. There's at least 2 trains a day coming from either direction. From videos ive seen on yt back in the 80s there use to be a lot of stopped trains before that crossing on the south end track waiting for a north bound to pass.

Very interesting video. Surprised there still is a working blade type semaphore block signal in use very interesting thanks for posting it. Have a great day everyone.
This is a 1960s-era/1970s-era signal design - I recognize it from what is now the Western Charles Rail Trail (former US Navy Spur between NAVSEA Indian Head and the CSX Pope's Creek Subdivision). Other than where it crossed Crain Highway (US 301), it had two lit crossings (without gates) - at Livingston Road (MD 224) and Hawthorne Road (MD 225); those three crossings were the only ones on the spur's entire length. (The most any other crossing of the spur - including the ones on USN property - had were crossbucks.)
I thought it seemed like 1960s/1970s era. Does US301 go all the way up by you in MD? If so, that would be quite a road trip. I love taking the road less traveled. Thanks as always for the views and comments, Christopher!
Nice little museum! I like that crossing as well. We have a train museum at my hometown. It used to be an old train station back in the day and they made it into a museum. The tracks is still being use everyday for Amtrak, local passenger trains, and freight trains. There's also an old crossing like this one in the video. They have model trains inside as well.
@@railrol82 You should try checking out the Railyards of Mobile Alabama. They have Alabama & Gulf Coast Railroad, Canadian National, CSX, and Norfolk Southern, plus Mobile has it's own Dock and Port Railroad. There are several abandoned railroads in the area as well.
That’s a classic the rail room light do you have a redo them one the railroad lights and everything oh yes definitely that shows real pride in the American railroad.
God that is so old. Did that bit of railroad used to be a railroad route or did they put it there for decoration for the museum. Love that train and signal
those railcars are from the 40's they all have friction bearings. and the boxcars still have walkaways (walkways were outlawed in the 60's) Friction bearings for interchange service outlawed in the 50's

Wow! So cool to see that they preserved history!

Nice find with the cat eye stop on red sign, the lights are actually federal signal Western Cullen division 8 inch lights
Awesome find! Thumbs up! 👍
Great find! Looks like a neat little museum there. The lights are actually Federal Signal 8 inch lights.
so federal signal doesn't just sells sirens and lights and sirens for emergency vehicles, BUT CROSSING LIGHTS!?? thats cool
They also have made crossing bells, signal bases and even crossing gate mechanisms.
But they stopped producing railroad products a long while ago and their equipment is becoming rare.
I may know a place with a FS M-Bell In Utah
That's my favorite type of crossing signal.

The old station is fixed up pretty nice I specially like the bay window Caboose from l&n

Really cool find. That's some really old stuff.
I've been to that railroad museum years ago, they had or has, a small model train hobby shop in the old depot.
That was a fascinating find. The museum looked as though it might be interesting.

FYI To get an approx. age of the boxcar, flatcar, & caboose, look closely at the wheels. Quite often, the year of manufacture is stamped on the wheels

neat old grade crossing signal :)
We have a museum in Aitkin, I don’t live there, I live in the twin cities and the museum has things live that too!
