Glad to see Kentucky finally taking some positive action on this. I would like to see more action against the actual paylakes, transport vehicles seized, licenses revoked etc.
I'm glad to see you posting on this. I'm in California, and we don't have many other types of catfish besides channels, bullhead, and white catfish. Keep up with the information
You are doing a good job bringing this to the attention of the public and hopefully putting a stop to taking trophy fish out of public waterways. Be careful, have you got any hate mail over this??
I've had a few negative or uninformed comments about it. That's about it for now. I still have to watch myself. I may not be going to the Catfish Conference ever again...
Thank you for posting this. I never even knew they did this. Sickening. We live on Watts Bar; what would we look for if someone is doing this? I would imagine they wouldn't do it right in front of us because there are a lot of homes in our subdivision that are on the lake. Do they throw out nets? (I'm not a fisherman so please forgive my ignorance.) I started watching your videos when you recently did the video about the water flow and the dams. Now a subscriber - my husband and I enjoy your videos and your cat is precious. BTW, we still see stuff floating down the river and man, the water looks really muddy and reddish/brown. Hope to see you out fishing on Watts Bar. We live in Grande Vista Bay. P.S. The airplane video was fantastic. Thank you for sharing that with us as well.
I've heard of them using both commercial fishing techniques like hoop nets and traditional rod and reel. They usually have a livewell truck hidden somewhere that comes in to exchange fish quickly at the most remote ramps they can find during the week. This is not to be confused with the threadfin dealers that use 300 gallon totes. They are usually legal and still get harassed by people thinking they have catfish (or just don't like them taking the fish food supply).
This is total BS that is happening. Most states has a poaching tip line through Natural Resources. Please add a slide to those tip line numbers for the states of Ohio,Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and so on. You’re doing good work brother. Let’s get this problem stopped.
If you can,t transport a live trophy live catfish, then the man who caught the tenn state record blue twice broke the law by transporting them to a place to have them weighed.Explain that to us.Or did they bend the rules.
Not that I know of. With trout its incredibly easy to get a ton from farms. I know several where I can 20 or 30 to keep as bait. They are incredibly hardy and make good Striped bass bait.
I think you being a TH-camr with very good camera skills that you could possibly follow some of these poachers and get video evidence of the illegal activities and then immediately contacted the local and or State fish and wildlife departments!! It's absolutely disgusting 🤢! We've went through similar poaching of big game here in Texas such as large whitetail bucks, mule deer bucks, some trophy elk, as well as some of the trophy exotics. The poachers were literally using trangilizers darts with spot lights etc then transporting them to whoever was purchasing them! I've been a outdoor enthusiast from the moment my father put a fishing rod and a firearm in my little kid hands! Thanks for keeping us informed!!!!
I have considered putting up a bounty someday on them. However these guys work during the week. I have a day job so I can't just grab my gear and head to the ramp they are caught at. I did have a chance once to put a tracker on one of their trucks (or simply get them caught). The party talking to them refused to cooperate with me. They wanted to "drop by" their place on a weekly basis to buy as many skipjacks as possible. They were heading south on a weekly basis to catch catfish for their pond. Thankfully this arrangement never happened. As a side note, I can't go near any trophy pay lake. At least one, years ago, threatened me if I ever showed up trying to film. I sent all their threats to their local police and they did nothing.
I live 9 miles from Wheeler and hate to hear of any fish being taken from here. Heard of a lot of these Ba$tards taking fish from upper Guntersville. Hope they can be caught who are taking from Wheeler too.
👍 agree After effects Are what we need to quiestion ss well great job ky. NOW Will the DNR replace the fish When they confiscate vehicles n equipment and fines Wheres that $ $$ go Whos replacing these fish !!!???? Also Releasing 5,000 Babies 5 inches Without breeding dna. Is a joke😂 And not a solution Keep up the good wrk 👍😁 on posts
Like the guy that snagged the "100 pounder" in the paylake. He was a "regular" at that lake and kept winning various tournaments. You cant trust these pond owners and they need to be shut down. My video podcast of it here: th-cam.com/video/ePChnaWC4PE/w-d-xo.html
Dont agree with any of this windmill the lake i fish has 3 lakes lake 1 lake 2 and lake 3 the smallest is lake 3 but lake 2 and 1 are pretty big lakes that are super super deep this was as for space for as the harvesting theyre basically being transported somewhere else so calm down and ill keep fishing my paylakes and swarping on 2lb channels
If they stock farm raised fish or if they are more of a real natural lake instead of a pond then its fine. TWRA has "pay lakes" in Tennessee however they are more natural with normal stocking. Look at the Carp fishing pay lakes in Europe. They try to make them as natural as possible. Its a night and day difference between a 1 acre "trophy pay lake" over here and a trophy carp lake over there.

Thanks for watching!
Still bad on the Ohio River. Have seen these folks checking their nets at night under the cover of darkness.
UGH - so they do use nets. Will have to look out for them. Thank you. So sorry they are doing this.
I hope they have a hard-nosed judge.

We should start a non profit chapter here.. and take it to Dc!
Building codes and game abuse depends on the public whistle blowers.
How are they catching all those catfish. I'm doing good to come home with 2 or 3 eaters after fishing all day and half the night.
Hoop nets, etc. They also go around paying for individual catches.

I think there is a for commercial purposes in the law. Tournaments do the same.

Grifters. When these jokers undermine the honor system, stewardship goes out the door. Disgusting.
