Take Delta for example, she is supposed to sound and act very doggy like and excitable (no thoughts head empty sort of innocence). Her VA does not portray that at all. I’m not saying she did a bad job, it’s just not what most people would expect. I’ve watched many anime’s subbed/dubbed and I’m usually feeling like something about HIDIVE’s dubs that just sound wrong. Even if I watch a show dubbed first, it’s not the best.

Man I love this scene he knows that he has no reason to run cause that is how overpowered he is and when he unleashed his ability on the words why would I run i thought for sure he was going to level that whole area encased in his light but he used it as a guise to get away honestly he probably could have just place his hands on the back of his head and started whistling walking off to the next area he wanted to go to and if anyone tried to stop or kill him he would just glance and then they would be frozen in place from fear

Hellsing Alucard? What were you thinking? I can see a few, his excitement at fighting a worthy opponent and immediate disappointment as with Luke Valentine. His take on the situation unfolding before him while the world is terrified and he just laughs, this scene vs Alucard summoned by the queen and laughing at the major. Honestly, they have more similarities than I thought. I've been trying to find the literary term for Cid/Shadow. He isn't really an anti-hero because he doesn't recognize the righteous as being morally correct but weak (John McLain, Deadpool, Wolverine, Punisher). But he isn't a true anti-villain either, as he does good things in fighting the cult, but doesn't do it for heroic or villainous reasons. A good anti-villain is from Tiger and Bunny "lunatic". He is a villain who does positive things that are morally reprehensible (killing all murderers) even when they're in prison. The best comparison may be Alucard, but he has a master. He follows the orders he's given and morals aren't for him to decide. But Cid has no master. So what is he, somewhere between hero and villain, anti-hero and anti-villain....I don't know the literary term, but in reality we might call this a god. He makes his own morals and is therefore just in all he does.
After much research, it seems Cid fits a couple roles. Primarily he is a free radical, a term you won't find in literary terms often. There was another term where basically the protagonist is his own antagonist for one reason or another even if there is an antagonist for the story at large. Cid, mundane, shadow, John smith...Cid is balancing all his personas and actually sabotages himself. He takes on a role, but something outside his control makes him modify his plans because this persona wouldn't behave that way. Arbitrary rules he places on himself.
For people complaining about the laugh, you should remember he is putting on a show and it's a rehearsed fake laugh. The fact it sounds q bit off makes a lot of sense when you remember who "Shadow" really is. He's Larping.

i love how Iris realizes her one consolation, that everyone knows hes a threat and will fight him, is taken. That hes not scared of everyone coming after him means she cant beat him in the dark, and she cant beat him in the light. Not even the power of her nation can match him. Watching this like Alexia is the protagonist and we dont know who Shadow is puts it more into perspective. She finally understands her kingdom is beneath him, and that breaks her.
To tell the truth the 7 shadows could already destroy the nation , even without the seven shadows and just the no name shadows... each of the no name shadows has more power then any one of the imperial soldiers lol

Princess Iris is one of the characters I want to see what happens to. She going down a dark path due to her arrogance. IIRC, in Vol 5 its stated she being surrounded and mislead by members of her knights order who have strong ties to the cult. I forsee her younger sister being the one to stop her when she goes to far.
Both the sub and dub for this scene are fantastic. In the sub, you get to see one of the few times, if not the only time, Cid sounds offended by someone else. But the dub just kicks so much ass. This is the best example of why dub vs sub is a stupid argument. Both are good. I will also say, the dub's "Why would I run?!" does kind of remind of the "You say I get no bitches, but where are YOURS?!" guy.
