    Kirby, will this hinder somewhat the leather's breathability?
    Thanks for the video.

    Awsome video! Would you do this with a shearling suede jacket to make it more waterproof?

    I love all of your videos! My question is: should you use a waterproofing spray on regular leather shoes and boots, or only on suede? If I use waterproofing spray on my Paul Green or Aquatalia leather boots, will that make them harder to clean and polish in the future? Thanks for all you do to educate us in proper shoe care!

    Great video! Could you make a video explaining what nubuck is and how to take care of it. I'm thinking about buying a pair.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lasskh Nubuck is sanded leather on the grain side (top side) vs the flesh side (underside) which is traditional suede. Nubuck has a much finer texture than suede. Care is the same except you cannot use a hard bristle Brush. Need to use either a crepe brush or, just as good, a clean horsehair or pig bristle shoe shine Brush.

    Do you completely saturate and wet the suede with the waterproof spray, or just lightly coat it?

    • @philmessina476
      @philmessina476 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question. I just received some Saphir products. I applied the Renovateur conditioner spray to a pair of nubuck botines, followed by the Super Invulner just now.
      I wasn't sure how much to saturate the material. I figured I just need to apply an even coat; you'll notice the color darken as the suede or nubuck moistens.
      I guess one can test the suede or nubuck with a few droplets of water after applying a coat of Super Invulner, then add more, if needed.

    Just curious Kirby....What are your thoughts on rubber overshoes? Not just for suede but in general? I live in a northern climate and don't want to wear my dress shoes in the snow. Are rubber overshoes a good thing to use? Or should I just bring my dress shoes to work in a bag and change into them when I get inside?

    What are your thoughts on using the Saphir Super Invulner Waterproofing Spray on a 20X felt cowboy hat? The felt is similar to suede. I want to protect that since I know i will be in the rain with it.

    I have a pair of New Balance 974, of which are waterprrof. Now I don't know what the outer layer is made of but I do use the spray on each winter and about every 2 to 3 weeks because of where I live. How do I tell what the material is to be ab le to get the right coverage for the shoes

    Dear Mr. Allison, on the Renovateur-spray it says, that it is also causes the material, in this case the suede to be water-repellent. When would you say the Renovateur-spray is not enough and Super invulner should be applied? If somebody else has had some experience with these two poducts regarding water repellence, I would be thankful to get to know your opinion on my question as well. Many thanks

    What should I do for my Adam Derrick or Gucci driving shoes... one of them is due for a lengthy day as I drive a Grand Marshal along our route this year, and likely next too.

    Hi there Kirby, I was wonder how the Sole Guard would affect leather sole when it interacts with a wooden floor. Since I use my dress shoes mainly for Blues, Balboa, and Lindy Hop dancing it's really important for my shoes to be incredibly slick while gliding across the dance floor.

    Is the water proof temporarily or permanent? If not, how often do we need to keep waterproof the shoes?

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Temporary. Reapply once water no longer beads.

    It's a great product of Saphir. I use it for a years and not only for suede, but for my umbrellas and even for cuffs of trousers in autumn while weather is wet and dirty.
    Unfortunately it's NOT suitable for my fleece fishing jacket with gore-tex lining. Gore-tex stops breathing:(.

      All the Saphir products used should be available on other websites as they probably are the most famous brand for shoe care in the world. If you were talking about the brush from his own brand, just buy another brand as there isn't really any big difference.

    Liquiproof works a lot easier and is a lot cheaper than buying three products, all you do is spray three coats and let dry and then voilá watch the water roll off
