One more overlooked factor about Kumar Gaurav failed career apart from his poor acting is the demand for action stars. Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Da, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt and even Anil Kapoor were projecting themselves as Angry man and Kumar Gaurav was a chocolaty boy which worked before Bachchan era.
Exactly compared to his contemporaries, KG is a crappy actor. He’s NOTHING compared to Anil Kapoor, Sanju Baba, Govinda or even Sunny Deol. When Sunny is good, he’s good! his acting is mediocre like his father’s. He did not stand a chance with his counterparts at all.

I didn't know all this detail since I only saw Love Story and then didn't have an opportunity to see any Bollywood flick for about two decades so knew nothing about whatever happened to these two shinning stars I became so instantly fan of as a young teenager.
When Aamir Khan's debut movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak became a super hit and a few subsequent movies flopped many critics labeled him a chocolate boy and a one-film wonder and the rest is history.
I think his father sabotaged his son's career. Because there was some romance between him and vijeta pundit and his father didn't let them work together again
His first film was a luck. After that he did not have so much talent in him to stay a star. He was lean but looked pale. But there were actors like anil kapoor who were lean and projected a very strong persona. Even Sanjay dutt was lean at some point. Even though kumar gaurav had a good face, so did Amir khan who too had good face. But Amir had a strong persona and Kumar gaurav did not have that.
That happened with Kapoors. Raj Kapoor also did politics with our Bengali hero Uttam Kumar. We Bengalis therefore boycott Bollywood especially the Kapoor films. We watch all other movies.

No...i dont agree..His real problem is being a chocolate hero. Career longitivity of a hero depends on the number of action films he does but not love stories. Kumar Gaurav was not suitable for action films and at the same time his contemporaries Anil kapoor, jackieshroff, sunny deol and sunjoy dutt excelled in action films and extracted good mileage to their career .

Hey first time commenting on this channel, well produced. I feel that it was a combination of factors such as industry relations and for sure arrogance. But I feel in my opinion he seems like a good human, so whatever transpired, he still was a bloody good actor. I think he shud defo come back in streaming, he's an asset
What I believe is that he must has been a papa's boy since he did well in both of his dad's movies but not so well in others. Raj Kapoor may have had used some muscle to discredit him but I think the prime reason to blame for his lackluster career was his own attitude. When a sudden success, money, fame goes up over one's head, they can't think of act reasonably. Not only it reflects bad on their decision making, it also brings out unaccommodating reaction from others especially of those who are not dependent upon their approvals and, hence, the reversal of fortune...or, ahem... karma, if you will! But if he acted any movie today, I'll probably still watch it out of sheer curiosity just for him because, to this day, I am a big fan of Love Story not because it was any a unique or original story/movie but because its music and the nostalgia of the movie's theme premise resonated so much and so well with my own then young teen dreams and hormones overload.☺️😁

Comprehensive video! He was a conventionally good looking actor with a lot of backing from his dad. Other factors aside, Kumar Gaurav was lousy in acting. After initial success one has got to prove their potential to keep riding the wave. He never improved in his skills much.

Even though kumar gaurav had a good face, so did Amir khan who too had good face. But Amir had a strong persona and Kumar gaurav did not have that.

Kumar Gaurav was not suitable for action films and at the same time his contemporaries Anil kapoor, jackieshroff, sunny deol and sunjoy dutt excelled in action films and extracted good mileage to their career .

What I believe is that he must has been a papa's boy since he did well in both of his dad's movies but not so well in others. Raj Kapoor may have had used some muscle to discredit him but I think the prime reason to blame for his lackluster career was his own attitude.
When a sudden success, money, fame goes up over one's head, they can't think of act reasonably. Not only it reflects bad on their decision making, it also brings out unaccommodating reaction from others especially of those who are not dependent upon their approvals and, hence, the reversal of fortune...or, ahem... karma, if you will!
But if he acted any movie today, I'll probably still watch it out of sheer curiosity just for him because, to this day, I am a big fan of Love Story not because it was any a unique or original story/movie but because its music and the nostalgia of the movie's theme premise resonated so much and so well with my own then young teen dreams and hormones overload.☺️😁
