  • East Africa’s ethnic Nubians have a rich cultural history that dates back thousands of years. Originally from the region south of Egypt that today is known as Sudan, Nubian peoples migrated and occupied lands along the Nile River. In Kenya, ethnic Nubians are facing hardships, including, among other things, the loss of lands they have lived on for generations. They say the government has reneged on its pledge to award them title deeds for the land plots and many face eventual eviction. VOA’s Lenny Ruvaga has more on the situation.
