I always ask dock owner's harrasing me if they would be kind enough to call the Game Warden. Even offer the number to call.. and explain to the officer why i can't fish his dock or the law I've violated by doing so. They usually just walk away. You did great.
I use to fish a dock that the owner said they feed the fish and they are pets. I told him if I caught any fish with his name on them , I'd throw em back. I also owned property with a dock on same lake. Anglers fishing docks are inevitably going to make off casts and the vast majority of dock owners understand. If you get hung , try to remove Lure without getting on dock but if it's hung so it's necessary to get on dock , I'd do so quickly getting lure loose then returning. This action would depend on location and experience with owners. Most like myself understand.
Hassle a fisherman or a hunter in Texas and see how that works out for you when you’re reported to the Game Warden. We have laws against it. I had a cop hassle me for fishing in a marina in my boat and the Game Warden said he had no right telling me to leave.
Placing a dock on a public lake, which requires a permit, doesn’t confer ownership of one drop of the water therein. Just as having a driver’s license doesn’t confer ownership of one inch of public roadway.
True but you also can not throw garbage or other projectiles at someone’s car in traffic or Parked on the side of the road . Fishing around docks is fine , hitting their boat or dock with your lures not cool
Omg dude.... hitting there dock is NOTHING dude and not only does he not own the water he doesn't even own the land within 5 feet of the waters edge as well. Tyler could have been a real prick and seriously effed with dudes feelings if he wanted to. You guys are all insane dude. He got nowhere near dudes boat and he was probably lying about someone's bait doing almost 2k in damage
@@StereoCrisan-mr9de What does "garbage" have to do with anything, and you have a weird definition of "projectiles" when referring to a plastic frog as one. You are wound WAY too tightly.

I can't cast as well as you do. Truth be told. I have hit some hulls and lost lures that wrap on railings. I have repaired upholstery on my own boat and having someone else doing it. Was not cheap. I can see how a hook could rip a hole while trying to get your lure back. I have hooked enough pdf's in my lifetime, which makes them technically no longer US Coastguard certified . Your a better man then I am, I typically try and hit the dock post and water at the same time time. I just feel like the thump, water splash and bait falling triggers a lot of reaction bits! I don’t typically fish metal docks and if I do it’s a total difference approach. But I’ve never had anyone complain about it and if someone did I do like you did and just move to the next area.
Love how you stuck with your goal. I love it when fish bite, of course. I love it even more when I hit pay dirt after a 3 or 4 hour struggle. So satisfying! 0:15
Hey Tyler, you handled yourself very well with the dock owner. Many people would’ve said “what is your problem dude”, but you did the right thing. And congrats on that 13 pounds!
That was epic! Great video Tyler. Way to keep grinding and getting the job done. I am getting settled down here in Alabama. You should come down in spring and do some fishing with me. Maybe we could to a Tyler Berger challenge video!
I think the problem with dock owners is that there are frequently really bad casting fishermen out there who do hook boat covers, lines, bumpers and other items on their docks. And a Texas rigged worm with a 1/2 oz weight can chip the gel coat of a nice boat. This more frequently happens on private lakes up north where I fish and I do my best to make sure my casts do not risk hitting their boats. Flipping the docks seems to be the best way to cast accurately and avoid the owners property . However, I do remind the dock owners that they do NOT own the water but I respect and will avoid striking their property. Of course a lot of the way I respond depends upon how they treat me. Come at me in a threatening manner or throw a cast at me and I will respond accordingly and remind them of the laws of the water.
Whenever I see a boater fishing around my dock, i stop what I'm doing, march straight down there and promptly ask them if they've caught anything today :)
Good on you to avoid further confrontation. When you go fishing, you go to have a good time, forget about the real world and stress, and just focus getting that next fish. It's not worth your time.
That's a wonderful area to fish. I was stationed very close to there, back in the early 80s, at Seneca Army Depot. GREAT for outdoor sports like fishing and hunting.
I've fish with guys that have snagged docks and broke it off and just left it all tangled on the dock! I never do that. 99% of the time i am fishing out of a kayak and if i snag a dock i always paddle up and retrieve my tackle off that dock, I wouldn't want a anybody to get hooked because of my mistake. I have never encountered anybody like this ever. Always kind exchanges...I've even had people unhook me and thank me for making the effort to retrieve my tackle. This situation is kind of like living on a golf course and complaining when a ball lands in your yard.
I admire your noble attitude towards that situation with dude, but when someone has a dock on the water they should accept the fact that it's just part of it.
Home in six to seven hours!! My wife and I couldn’t make it to mosquito lake from Twinsburg. We turned around 3/4 the way there her knee was hurting I was tired and my back was hurting. Young man hold on to your youth and enjoy your vitality.
The question is did the guy really have someone do damage to his or a neighbors dock/boat or did he just not want anyone fishing around his dock. Regardless you did the right thing. I always try to do the right thing but when someone starts cursing me the old army sergeant comes out in me and I’m not to proud of the things I’ve said back. I just refuse to take that kind of junk from folks.
I learned about this way back in the 80's & while there are some Home Owners who think they own the fish & water out in front of their home, most of them are trying to stop the thieves. I'd dealt w/ this for years & then a rich Uncle bought a multi-million dollar piece of property in Northern Virginia on the Occoquan Reservoir. I'm not rich but the thieves are always doing what is alright for them & sadly it's not only fishing. That said, I admit I hated their logic when I've been told I can't fish public waters & their are some of them that think they OWN everything out in front of their place = Not So ! I now have empathy for what is a serious problem & only after he bought his place did I see how bad it is first hand. By all means we've got the right to fish the waters & there's no magic pill to stop the criminals but if you're an up -n- up honest fisherman, watch for their property to try to catch the thieves..... If you had the property which I do not, you'd instantly know/understand how bad it is? Keep on fishing... peace & GB ALL
A couple years ago I was fishing on a river as I have done for over 40 years.. I was fishing a dock and there was a man cutting trees in his back yard and he saw me.. he ran down to the dock and proceeded to stick the chain saw blade into the water and started revving the motor.. lol.. I make sure I fish that dock every trip.. 😂
Well that was a long 7 hours for ya but I turned out great. Some times it just takes time. As far as the guy on the dock,he was just mad cause you gad a nice boat lol. Thanks for the video 👋
I am not sure of the legal implications and I understand that a dock owner can't legally do anything if a fishermen decides to fish on their dock but couldn't dock owners just put out a sign or something to let fishermen know they would prefer to have their dock left alone? I feel like this would avoid unnecessary confrontation.
Never mind I just realized you were on waneta lake lol I recognize that canal way anywhere 😂 you weren’t far from me at all. So many good Lakes to fish around that region. Next time try conesus lake stay to the northern east corner for bass fishing walleye and pike towards the southern end

My thing as a bank angler is the guy on the boat has the whole lake so they can sacrifice my area. But no they usually come through slapping baits around and running their trolling motor and mouths. I try not to care cuz i usually catch them anyway.
It always baffles me how quickly those types of people are down at their dock hassling fisherman. I've had times that before my first cast they are outside saying something, do they seriously just sit there watching out of their windows waiting for us to come by?
I fish. We have a small place on a decent sized lake that doesn't have very many camps/cottages. There are lots of coves and long stretches of coast with no camp anywhere. On a few occasions, we have had boats come damn close to our beach and cast into our tiny cove with kids in the water. I have not patience for that at all. Plus, I have pulled various spoons, crankbaits etc out of rope we use to anchor our water supply. Again, I fish. That said, I am pretty sure a frog isn't going to cause any damage. So, come sense is a good thing when fishing.

way to handle that super professionally. a lot of guys would have gotten defensive and fired back, but in those situations just walking away is a solid move. Yeah, by law they’re not supposed to build anything on a piece of property that doesn’t belong to them!
