Don’t worry, I promise it’s not as bad as you think! Just start with a light tampon and gradually move to heavier ones if needed. When putting it in to reduce pain, lay down on you back and insert it downwards so you won’t feel anything. Use a mirror if needed, but don’t be scared because my first time I didn’t feel a thing!

I am telling you that taking out the tampon hurts so much. It didn't hurt much putting it in. It been 2 years, and I wouldn't go near tampon again.
Candy Kpoplover this is my second year of having my period and I tried some small tampons, if you put the tampon in dry it will hurt a lot more. What I do is put a little bit of water around the area, then put the tampon in. I did the same thing as you but trust me it's a lot better

You can double up your pads
When I wore pads, for the nighttime I started taking a clump of toilet paper and tucking it in, you know, between my butt cheeks. In the morning, the TP could be bloody but my underwear would have no stains. Make sure there's overlap between the pad area and the TP area. Hope this helps!

If you’re bloated during your period and you’re planning to go swimming you can try wearing a high waist bikini bottom :) it really helped me feeling more comfortable😊

My period is really weird. It’s not painful at all but I have a SUPER DUPER heavy flow. Like I’m not kidding I have to change my pad every 1-2 hours because it’s so uncomfortable. And i haven’t even had my period for that long! Also every time I try to get a tampon in it doesn’t go in all the way 😢

I have to say, tampons make life so much easier on your period! There's no waterfall every time you stand up, no pad moving everytime you walk and they rarely leak. Just make sure you change them every 4 hours. You don't even feel them and they are super easy to apply, especially if you buy the ones with the plastic applicator. My favourite brand is Tampax Pearl. :)
