I agree with you! I haven’t seen much of TG’s work outside of GH, but I know his performances with other actresses also portraying Luke’s love interests were very unconvincing, with only dead air between them!

Mr. Geary, you really dropped the ball on your pairing with JE/Tracey.
How ironic, finally Luke sees what Laura saw all along. Sonny draws trouble. Now she's gone. Took him long enough for Luke to get the obvious. I can't stand Felicia always hanging around. She's like a petty mosquito.
I miss having Lesley around as a regular cast member. She was the lead actress back in the early to late 70's. There was something about her that was so warm and kind and a little vulnerable. People always cheered for Les when the chips were down. And she always found her way back. She had a lot of strength deep inside of her.
I know everyone loves Luke and Laura and I did, too, the old Luke, but Stefan really loves Laura and treats her so good here compared to Luke over the past few years. He is as much a victim of Helena as everyone else.
Stefan could be quite devious, but I believe his feelings for Laura were sincere, if not a big more than obsessive. Luke, Stefan, Stavros and Scotty were all fanatically obsessed with her. About the only one that wasn't was Kevin. Their love grew gradually, and I think they made a good couple. When he wasn't busy being his evil twin Ryan, that is. Ahhh, soap operas. As crazy as they are, we still have to watch.
My goodness, I was watching this show to get a litte bit escapist entertainment in form of a romantic love story but slowly I‘m getting really depressed by this amount of despair, hopelessness and sadness. But just when it becomes almost a litte bit too realistic (which is a compliment to AG and GF!), voilà, there is St. Stefan to get on my nerves again! I bet soon we can see a halo around his head! As for AG: I have more and more difficulties to distinguish between the character and the actor. „Life is a dream killer“ - in sentences like this I hear AG, putting his own stamp on the part he‘s playing. It‘s like a constant meta-commentary in relation to what he has to play and this lacking distance from the role reflects surely a certain arrogance, which is okay for me but I assume that the "normal" soap audience back then was sometimes irritated.
I think he was slowly loosing Luke and a new person emerged. Probably a natural result of bad writing, stories and AG's arrogance/ego. The new person didn't have the L&L chemistry that original Luke had.
TG said in an article he had been weary of playing Luke for decades, and was tired of the glorification of LnL. Every talk show he and GF were on, clips of the wedding were shown. They were never supposed to have a romance, let alone get married. Both he and Genie were tired of sweeping the rape under the carpet, and reached a point where they both said it. Gloria Monty called it a rape/seduction, which is basically a contradiction. But, inexplicably, the ratings soared, GM saved GH from cancellation, and the rest is history. I'm glad the rape was finally discussed and dealt with. 20 yrs. later than it should have been, but it was finally broached.
I don’t know why they split up Luke and Laura. I still don’t understand the diamonds thing and kidnapping lucky and Luke and Laura not even questioning that it was a set up. Helena is around and this other Diamond guy. They couldn’t figure out it was a set up? Why?
AG seems like he's simply reading lines as Luke Spencer during this time, and maybe adding some that he wrote. A part of him seems disinterested. The fire within him in the early years simply isn't there. Maybe it's age, bad writing or some dispute off stage. Sad to see.
No the whole vibe of the show changed from back in the 80s; the melodramatic writing, one-dimensional bad guy characters, and complete lack of humor , now add in too much sad piano music, darkly lit sets, slow storylines and, well, here we are.🥺😴

Lesley knows Laura went to see Luke after the funeral since she pushed her to go to him. Luke and Felicia were a strange couple. He should have paid (no pun intended) more attention to Tammy. They were completely straight with each other and Luke knew plenty about "working girls". The producers and the writers really come up with weirdest storylines. Felicia should have stuck with Mac instead of getting anywhere near Luke. He devolved into a bitter alcoholic and a true criminal with mob ties. Laura just wanted peace and quiet and safety in which to raise her children. She and Luke ended up in two separate worlds.
Blame Luke's "weakness for blondes" lol .... While I didn't mind Fluke and even liked them at times (couldn't resist their dancing), I would've much preferred Luke/Alexis but I guess since she wasn't a blond, she was sadly not an option.

I thought when you write a story line it had to make sence this storyline made no sence Laura was there when Luke stopped the cassadies they kidnapped her her mother held her against their will and she ends up with a cassadine remember that stepon knew Luke was alive and didn't tell her Luke would have kept it a secret he was Lucky's father let alone order lucky to marry someone for money they made Laura look really dumb

She gave up everything for him. Sounds like I know them... well it’s easy to get caught up.
I think this grief is so raw and good because obviously TG and GF are great at expressing this level of emotion but also TG and GF appear to be having a real separation of LNL. I wonder if this phase is when TG was truly growing tired of LNL and felt like he had nothing left to pour in to it. It's awful how dark this is but truly realistic and appears to be TG's (and GF's) true emotions at the time. It also is a season of loss since JJ was leaving the Lucky character as well. Boy...they all had some truly heavy emotions to deal with. Also going through this part of the storyline gives me a greater appreciation for why hardcore LNL fans cannot get through it or skip it all together.
It broke my heart to see Luke throw away that ring that was given in so much love so long ago. Luke lost so much. Ruby, Laura and now Lucky. “I wish I could tell you to get on with your life when the best is behind you.” Losing Laura was the best of his life. Luke just slid into the bottom of a bottle once Laura was lost to him . . .
Then she blames Sonny and Jason for what happened to lucky blamed Luke for trusting sonny did Luke ever lie to Laura about anything let alone a kid did Luke ever trust Frank Smith but you say Luke is a criminal what did he steal
