Bob Pease, "I love Eva Cassidy's version of this song ..." I agree. For years I believed that I would never hear anyone else sing this song (my favorite sad song of all time) more to my liking than Eva Cassidy did. I was wrong. I have a playlist here on youtube with 30 versions of it, and I have put THIS one first in that list, ahead of all the others -- including two by Eva Cassidy (numbers two and three). If I get enough warning before my last breath here on earth, this is what I will be listening to on my way out. (EDIT: Of course, I reserve the right to change that choice to Reina del Cid and Toni Lindgren's version of "Jambalaya", if tapping my toes is an option at that moment. Decisions, decisions.) Sometimes when I listen to Yves Montand singing it in French I consider moving it up to number 2, but I think Stevie Cain's version is safe at the top of my list for a long time. By the way, if you have not heard Gabriella Quevedo's (user: Gabriella9797) instrumental version you might also enjoy it. Also, if you have not heard Stevie Cain's covers of "Simple Man" or "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground" I would highly recommend them, along with others she has on her channel.
@@steviecain, The respect you give to the songwriters by putting their names right in the title of your video is commendable. Maybe being a songwriter yourself gives you a greater appreciation for their work than most artists seem to have. (I love your original song, "My Painting On The Wall".)
This is exquisite. This song is often paired with a Johnny Mercer/Barry Manilow (yeah, I know, but trust me) song called "When October Goes". This would be just delicious if you sang that. I just stumbled on you tonight, but I am enchanted. Take care.
Now that's a woman's voice ! of heart full of compassion and truth. I could listen to you all day. God bless you my dear, hope your able to see...
