cant believe we actually made it happen. not only direct mode for all yall on controller, but also a sens slider and a max lock slider for people on keyboard like me.
Rare to find a fellow keyboard player, you got any tips for setting things up? Maybe share your settings so I can use them as a base for tuning my own?
@@Chleb42 for the coming update i would use around 80-90 sens, and 90-100 max dynamic lock (i was also in this press preview build so i already got to try). For prosettings i mostly just adjust camber to -0.25 on both front and rear, suspension im usually too lazy to touch and its more of a case by case basis, same story with arbs. Tuning doesnt have as big of an impact as it did in tc2.
The fact that Goliath pointed out the unfairness of this game and got an official response and fix, as well as an early access to the experience, shows how much the officials value him and other players! Making the game fairer is great!

@@TheGoliathoh i will Also, I've never used wheelmode, so this is going to be real fun to learn (I did some experimenting already, and I know I have a long way to go). First Grand Race I was in had Predaking in it, but I managed to go toe-to-toe with him for about a minute before he pulled away. Without direct mode enabled. It was right at the end of the first section in one race where I immediately noticed where I was slower entering a turn, so I gave it a try but underestimated how twitchy it is.
Thank you for this excellent video, very clear and informative for the entire community of our game, you shined. We'll see tomorrow when it comes out for everyone, how all this feels. well done!
i think that's a good sign and also means that we can do alot of improvement as community if we stick together the way we did with this wheelmode issue.

Actually I come from FH5 so I'm used to manual w/ clutch on controller . I would be glad if we could have an integrated clutch to the game on controller .
Having something like this in an arcade racer is just cool in of itself. I initially wasn't interested in Motorfest (And won't be because of how Ubisoft has shown they will treat their online only games), but I admit, Ivory Tower impressed me with this.
5:13 I start panicking before the race even starts the second I realize ring, ryno, exile, shino, you, simgii, predaking, patchy, drako, nirvanna, and shinkyuu idek why it’s just Ik the race is gonna be tuff when that start timer hits 0

I recommend keeping that at 100. It determines when you reach your max steering angle. So if you set it to 50 then you only have to move your stick halfway to get full steering lock
Can’t wait to be forced to adapt to a total change in order to stay competitive. Loved this game for its more punishing physics, but i don’t know how to feel about this. I’ll try to stay positive going into it but this is gonna be a huge shakeup for the competitive side of this game that many people just wont be able to adjust to, not everyone can carry that level of precision that consistently for every discipline. I worry about the implication of this on the Summit, but I hope it’s not terrible.
This is very interesting. I can’t wait to try it when I get back home. Tire scraping might be a problem though. I have a habit of killing my analog stick for tight corners or fast paced ones. Overall another way to get better. Thanks for the video Goliath 👌🏽.
Great! My issue with Motorfest always was the reaction time of the Cars, now with the direct mode imma be able to drive just as i did on The Crew 2 with very sensitive vehicles i steer slowly moving the joystick as i turn
I might get the game now. But I'm still having a little bit of fun on Forza Motorsport. To be more specific I'm having fun driving the F1 and the AMR PRO. P AND X and the GTP series are the only classes I like .
Nice video! About the changes though. I think as much as it is a step forward, my main issue as a controller player is, you have to still tweak your settings a bit too much for searching the ideal setting, which I would like to be on par with wheels players when you use a default controller setting. What I mean is to add as a the default controller settings, a setting which would already give more confidence in the corners than now but having it ready so you don't have to mess too much around them. In my case using a PS5 Dualsense controller too, having different thumbsticks maybe filters and any other technical options i'm also never sure if I do have equal steering to those Xbox controllers or especially now with the wheelmode or maybe even direct mode, if I will set it up not having it too sensitive. The worst part is i'm not sure if I should use direct mode or just improve the turning with the other options, because I want to move the thumbstick the way as the game had in default, like: before slow corners little movements into 50% or 25% and on quick corners use 100% of it if the turn is getting sharper. While here at this video I didn't 100% get if I can do exactly that, because if wheelmode is still too sensitive at 100% linearity then that means I still have to fight with the default options the game had + set it up as close as possible risking that it might still not beat direct mode That is still the only problem left in my opinion, nevertheless it is good Ivory Tower at least gave any more options to improve fairplay. If you have any idea what I could try in my situation with the settings. I would pretty much appreciate your answer. Thanks again for the video and sharing valuable information to the community. 👍🙂
What I understand from the way he says how cheatermode is more difficult, it is still not difficult enough for fairness. Providing greater grip, wheel mode still has advantage.
Wheel mode players are still at a disadvantage to sim players especially those who use H shifter and clutch brother but I’m glad now console have a chance to compete now
Great video. I have a question about dragster cars? Why are they always driving like they are on ice? I play on PS5 any tips or settings you can give please.
You have comparison between Wheelmode and Directmode, how about season 2 standard steering vs season 3 max sensitivity and dynamic? Is season 3 more precise and faster for you?
Hi, I know you play on a contoller, but given your knowledge of the game and racing genre in general, what would you say is the best option for keyboard? I am decent at driving (usually top 500 at summits). Not trying to be hyper competitive, just dont want to fall behind too much. Also, if I don't mess with the new settings, does that mean car will behave like it was pre season 3?
Keyboard should stick with the sliders. The sliders can make the car more responsive than pre season 3 though 😎 If you don't mess with them then I think it is more like pre season 3 driving.
He said cheatermode feels more sensitive, and while that could mean direct more is more stable, they still are pretty much the same, especially with the new update that will make both modes completely different in terms of rear end stability compared to the season 2 cheatermode
I don't know dude, I have to disagree. Setting the linearity to 100 introduces kind of an artificial dead zone, and than after that you only have half of the stick's travel to play with (way to little to be precise). You can even see this in 3rd person mode when watching the front tyres. 50 stretches it out evenly over the whole travel space of the stick 💟🌌☮️
The options are certainly great. For me overall on a normal DualSense direct mode off feels better, with linearity on 50, dead zone 0, and the two other sliders on 100. Asissts only ABS and and minimal TC. Maybe direct mode is a good thing for some accessibility controllers. On my wheel the direct mode has no impact at all, but there I'm also happy with all the options. They even fixed the button layouts and made them editable 🌌💟 All in all finally a worthy substitute to Horizon on my PS5
Cant one just simply look straight and pay attention to the road? Also what I don't like about the steering in this game is that it it's so delayed with responsive even without direct mode it steers your car in a twitchy way. It cause you to either spin out or not turn at all. That's the stuff I always experience on PlayStation 4.
300$ steering wheel owners have isnstant wheel turn response so they beat you anyway. might as well chill with all assists. if u want to keep yourself stressed, play on KB and mouse. i miss the NFSU 2 days when you bought the game and could play it unchanged for 20 years without weekly changes and boggling settings. NFSU2 drift still the best.
Hi Goliath, I have one question regarding the third tip you gave on using direct mode. As you mentioned, with direct mode it is possible to turn the front tires too much in higher speed corners and lose speed and understeer when doing so. How then can we tell where the limit of grip of our car's front tires is so we can take faster corners with maximum steering angle without running into scrubbing of the front tires? From my limited experience with direct mode, I did not notice any indicators that clearly showed whether or not I was turning the front wheels too much and hence I am not too sure where I am losing time to scrubbing the front tires.
cant believe we actually made it happen. not only direct mode for all yall on controller, but also a sens slider and a max lock slider for people on keyboard like me.
