In the 2016 slayer testament that mentions the Wretch, it talks about Doom Slayer having a “sword and shield of adamantine strength”. Glad we can finally use it in this game and I hope the titan is a boss fight as well.
I was scared I'll miss the Meathook but I'm very pleased with the multi-functional shield. Holy moly. Also the Slayer looks SO badass. I didn't think Doomguy needed a cape, but it works really damn well for the time period he's in.
They definitely have some similar appearances. I wonder if the big guy is actually just a similar species much like the Hell Knight and Dread Knight, and the Aggadons are different. We might actually get to see the 4 armed ones like the one that is crucified at the Cultist Base.
The shield reminds me of something Hugo said in one of the streams. It was something like if Eternal was like driving a sports car then the next game would be like driving a tank because the gameplay of Eternal couldn't be taken any further. I think that's why it's a prequel as well, to make it feel more grounded as you don't have all of your powers yet. I think that's reflected in the art style as well. Anyway, game looks awesome and I can't wait to play it!
Seems like they doubled down on what they mentioned a few years ago, eternal was like a hyper fast machine, and that the next game would feel like you’re a heavy truck. Way too excited for this game. Rip and tear.
@@HugoStiglitz88 Don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. Doom eternal is perfect for what it is, I personally don’t want a replica of eternal, it’d rather something new. Doom is all about the power fantasy. Eternal was a hyper rush of adrenaline, Dark Ages seems to be giving the player the feeling of a walking, living tank.
Wonder if the 2016 cyberdemon (before his augmentations) will be a boss in this game. During his boss intro in 2016, he gave a head tilt towards the Slayer then roared at him, showing he recognized the Slayer. Hopefully that means we’ll get to see how the Slayer tore him apart.
2016 DooM represents the sci-fi side of the Doom franchise, Eternal and its DLCs represent the 'over the top badass' side and the Dark Ages represent the gothic/fantasy side. The unholy trinity will be complete soon.

The familiar demon you were talking about is actually the DOOM Hunter before the mechanized upgrades from the cultist. They were extinct during the unholy crusade and reanimated during Earth's invasion in doom eternal.
@K-44BlackBumblebee I guess that was just for the aesthetic of the ambient.
