It wasn’t all romanced like you are saying; some BM were abusive and had substance abuse like mines. But I had uncles and some friends who had good fathers. But it has little to do with healthy weight, in most cases? In the 70s there were fast food places everywhere too. My mom would get buckets of chicken and Chinese takeout often because she worked two jobs. My brother and other teens worked at McDonald’s. Kika ST must have made a lot of money? Even for those times. It was watched by every Black house-hold and was sponsored by big companies. I am sure KFC. They didn’t have to pay these dancers or the performers. It was just national exposure for them, publicity.

I'm in her generation. We weren't sedentary back then, no video games, lap tops, cell phones. We were by nature more active when we were young. In the summer you played outside all day, riding bikes, jumping rope, other games.

Did not know this!! I love getting info about back in the day. Soul Train came on at 11:00 am every Saturday for us, too. Everyone would gather around the TV and watch the whole show. Never missed a Saturday, either. When it went off, it was time for my happy meal from McDonald's and Black Belt Theater kung fu.
ALL of the dancers were OUTSTANDING!!!! She looks amazing! Soul Train was one of BEST shows that ever came on television! It was fun and wholesome! God bless Don Cornelius for his vision!
This woman is still gorgeous. I loved this show growing up, and I got my groove from watching and I wouldn't say learning, like trying to mimic the dances, its more I felt the mega intense beautiful vibes emitting off the television screen. I felt as if its a natural thing occuring, that I'd feel the vibes, the beat, the entire magnetic atmosphere pulsating inside me, that made me just groove to the music. I sure wish there was a show like Soul Train these days. Young folks don't know what they missed with this show.
