Take medication for depression. It doesn't help, so the doctor prescribes more. Still doesn't help, so he decides suicide is the only solution (with a 12 gauge shotgun).
Kalmah is so damn awesome. They make amazing music and show they have fun doing it. It's refreshing to see a music video that doesn't take itself too seriously; it's a nice contrast to the song which slays. The rifle solo was fantastic.
Kalmah is one of the most underatted bands. Their music is just awesome and they sould be more appriciated and i really hope Spinefarm would understand how much we all love them and that COB and Norther are not even close to be as awesome as Kalmah.
It's been 5 years since I listened to a Kalmah song. Now that I hear this for the first time, I can't help but wonder, why did I stop listening to Kalmah in the first place? This is fucking awesome!
For everyone who says that this album isn´t as melodic as the ones they did before, have not paid any attention to their music. This album is just as melodic as the ones before. Personally this is their best album.
Grrrrrr! I love this. There's something really fun about guys just acting like a bunch of growling, goofy, kick ass, drinking, balls to the wall brainless barbarians, and this is coming from a fairly sane woman. It's like watching a nature special about buffalo. LOVE Kalmah.
The 5 things I do most day's! 1. Wake up drink coffee shower get ready for work! 2. Drive to work play kalmah really loud in my car get some breakfast drive up! 3.. Work through out the day with the killer tunes of Kalmah stuck in my head! 4. Drive back home Jamming Kalmah tracks cranked way up and head banging some while still trying to drive safe! 5. Arrive at home hang out in my man cave{the garage} and dink around listening to more kalmah. Eat dinner have good sex and sleep!
How good the video is depends on how you look at it. If you think it's a serious attempt, it's not that great. If you don't, it looks like they were having a great time and playing awesome music while not taking themselves too seriously. I fall in with the latter.
So the swamp lord comes and takes the guy's shotgun at the end, then walks off. Lol, what is the meaning of that? Was the lead vocalist (guy sitting around the fire unaffected by the drink) the swamp lord? This video confuses me. But their others always have a cool story, so I was wondering what this one was.
I've explained it already :) The hunter is just a hunter, common finno-ugric theme and settings. This copes with Kalmah's overall policy. Just dual structure of song.He (hunter )does not hallucinate at the end: the swamp spirit takes his weapon (note: the spirit of the swamp is mostly helpful to humans as is the spirit of the forest, but rarely the spirit of the water. In fact, they are often at odds with each other) because he aimed it on him. The spirit takes the hunter's weapon.
TboneZ5...Are you serious, this band hasn't let up in the least...they've released some incredible records...you need to listen multiple times..you'll start to hear it...have you heard 12 gauge...awesome!
Omg, i've always seen Children of Bodom as the only band of this genre i liked... wtf, i have never been so wrong. These guys are plain awesome! They have a new fan for sure!
@@xh7385 I have to agree. Nothing really against them but I was listening to Kalmah and Insomnium and In Flames at a young age and then COB just sounded mediocre in comparison, and like 14 years later I would still say they are pretty mediocre in terms of Melodic Death
As much as their fans put down this album in comparison to others in the lineup, it's still got some of my most favorite tracks from all of their work. This one, Hook the Monster, and Man of the King from the BW album, I can listen to those three on a loop all day.
Knute Lindstrom Indeed, the people in the amozonas used it for centuries to connect to their deities. It's orally active DMT, one of the strongest entheogens known to man, cause they combine it with an MAO-Inhibitor.
oh so you didnt heard every song till end i guess, Every album has its own atmosphere and emotions. For me its the specially fact about kalmah that every album is other sounding, unique in its way.
@lman2004 Well true, not all bands do sell out, but I was comparing in terms of generality, not by statistics. Money hath corrupted, and continues to corrupt in every industry, not just the music business. And what do you mean by "doing good"? That insinuates that you think that success in the music business is about financial prosperity, not about music quality...its no wonder why the industry is flawed today with people thinking like that..
@lman2004 But is more recognition what we want? Everyone should all should know that popularity ruins even the most talented of bands *cough cough* children of bodom *cough**hack* but kalmah hasnt been fucked over by the mainstream and turned into a corporate monster like some other bands. Thats why their music continues to be good. And as far as im considered, i could headbang to kalmah in secrecy and give a flying fuck to whatever crap anyone else is listening to. Consider it a priveledge.
@6ixpoint5ive If a rating is all you want, I'm giving it a 9.8/10. However, it's clearly not Kalmah at their full potential, even if it's a godly album. Their first three albums are an absolute must and the best metal out there. The only music better than Kalmah refers to King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Yes... however that doesn't appeal much to the metal audience, sadly.
@6ixpoint5ive Kalmah is melodeath yes but they sound hugely different from what you typically hear with bands like MPE, DH. They're more of a mix between melodeath and both progressive rock and metal. Anywhoo, in my opinion, their best albums are, in order : They Will Return, Swamplord, Swampsong, 12 Gauge, The Black Waltz and For The Revolution.
@DumontMan the quality is fine, the drum symbols don't sound like "breaking glass" xD thats all i mainly look for, and as for the visual, its fine, not the most exciting visual, but the music makes up for. its hard to explain the breaking glass thing though, if you want an idea of what i mean, rip a CD to your computer at around 64 kps or less, and listen closely to the drum crash symbols, they sound like breaking glass or falling pocket change point is, a lot of official vids have bad sound

All the years i've listened to metal, I think Pekka's vocals are still among the best i've heard.

Easily. I still prefer the higher shreiks on the first 3 albums but he can do it all.
i read this comment like almost 10 years ago and here I return
Best shotgun solo ever!
This is why you don't take shroom tea while hunting.
And that is how a party goes in the North!
That moment when the video is funny as hell but the story they are trying to portray is disturbing as hell.
+Agaga Gagag I think it's supposed to have a deliberately tongue-in-cheek feel to it ;)
Take medication for depression. It doesn't help, so the doctor prescribes more. Still doesn't help, so he decides suicide is the only solution (with a 12 gauge shotgun).
Video is meant to be funny, lyrics are meant to be serious. Just like Immortal.
Finally, someone is using his shotgun carefully!

Probably one of the best melodic death bands on this planet.
Arguably the best ever, but that is a tough one to argue lol
yes sir andrew keen
Definitely the best melodic death metal band!

What they lack in basic gun safety, they more than make up for in ability to fuckin' rock.
It was probably secured and empty. Oh wait, they're Finns... Okay, I'll take it back^^
Chances are it was filmed on a cell phone camera when they where playing around drunk. Knowing Finns...

These guys have always been the kings of melodeath in my book. Ever since Swamplord.
if you read up on the lyrics this video makes a lot of sense before that I was little confused :)
It's like they wanted to make the modern "Immortal-Call of the wintermoon" but Kalmah's vocalist makes everything look badass!
+Daniel Peire But they all were lacking in the :"Pointy Hats" department....
