Hi ma'am thank you so much for this video I have struggled with optimisation the whole year and this really made it better. Please can I ask @1:33:22, is it correct to write the volume ratio as 635,45 : 2144,66 then simplify it to 1 : 3,38? I put the 8/27 into my calculator and it gave the same thing (0.296..) Thanks.
You're welcome, I'm glad it was helpful. 💌 If you write it as 635,45:2144 you would have already rounded off firstly and secondly, you now have decimals written in the ratio. When writing answers in the form of a ratio, the numbers used are usually whole numbers so I would advise that it be written as 8:27 because of this and other cases where rounding off actually affects the final answer.
Hi Simphiwe💫 I am working on releasing more videos like this next year so, that should also include one on rates of change. For now, you can check out my paper 1 videos which will include this specific topic in the calculus section. 💯
Hey ma'am by my casio calculator by 1:30:55 it gave me for the maximum volume of the cone when i subst x=8/3 in the volume 635.45 the rounded off version it didn't give me the answer in terms of π and i pressed the SD button but the ans was still in decimal form is there not a way i can get to the ans using decimals
Hey Esther, That's fine. It's just the setting on my calculator. Since pi is being multiplied into the expression, if you wanted your answer to be in terms of pi, you can just multiply the numbers first and then multiply your answer by pi. The maximum volume of the cone is still 635.45. To be safe, you could have also used the ANS button on your calculator so that you can ensure that you did not round off the maximum volume before finding the final answer they asked for.
@@mathtruly oh ohk so I could still get to the answer by using the decimals for the cone and sphere but I must not round off any of the decimals when dividing
