Ironically, the real costume helmets were a slightly different colour white because they were pulled from a different plastic that was beige and had to be hand painted white. The armour was made out of already white plastic.
My thoughts exactly, and I kinda like it. Painted HDPE and raw ABS did not look the same. It’s nice to see that on a figure for the sake of accuracy even if it’s 100% accidental.

I didn't even TRY to get my hands on this -- mostly because exclusive army-builder figure equals instant sell-out -- but also because I've already got a platoon of the 2004 Vintage Original Trilogy Collection Stormtroopers, and I am NOT in the mood or financial position to replace all of those every time they bring out a new tweak.
So someone please wake me when they make a "This Is The Best, Ultimate, 3.75-Inch Stormtrooper We Absolutely Can't Possibly Improve Upon Any More, Honest, We REALLY Mean It This Time" version that's available at standard retail and in sufficient quantities. 'Kay, thanks! 😉
God help me trying to find even ONE of these at Walmart. Fingers crossed 🤞
One big issue for us in the USA is that this figure being a Walmart exclusive means getting it mailed without damage will be difficult. Walmart & our postal service are notoriously rough on carded figures. Let’s hope we all get lucky and they arrive in great shape.
I never had a chance to pre-order any; they pre-sold out immediately. Stormtroopers should NEVER be exclusive. Hasbro is still smoking Crack, it seems.

Hey loving the great reviews. Gotta say this is the storm trooper I been holding out for. I feel their sculpts are just getting better and better. Maybe when you're caught up on your latest reviews you could do a "do over video" pick your top 20 VC figures you think Hasbro could tweak to make them stellar.
When watching the vid, you can see the slight off-white/almost creamy colour on the front of the head fading into the actual white toward the sides and back… is this p’raps due to when they’ve painted the front of the helmet? Maybe something is used to help keep the paint in line while the artist was doing the work (sort of like putting Vaseline down to stop paint ‘spidering’ out).
Its about time this stormtrooper was made! We have had a Stormtrooper on every card other than its first version
You’re right, the color for sure is different. It’d be interesting to do an H2O2 + UV light wash on it to see if it changes the brightness

Wish we could get unpunched as well. But by god that looks incredible. I wanted to see you open the figure Tim. The differences between the Stormtroopers is kind of like the original Star Wars movie costumes.
Yeah, the front of the helmet looks to be a bit different white than the back and the rest of the armor. Strange indeed.
Not video related but the Genndy Clone Wars Arc Trooper are back on sale for retail pricing on Walmarts app. Sold and shipped through Walmart. For the army builder this is great news and for anyone who missed out and doesn't want to pay $40+ for one.
I just checked their website, they're going for $30 plus now.
@@lamarravery4094 dang sorry. Tried to get it out as soon as i saw them. Could be a Walmart+ thing idk. I work there so I get it for free. Regular Arc Trooper not the captain was $13.47 USD
@@lamarravery4094 yep definitely all gone. Keep an eye out for small restocks on them and Captains though. They all came in the same case so where there's regular trooper restocks, there should be captains.
Can't wait to get'em. I wish eyes had a slight dark green hue to them. And yeah, helmet is definitely a bit different white.
One of the few I would consider obtaining. I hardly ever buy anything new.

Interesting about the helmet. You’re not wrong, there is a color defect. If there are issues with mine, I’ll probably swap helmets with Rogue One stormie. Just can’t wait for these ship here in the states!!

The deluxe e web helmet is different from the vc#140 helmet, it’s slightly larger and has a different neck post, i assumed new tvc stormtrooper would have the same head and neck post as the deluxe version but I’m not sure thats the case

You’re not imagining it, it is a very slightly darker white on the helmet, more noticeable on the second trooper you put into the shot. It’s not that bad, but just enough to upset my OCD if it happens on mine. 🤞

Awesome review it’s just that darn warning label is such an annoying problem. You would think hasbro would have had a solution for this by now….
Exactly Tim... 80% of cardback is full of rubbish. Why does Hasbro need to print out so much of crap at the back? If they really have to do it for legal reasons, I would rather do it in a piece of paper and put it under the bubble and leave more space to add more tiles of figure profiles and vehicles at the back of the card.

Way back in 1979 I got 2 stormtroopers on the same card back they were the first ever Star Wars figures I ever had
I had 3 of those for 1979 Christmas along with the rest of the original 21 and the carrying case to put them in. I had to buy another stormtrooper a few yrs later at the nearby store, and that was a rare find.
Cannot wait to get my hands on this figure Tim. You are spot on about this being the ultimate version with it being on that classic Star Wars cardback. I can see what you are saying about the colour being off white, hopefully it's just an early one and not a problem for the rest of the ones they make. Why did this have to be a Walmart exclusive here in the USA?! But hopefully I can find a few somewhere.

Interestingly I've noticed in promo images he uses an original trilogy e-ll but the actual figure uses the rogue one e-ll. Weird.

I see the off-white on the front
It looks like there is a oily green or yellowish tint to it I could see it at a couple angles

The E-11 blaster with this figure is the one used in Rogue One that has the attachment on the barrel.It is a variation from the blaster the ANH stormtrooper used! VC169 & VC171 have the correct E-11 for ANH troopers.
Is it a new helmet sculpt? I can’t believe it’s a different shade of white. You’re not being paranoid. I can really see it in your video. In fact it looks more yellow on the front than the back.
Yeah the back isnt yellow, its like hes been sunburned lol
@@BossksBounty doesn’t bode well then for plastic yellowing over time. I put my old stormtroopers in a jar of hydrogen peroxide and leave it in the sun for a day or two and it fixes them… temporarily
I'd love another stormtrooper 4 pack with this version in future.

You’re defo not imagining it, the helmet is definitely not as brilliant a white as the rest of the figure, but it’s not a write off- still a great version.

@@callofthewillman4469 you right! 2022 prices are too damn high for such an oversight. They got me googling what’s the home remedy for yellowing figures because I’m not gona look back in my camera roll when I first took screenshots of the whitening formula 😂😂
It's been a year and, as usual, you can't buy it anywhere at a regular price.
I think the slight variations in the color of white shades and armor dots are just fine. No two troopers in a battalion should be completely identical anyway. When army building each figure should be unique. That said, if the shades of white are factory errors and every single one of them have a similar variation then it’s a problem. I guess I’ll have to wait for Walmart (🤢🤮) to find out.
Good thing I waited. I had a problem with the Rogue One antes and the bell-bottomeness of those ankles. I want one of these since the Sormtrooper was the third of the first 4 STAR WARS figure I ever got. I remember the pic with the two troopers and it takes me back.

It's definitely off white Tim. There's an obvious difference! The body is a flat white & the helmet is an off white 100% it's clearly visible to me!! Let's hope there not all like that. Little things like that anoye me as well.

The stormtrooper helmet seems wrong, the sculpt anyway leave to Hasbro to mess things up, I know they try to give an accurate looking stormtrooper but y'know, other than that it looks great, thanks for the review Bossk.
I think its off white because they had a mistake while painting it and had to use a solvent to wipe off and repaint the mistake.
The discoloring on the face is definitely noticeable. VERY concerning. How has Hasbro still not created a white plastic that resists yellowing after all these decades?
Walmart is horrible with shipping for carded collectors (worse than Amazon from my past experience), I hope to find one in store or second hand market for a decent price
I can definitely see the difference, but it's not a glaring difference. I'm wondering if it's a defect for this individual figure, or is it a more widespread issue?

At least from my screen that helmet does appear two different shades of white, front vs back. I'd say that the new figures are a bluer shade of white and the helmet is more bright white.
I managed order a few of these and three of the gamer ones with the black pauldron and Canon ( think the same) these are awesome 👌 once again cheers BB
Can you use the helmets that come with deluxe boba fett with this one?
I think the helmet is a different colour of white but it is hard to tell to be certain, apart from that though he’s an awesome figure and you just can’t beat that card back!

A great figure upgrade, but i already have 18 RO Stormtroopers so i will only get 2 of these. Just so i have a nice even number of good looking troopers. I think these will go on my POTJ Freezing Chamber, weapons holstered, so they can hold onto Han right before he turns into an icicle.

The colours definitely different at the front on your figure, I'm guessing it's a different paint or plastic and it's been facing sunlight making it yellow slight since it's only the front not the back
Just speculating, but maybe the off color is the result of some paint application process change or tweak? Who knows. I know, in the line up between the 3, I preferred the E-web version. Another great review! 😎👍
Lets hope that Habsro actually anticipated the Army Building intention of the Stormtrooper this time, trying to make an army out of VC-140 can be a female dog even with the inclusion of the battle pack. I myself am reserving for that Death Watch Airbourne trooper, I'll be getting a great many of them.
I could see the yellowing. Hope that doesn't get worse w/ age. I have a couple OG Stormtroopers from the original line that have yellowed badly. Makes me sad
Actually my concern is that the white plastic will yellow as we have already seen with modern figures like the vintage figures are prone to yellow discoloration over time as oxidation occurs in the plastic. Yes UV and heat accelerate the process but I even have modern figures that were kept in a climate controlled environment out of direct UV exposure turn yellow over the years. Even Retrobriting is not a permanent fix as the yellowing returns within months to a few years. Who knows maybe tge patina yellowing in the plastic will eventually match the helmet and you’ll have a uniform color.
The Stormtrooper from the carbon freezing chamber set still looks better, although it doesn't have a working holster.

As someone may have said, the colour of the helmet in the film was painted as opposed to the armour which was just white of the plastic, and well done for noticing the difference in coloured buttons. This was my first figure way back in 78' and would love to grab one of these, but missed out on the pre-order! Question - does he have green eye lenses and grey teeth? as that would make him 'ultimate'
Black lenses, grey teeth. And even though that is true about the helmet I dont think the yellowing is deliberate lol
I would expect all of these troopers to eventually go off white then yellowing.
Helmet definitely looks off to me also Tim 😕 Hasbro making mistakes as usual 🤷♂️
