    I am in SoCal too and would LOVE this! The sun is tearing the paint job up on my luxury Infiniti QX80. Unfortunately the manufacturer said the largest one they have is not tall enough for my SUV. I'm considering just building a 2"x8" box frame to sit the carport on to provide the additional height, but then I'll have a gap on the front and rear. Maybe I can get creative and sew some additional material on the front and back to cover it up.

    Excellent video.
    Just use a couple of 8x 3/4" self tapping ITW or TEC screws to hold the faulty connection together. and your set. Thanks for sharing

    Hi there, can you provide an update on this car shelter? Is it still holding up well? I have a Model Y and want to order one, but wanted to confirm whether you would still recommend it. Also, do you have to take the cover off to charge at home?

    My area is windy 15MPH in the fall and spring. Can you anchor it down or is it heavy enough to stay down

    It seems that you didn't secure it to the concrete driveway, are you worried about wind or?

    • @DJGeorgeDisco

      wind shouldn't be much of an issue given that it is placed next to the house.

      Not really worried about wind much in Southern California. there are gusty months, but so far, it's handled it well.

    Thinking of getting this, but was curious how it held up to wind and the heat? Read some comments it didn't do well with airflow, even though it has side vents apparently. I'm renting and don't think I can anchor this into the ground.

  • @stanceswitch6419
    @stanceswitch6419 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bought this. Does protect the car from the sun, BUT, the vents are not good enough for hot weather. It gets super hot inside the tent even in 70 degree weather with both side vents open

    I wouldn’t recommend this for heavy snow climates, I live in western ny and we’ve been bit with several snow storms recently and mine collapsed despite 4 12” heavy duty tent stakes and 4 70lb tube sand bags on it, it was fine until we got a lot of snow, I’ve contacted them and I’m waiting to see but the canopy is a total loss and thankfully I didn’t end up storing my car inside otherwise I would have had a damaged vehicle, it almost fell on me as well, take away the heavy snow and it was fine, problem is the snow doesn’t come off it it just sits on it and it’s too tall reach snow on top, snow turned to ice, do your research before you get one

    • @DJGeorgeDisco
      @DJGeorgeDisco 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Ikuby carport is rated for light snow. Most shelters are rated for light snow regardless of what they claim. Do not use it in snowy weather. Just keep the carport open at both ends.

      I used tapping screws on all the poles. Didn’t trust the tabs locking the poles together. Lasted 2 New England winters with heavy snow.

    • @danreed9787
      @danreed9787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ilir Lecaj The frame is holding strong but put self tapping screws everywhere you see the tabs connecting the poles together. They will come out if you don’t reinforce the frames additionally. Also make sure you install on a level surface or the carport won’t close all the way down without putting alot pressure and force.

    The problem with them is wind, in uk we secured ours in concrete as well but it wasnt the frame that moved it was the canopy its self ripped with wind.

      it's still working well. The fabric could use a good cleaning and no, I never anchored it because I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to place it with 2 electric cars needing to be charged and kids using the driveway for fun.

    Is that a Tesla? Woaw, I thought when it was so quiet and noticed the T. It looks so regular like a Ford Focus or alike. I thought they were supposed to be a luxury E.V. Then I suppose Environmentalist folk want something minimalist. I haven't seen one here in Ireland or Europe.

      It's hideous. Not sure why Tesla likes to make ugly cars when you have plenty of other companies adding simulated grilles and providing much more attractive designs. If the future is this ugly, I don't want it.
