- hello! here’s a quick intro to the vocoder device in ableton live 10, which i’m a fan of. everyone needs a vocoder; even robert henke was convinced.
beyond live’s native vocoder, i love using izotope’s vocalsynth (both versions 1 and 2). other vocoder plugins i’ve tried and enjoyed are softube’s vocoder and TAL’s vocoder, the latter of which is free! hardware wise, i’m a big fan of the vocoders on korg and roland products.

hey you did an awesome job explaining this, like you actually explained what i wanted to know, i want to do live DJ sets with a vocoder and a keytar, but i didnt knew how all of this actually worked, keep on the videos you are doing great!

just watched like 10 different vocoder tutorials on youtube and this literally blew all the others out of the water in depth and ease of understanding. fantastic vid! The only thing for me is that the vocoder wouldn't work at all when I turned off the audio of the carrier completely. I needed to change the audio in the carrier to be set to send only and then it worked for me.
great to hear that! glad that you were able to address your issue. if you had followed exactly as i had set it up in the video, it would have worked as well.

So educated! I feel overwhelmed watching. I bought a dj contoller played around with it only to return the next day. I wanna make trance and drum n bass type music maybe a midi controller is for me...
i typically wouldn't even recommend purchasing any controller for folks who are just beginning. going through learningmusic.ableton.com first would be a good way to see if you enjoy the general workflow of electronic music-making and the studying that accompanies it.

That's a really cool tutorial! I'd love if you could show us a little bit more on how to work with the carrier to achieve different sounds. Like, explaining what setups you can use with vocoder to get the sounds you used at the intro of this video, for instance!
We have a lot of Ableton Live's tutorials on the vocoder itself but close to nothing when it comes to cool ways to setup the carrier!

what you'll always need is MIDI information, so no, a keyboard wouldn't be always needed!

Really good. But I still can't get any vocoded sound, with any of my vocoder type plug ins. Using Live 10 lite. I even took a screenshot of the set up and replicaetd it.HEEEEELLPPPP
perhaps try checking exactly what your carrier and modulator are, and make sure that you have the right tracks armed. otherwise, i offer private lessons and can troubleshoot with you separately :) more info at www.clairemarielim.com/learning

Would Novation Launchkey 49 [MK3] MIDI Keyboard Controller work as a vocoder. I’m getting different responses online.
the launchkey is a midi keyboard; it does not inherently produce sound. it would not function as a standalone vocoder, but could potentially be involved in vocoding if you have the right software (such as ableton live).
@@dolltrick I do have Ableton live. Would this tutorial work for it or would I need to do it differently with the keyboard I have?
@@tolkienforestelf it would work the same, as long as you know how to operate your midi keyboard. nothing beats trying it out yourself!
