That's why NEVER, NEVER go to Valvoline or jiffy lube, the same problem happened to my friend, not to throw them under the bus, but that's what they do, is better if you do your own oil change.

I worked for Jiffy Lube from 2002-2003. that filter was overtightened... from my experience... get the filter snug and turn another quarter to half turn. but THIS...? Outrageous.... SMH

This is why Valvoline now has oil filter torque specs for cartridge style filters on every car on the POS.

It is not rocket science to change oil/filter correctly, but these lube shops seem to not train the guys correctly. I do my own always have always will. I trust no one to work on my vehicles.

ALWAYS GO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE YOUR CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY OR ELSE YOUR FACTORY WARRANTY GETS VOID

Sir...this is simply "not true". When you purchase a vehicle the Manufacturers warranty is part of your signed contract. If a dealership tells you this, report them to your State/County immediately because it's against the law. Dealerships are PRIVATE entities that work with Auto Manufacturers to sell cars. Dealership will try to word little tricks like this into THEIR extended warranty programs to get incentivized by the auto manufacturers for services. It's basically a kick-back program for pushing OEM parts and oil service. Your preferred shop can do any warranty work on your new vehicle as long as you haven't hit the mileage or time- frame limit.
