You have a great space, it's so bright and the double double-glazed window is awesome. I will look into making macros for my processing as I do pretty much the same thing every time. I like that you have a quick one for WAV and and another for more processes. The accounting stuff will take me longer to work around.
If nothing is specified by the client then my current filename nomenclature is:- Info/Role/Takes - My Name - File Spec's - Client - where the job came from .### e.g. for an audition it might read:- Doctor Smith x3 - Voiceover Vandeen - 44kHz 24bit - Sterling Health - XYZ Agency .wav If it's for a time coded project that always goes first:- 00:10:50:00 - EMC Compatibility - Slides 11 to 19 - Voiceover Vandeen - 48kHz 32bit - Xiegas - VV .wav etc etc Everyone can see at a glance what the file is, & if it gets misplaced it's easy for anyone, (including me) to Search/sort/filter/collate; ergo, editors & producers like it as well.
Hi- great video 👍 One question - where did you get your mic boom arm/ iPad holder … it’s just what I’m looking for … Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos…
Hey! I really love what you're doing with this channel. The first video I ever saw of you was the one that discussed how to sound conversational... then the next, I was going through a SkillShare course on Voiceovers and I noticed that the guy looked familiar haha. And surely enough, it WAS you. P.S. I'd like to make a request, do you think you can make a tutorial on how to really focus on the emotion of the read without being too held up on the technicalities of the read?
I agree it’s important not to over rehearse the script but I do want to get to the stage where I know the copy inside out. The idea is that the words on the page - or on your tablet - act simply ciphers to remind me of a concept, an idea, a fact or an emotion that I’m trying to communicate. I do most of the prep work in my head and not aloud. I’ve heard people say not to read ahead, but I think it’s a skill that it is worth developing. “Oh here comes the bit about the safety features…… tick! Oh, yes, this little bit is the stuff on teamwork…..”. And so on.
Fantastic info Chris, always so useful. Would love to see more detail on the setting up of the automated 3-way backup process if you ever had time. I got mine from Booth Junkie, and still doesn't feel like I'm really on top of it.
Hey, I have a question - should I record my voice over first and then add background music or does it make more sense to add the background music first and then decide the tone of my voice over? FYI: I use Premiere Pro so please let me know and thanks in advance!
Let me know if you found these tips helpful or if there's something I've missed!

Great suggestions - might well steal this!

Duly noted Miles - thanks so much!
For volumes, what about the -18 to -6db rule then normalising to -3db?
Brilliant info. Thank You!
Abstract question, what is the handle that keeps your tablet on your tripod good Sir?
This was great, I'm really enjoying your videos!
Glad you like them! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to cover
What's that tablet arm/holder? Do you have a link to it?
Your channel is amazing.
As a voice actor from Nigeria. I find your videos very helpful.
Thanks Widlin - do let me know if there's anything else I can help with?!
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover At this time I am soaking in all your contents. This is a whole lot. Thank you so so much.

Depends entirely on the production workflow, but I think being clear on the VO first tends to work best
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover Awesome, thank you so much!!
